Our second visit to Austria, first to Seefeld and first time with Inghams.
Firstly we were booked in to the Hotel Kreuzseehof however when we arrived we were advised that we would have been the only 2 guests so they moved us the the sister Hotel, the Alpina. Well boy did we score on that one!!
The hotel is situated about 8 minute walk from the centre of Seefeld, in a quiet residential area. We were given a very warm welcome and shown to our room which was huge, with a balcony which overlooked the stunning mountain scenery. Big double bed, 2 comfy chairs and table, plenty storage space etc. Bathroom was large as well although probably the most dated part of the room. Usual shower half way up the wall, over the bath (typical in Austria)
Now for the best part, the food. Simply wonderful. So much attention to detail and the food was always beautifully presented. 5 courses, starter, salad buffet, soup course, choice of main course then desert. Also unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks with evening meals!!
The head waiter Wolfgang was excellent and all the dining room staff were very attentive.
For our first few days we were the only British guests in the hotel as it was full of Germans. This didn't bother us but we did miss the ";social"; side in the evening. Even when some British guests arrived later in the week, think they all disappeared to bed after dinner!!
Seefeld is a beautiful little town. We were there at the start of the season so it was pretty quiet and unfortunately the cable cars were not open. The weather was superb too apart from one day of rain. There are some superb walks around the town, all well signposted from easy to hard treks!!
After reading on other reviews on here, we were very keen to visit Mittenwald in Germany. We were not disappointed as it was the most stunning little place ever. Noticed that it was also considerably cheaper than Seefeld for things like beer, tea and even gifts. We also took the train to Munich however a VERY good tip we got was don't buy your ticket from Seefeld as it would cost you 53.80 euro PP so 107.60 for the 2 of us. Instead buy a ticket from Seefeld to Mittenwald which is 11.80 (23.60 for 2) then stay on the train and buy a ticket from Mittenwald to Munich which was an unbelievable 12 Euros each. So we in total we saved about 60 Euros doing it that way!! Something to do with buying in Germany for Germany!! Unfortunately it poured down the day we were in Munich however we had a very nice lunch in Augustiners!! Oh and a few Weiss beer!! Talking of beer, the Weiss beer is just something else. Hubby also took a liking to the dark beer dunkles!
We found Inghams to be very professional and unobtrusive and we would definitely use them again. The only complaint was that we had to pay for food and drink on the flight over despite our invoice confirming meal, however we (and a few others) have raised this with Inghams who are looking into the matter.
To summarise a fabulous holiday, wonderful resort and hotel and would definitely recommend.
