Brochure Guide

If you are not a beachy sun worshiper this is the holiday for you. At St Johann in Tyroll you wont be beaten for good food, wonderful scenery and excellent and friendly staff at Gasthauf Mauth. Take a leisurely stroll through the town, with wonderful eateries or try a trip up the mountain, or for the more adventurous there is the challenge of the downhill taboggan to beat your better half. Bus and train services are regular making it easy to visit Innsbruck or even Munich if you wish.

Been a couple of times before, it is one of our favourite resorts. Some brilliant runs, and some challenging ones which is good for us. Lots of good bars in the resort centre too, tremendous apres-ski.

The Alpenzoo is a must if you're travelling in Innsbruck. First of all, it is built into the side of a mountain. You ride up in a funicular (which is rather neat), and there's a terrific view of the town from all parts of the zoo. Secondly, the zoo is made up of only animals that are indigenous to Austria. So you see some interesting ones. They allow cameras, the gift shop is really cute, and the staff is nice and efficient. There's a little food shop that sells typical Austrian fare, and it's pretty good and very reasonably priced. You can eat outside if weather permits.

Zell Am See review

"Zee am See"

Open quote

Zell am See is a lovely lakeside resort, suitable for both winter and summer holidays. The quaint pedestrianised area has a variety of bars, restaurants and shops, as well as some very smart hotels. The lake provides a scenic backdrop, particularly if you are skiing on the nearby Schmittenhohe mountain. The range of skiing is good particularly when you add in the neighbouring resort of Kaprun and its glacier, both of which are accessible by bus from the town centre. Resort prices are not too expensive so you can enjoy yourself without breaking the bank. The resort is easily accessible by rail, as well as by road.

Vienna is a great city. Seemed to be a good time to go as there was a huge Christmas market near the main cathedral. We really enjoyed the museums, especially the Summer palace.

Beautiful city, fantastic architecture and very tasteful Christmas decorations in the streets! Lots of art galleries, we never got bored and it is possibly the best city break we have had in a long time.

Lovely city for a short break, we actually ran out of time. Some of the cafes are fantastic. You must go to the Hotel Sacher for cake, despite the price!

Salzburg review

"Super City Draped in History and Culture"

100%
of reviewers would recommend this
resort to a friend

Open quote

Wonderful city, beautiful setting and scenery (You only have to watch 'The Sound of Music' to see why!) plenty of things to do and see, the 'Salzburg Card' is great value for entry to sights and attractions. Bring a raincoat as it does tend to rain a lot but so much to see. The view from the summit of the Untersberg mountain is magnificent, a cable car takes you up there so you don't have to be super fit. It's a very safe and clean city with an excellent bus service and located in very close proximity to the airport where several budget airlines fly to. On the whole definitely recommended for short 3/4 day city break

Mayrhofen review

"Great resort, plenty to see and do!"

100%
of reviewers would recommend this
resort to a friend

Open quote

We were not in the resort for very long as staying on business, however there is lots to see and do here! Of the few things we managed to do was the Zillertalbahn, an old fashioned steam train which runs directly from Mayrhofen Station to Jenbach near Lake Achensee. This is fab if you want to be able to combine your stay in the Tyrol with excursions to the lakes.

In September the coming down of the cows festival happens in the hills nearby - definitely a sight worth seeing with all the cows wearing bells and floral headdresses, however I would recommend avoiding driving up the mountain on the day this happens as the cows are in the roads and we got stuck in a 2hr jam coming back down again behind them!!

Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to keep all ages entertained, and the resort really comes alive in Ski Season too! Highly recommended!

Seefeld review

"Lovely village and relaxed atmosphere"

There is plenty to see and do in this lovely village - why not take a horse and carriage ride through the streets to discover what there is to offer! Perfect for couples and groups, this resort is perfect for those seeking a relaxing break but still want to have the option of exploring the surrounding area.

This resort is especially good for active holidaymakers, with golf, cycling and hiking popular within the area.

Soll review

"Quiet village but well located in Tyrol"

88%
of reviewers would recommend this
resort to a friend

Open quote

A quiet but pleasant village, Soll is well located fairly central within the Tyrol region. There are the usual handful of shops, bars and restaurants in the village centre, and lifts into the hills.

We didn't really have much of an opportunity to explore as we were on a business trip, however I'd happily stay here with a view to taking in as many of the area's attractions as possible during my stay.

Quiet, sophisticated, beautiful. Several restaurants that we visited all provided good quality food at very reasonable prices. There is so much to see and do here in the summer. With the added benefits of really good skiing in the winter this place is a superb holiday resort and should not be missed!
