We have just returned from Easter in Bruges and it was wonderful.
We stayed at the Ter Bruges Hotel which is about 10 mins walk from the main square and alongside a canal. Our accomodation was excellent. Our room was smallish but had great character, we had an original leaded window that opened out over the canal and typically flemish furniture. There was also a TV and radio. We also had a big bathroom with a large bath. All of which was spotless. Breakfast was served in the tastefully refurbished cellar (get down early for a window seat). Breakfast was buffet style with waitresses serving tea and coffee. There was a choice of several types of bread and rolls, meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, yogharts, fruit juices and cerials, and because it was Easter, chocolate eggs. The staff were all very helpful and spoke perfect English.
The only downside to this hotel was two very steep staircases which we had to climb to get to our room. This didn't bother us, but could be difficult for the less able.
We loved Bruges. A weekend wasn't enough to take in all the history, museums, art galleries, unique buildings and shops.
I am already planning my next visit back to Bruges and the Ter Bruges.
