very clean. very friendly and helpful staff. In some rooms the lighting is dull due to electrical voltage. a kettle in room would be helpful.

This was an Inghams 'Taste of Austria' holiday so we knew the resort but not the accomodation, but we were extremely happy with the Gasthof Mauth.
Next time we do 'taste Of Austria' we'll ask for Gasthof Mauth in the comments field.

It's centrally located on the pedestianised main square, so there's no irksome walk into town because you're there! Being away from the traffic it's very quiet at night time.
The Gasthof Mauth is also a great location to enjoy the festivals in the main square, live music, freeflowing beers but everyone very well-behaved and friendly. There's no litter, cars are limited to 20mph in town and they slow down to let pedestrians cross - after the 'stress' of Britain the Austrians bowl you over with their courtesy.
The Gasthof is family run and the family are very friendly and helpful - they even lent us a plug adaptor. The maids, serving staff are all pleasant, with a cheery and very genuine 'Guten Morgan'.
Their huge St Bernhard dog is a lovely docile chap.
Rooms are very nice, with bath and cleaned daily, and very well sound-insulated from the other rooms.
We were half board and the food was fabulous. Home-cooked and delicious, with free water (orange juice at b'fast), with alcholic drinks extra but reasonable.
St Johann is charming, we bought a ski lift pass and went up the mountains where you find well-signposted walks to the alpine cafe's where you can enjoy food and drinks looking out over the value, it's paradise!
The town is not as small as the Inghams brochure makes out, there's plenty to do e.g. open air pool which is free to Inghams guests.
We took a train to nearby Kitzbuehl and enjoyed mooching round the designer shops.
Bike hire is 10 euros per bike from the Hotel Crystal in St Johann. We did a flat ride along the river to Erpfendorf, then later in the week a more undulating ride to Ehlmau.
All in all our best holiday in Austia yet, thanks to the great location, friendly service and good food of the Gasthof Mauth.
