"Expensive Shops"
Overall Resort Rating:
Very pretty wee town, but very expensive, Gucci, Cartier, Vitton, all had shops there. Lots of people there too, that clearly had lots of money, one could tell by the lurex gold hotpants on the botox lips, hanging from the older man with the 'golden' tan. I'm sorry, I'm smiling when I type this, but it's true. However, there was some great entertainment in town, they have a moving stage and go for the traditional bands, and there was a concert one night in the square. The beer and cake was no more expensive than anywhere else in Austria, thankfully, in the towns at least. On top of the mountains however, it's a comparative bargain. Try it, go for the hills, Wilder Kaiser are gorgeous!!

"Kitzbuhel"
Overall Resort Rating:
This proved to be an excellent base for walking. We bought the 3 day Summer lift pass that gave 3 days worth of cable car rides plus free use of the local post buses (all week) + free use of the Aqua Centre. At 40 E it was a bargain. Of the 3 local Cable car rides we found the Panoramabahn to give the best views from the top. To get there, use the free bus pass to Breitmoos (this is the middle station) Take the cable ride to the top and walk around the circular walk at the top or one of the other routes to come down - or take the cable car up and down to the other side of the mountain. The Kitzbuhelerhorn and the Hannenkamm are both worth going up for the views but I would not recommend walking down - there is really no point and you'll just end up with sore knees. There are lovely walks around both mountain tops - a very interesting information 4 seasons walk at the top of the Hannenkamm and then a relatively easy walk from the Hannenkamm past the Ehrenbachhohesee (mountain pond) to come down the Fleckalmbahn Cable car and a bus ride back or walk back along the valley past the Schwarzee lake to Kitzbuhel. The walks cater for all abilities from easy flat river and valley walks to rambles in the lower slopes or high level hiking. The best views are from the top of the mountains but there are many other lovely quiet walks ambling through the lower slopes passing wonderful meadows with beautiful farm houses but still having fantastic views of the mountains round about. If you don't fancy independent walking then there are a selection of FREE guided walks from the information centre in the town.

A lovely resort with plenty to do in and around. The local Tourist board do much to attract events to the area and provide local evening entertainment. The walking guides employed by the local tourist board, Englebert and Madeleine, are both superb and much loved by their following.

"Austria - Kitzbuhel"
Overall Resort Rating:
The other guests were nearly all British but there were other guests from Switzerland and Holland there for a few days. We met some lovely people and a lot of them had stayed here before. The hotel even had umbrellas for guests to use but fortunately the weather was lovely while we were there ,some days it was over 30c even at the top of the mountains.I wouldnt hesitate to use this hotel again as it is a little gem.
