The location was beautiful and there were loads of things to do. The prices were reasonable and the food in the restaurants was very delicious. I cannot wait for our return trip there.

I loved this city - so much to see and do from Tango to football. Food and drink cheap and high quality - good place to visit.

I went to Rosario with my new wife, she was born there. I really enjoyed our visit to the Flag tribute and the nearby park on the River where we took the boat cruise up the river to the Florida Bridge and past the beautiful Beaches. I had the best Sausage Wedge, "Churi Gol or Churi Pan" That I have ever eaten from a sidwalk vender at the Beach Walkway. I found that everyone I met was very cordial. I plan on returning to this area again for three months, July to October. I hope it's not to cold

Perito Moreno glacier was the highlight of my month-long trip to Argentina and the Big Ice trek made it all the more amazing! I had enormous trouble booking it as I didn't have time to call into the Hielo y Aventura office the day before (which a lot of people do). I eventually booked through Chalten Travel, based in Buenos Aires, who charge a 5% commission on top of the normal costs. I arranged all this via email before I left the UK - they send vouchers that you jsut present to the Hielo y Aventura bus when they collect you for the trek. I would wholly recommend the trek although it is pretty hard work, You do need to be quite fit. We went in January and found that walking trousers, a top, fleece, gloves and waterproof jacket was all we needed to stay cosy.

Laguna Nimez is situated about a 20 min level walk from the main street Av. del Libertador. We walked round the two ponds in December 2009 and were delighted with the views of flamingos, hawks, keuken and many other birds that as a European I didn't recognise. Apart from stray dogs the area was very quiet and it was a wonderful experience to be so close to so many different species

We started with a tour of the city and went to May square where we were able to see the building with the famous balcony where Eva Peron stood and talked to the people. Other Evitas have also stood on this balcony including Madonna who played Evita in the film version of the story. It is a pinkish coloured, quite imposing stone building in a colonial style at one end of the square. Just up from the May square is the station for line A Peru station where you can ride on the subway which still has the wooden carriages of the old original underground trains. We went from near the obelisk on the 9th July avenue which was lima station to Peru station which cost 0.90 pesos about 15p – it was only a couple of stops but we could have gone a lot further for the same cost. Just up the road from the Peru station was Tortoni cafe which is quit a tourist trap but still worth a visit as the decor is art deco and there are paintings of all styles on the walls. Tiffany lamps are on display and they are also for sale. The waiters are all very smartly dressed in black suits and white shirts and were quite charming and very tolerant of all the tourists wanting photos! We had a very nice coffee and hot chocolate which came with a chocolate biscuit too. In the centre the serving area looked like a bar in an old fashioned pub. In the back corner was a scene at a table of three famous people who had frequented the cafe – the lady who started the tango, an author and someone else we had not heard of. We spent some time at La Boca, the original home of Italian migrants. They settle in this area as they were fishermen in Italy and this area was on the coast where they could carry on the trade they knew. Their original houses were made of wood and covered in corrugated metal for protection. They then painted them in multi colours as these odd bits of paint were left overs from the paint used for their fishing boats. The end result is the colourful, quaint looking houses in very narrow streets which are now a major tourist trap but it still manages to be a place of character. We also visited the Recoleta area .Here you can find the cemetery with the mausoleum of Eva Peron’s family and where her body is laid to rest. This cemetery is amazing, each mausoleum is the size of a small house and some have huge ornate statues on top or between marble columns. Apparently they were made in Europe and shipped out to Argentina by wealthy catholic families early last century. They were extremely ostentatious and in fact Eva Peron’s family mausoleum was one of the more moderate ones but it is the only one that constantly has fresh flowers brought by one admirer or another. Mr Peron is not buried there as there was some disagreement between her family and him after Eva died, so he is elsewhere. It was a very strange place but worth a visit. We decided not to stay here as we really wanted to go to the Ideal cafe on the Sunday afternoon for the afternoon session which starts at 3 o’clock. This cafe is also decorated on 1920s sort of style and very ornate but dark. It has lots of small tables around a dance floor and there is a bar at the back. The bar served drinks and offered a selection of snacks and cakes. We chose toasted sandwiches and beer but another couple with us ordered sparkling wine which was very tasty too. This cafe is where local people come to dance the tango, meet their friends and enjoy a drink. Most people came as couples and some as singles but they did seem to know each other and most were local. The lady sitting at the next table to us was unusual as she was by herself and from North Carolina. She told me she had been learning the tango for two years and she was very good, she was also in great demand as she was by far the youngest tango dancer in the room. Most of the other dancers were 60+ and one gentleman looked at least 85 but he managed to dance most of the dances very elegantly.

Buenos Aires review
"Skip BA and Head to Uruguay"
resort to a friend
Buenos Aires is not the Paris of South America, unless your opinion of Paris is that it is full of rude people who think themselves better than you. . . Use it as a gateway to Uruguay. A few days in Montevideo or a day-trip to Colonia del Sacramento will leave you feeling more relaxed, refreshed, and not feeling so taken advantage of!

I noticed in Salta it was very difficult to find information and book tickets to the Tren a las Nubes. I suspect, the reason is that there is only one official agent allowed to sell tickets. The rest of the travel agents try to convince you that it is not worth doing (and hence, book the bus tour with them instead). NOT TRUE.
It is totally worth doing, and way cooler than sitting in a poxy bus. There were beautiful sections of the journey, in between mountains, where there was no place for cars to drive. It was very remote and beautiful.
If you have the money, do it! It's a once in a lifetime experience.
You can book your tickets here online http://www.ecotren.com/ It is a decent enough website. They send you quite a vague confirmation letter, but just take the code along with you in the morning.
It's a long journey, leaving early in the morning and returning at midnight. We decided to get off and stay at San Antonio de Los Cobres, instead of taking the (same) long way back. We didn't want to be so many hours on the train, especially since we wanted to see the nearby salt plains without having to travel the same way back the next day.

BA, Argentina is a lively city with all of the attractions you would expect of a capital. One of the highlights is seeing a tango show in one of the many theatres in the centre. There are many cultural sites to view and a city bus tour avaialble for those on a tight timescale. The transport system is second to none and offers cheap frequent travel both inside and out of the city.

El Calafate review
"Argentina - El Calafate"
resort to a friend
El Calafate is the hub for a range of sights and activities in Southern Patagonia. It is here that you start a sight-seeing trip to Glacier Perito Moreno, or go horseback riding, paragliding, trekking or fishing. When you're hanging around the town, there is plenty to keep you occupied in terms of eating, drinking and shopping.

El Paraiso Zoo This the largest zoo in the country and is very well-stocked. The site is large but with lots of tree to give shade and lots of seating it is ideal in summer to get out of the heat. I went in the Spring so the miniature train wasn't working but in summer you can take the lazy way and ride around the park

We did the 1 day cruise to the Estancia and it was just what we needed after the Big Ice tour the day before, and a long night. The cruise was beautiful, past amazing icebergs, and on stunning lake. The estancia was set in a beautiful valley, and the lunch was just incredible. It seemed the wine never stopped flowing, and the food was all terrific in the neat little restaurant. After lunch we went on a sobering hike to a pretty river and a viewpoint over the whole estancia. Would definitely recommend it even despite the steep price.

El Calafate review
"Estancia Cristina Amazing"
resort to a friend
We went horse-riding on the first afternoon and trekking the following morning. Both were stunning and guides were very good. Very tasty packed lunch provided although the dinners were disappointing and my meal had to be returned to the kitchen as it was served cold and undercooked. The evening menu seemed to be overly ambitious but the cooks simply couldnt deliver. Particularly given the rural surroundings, we would have just have loved a good steak like the day trippers were offered. The accommodation was very comfortable although not luxurious. Each cabin is split into 4 bedrooms and all shared the study at the front. The weather was quite unforgiving and a pity that we hardly saw the sun lift from the clouds during our stay here. The views and landscape were stunning and my partner proposed to me by the lakes and mountains to make this part of our holiday a truly unforgettable experience. Service was good and particulary enjoyed the communal area especially the tea room, the horses from our horse trek were roaming free just outside the window.
