Not very much to do within the resort and the village near our hotel was very fake, I felt like I was on a TV set at some point and not in the middle of Brazil. Everyone we met was very friendly and our best buys were made on the beach (which is lovely). Would strongly recommend getting out of the resort and trying to see the real Brazil.

It is very quiet during the day at the Marriott, however they do have activities throughout the day at the Renaissance. The only problem with this is some of the activities you could not join in with because the animation team spoke little English. In the evening, we went to the centre and sat outside one of the bars where they served wonderful caipirinhas. Most nights they had entertainment in the centre of the village. It made a change to being in the hotel.

We have never felt so relaxed and the rep JB was amazing he deserves three times what he earns as he was such a laugh and always very jolly.

The rooms are very spacious with 2 queen size beds and a full bathroom.

The meals were fantastic both in Jimmy's restaurant (the main one) or the pre booked themed restaurants we particularly loved the Japanese.

Entertainers were plentiful and always spoke and smiled when they saw you, our son loved the kid's club and to be honest did more activities than he has ever done before.

A word of advice if travelling with First Choice thay state on your tickets to take American Dollars but take all Brazillian Real as the bank near the hotel charges 20dollars commission to change travellers cheques which is very expensive. You can take Dollar notes but no cheques unless you are willing to pay the charge.

Things are really cheep if you go to a local village and they are so grateful for your custom.

All in all a fantastic holiday and we will definately be returning in the near future.

overall a fab place.the place was maintained impecibly inside and out. the food was to a high standard, with the jimmy's buffet catering for all tastes, even very fussy ones like us. there are 3 other themed restaurants that you can dine in each 2 times during the fortnight. we eat in the itallian, and the mediterranean 3 times each as we do not like japaneese food which was the other choice.

the food and wine was to a high standard in all of the facilities.

as we had gone to rio for 3 days, that only left around 5 night's where we eat at the buffet.

the only downside that we have on breezes is that they class it a deluxe hotel, but they did not have cushoins on the loungers! the entertainment in the evenings was in a large tent with plastic chairs arranged in a semi circle around the stage, and no drinks available!!.

however the animation team were very good with their daytime activities, and we always saw them in the evenings when they would parade around all the restaurants prior to their shows.

mind you we made so many new friends on this holiday, we were to busy socialising to even think about going to the tent.

all of the staff here were ever so friendly, particularly surprising as the breezes prohibit tipping!! mind you we picked the right moments to show our gratitude to a number of the staff and they did appreciate it, but i am amazed at their enthusiasm considering the general no tipping theme. the other plus point here was that not a local drink in sight only top brand stuff, with fantastic wine, and even better champers... the location of the hotel on the beach was nice, but not as prettily set as i imagined,, the sea though was extremely rough and frankly was not very safe, you could not swim in it however strong a swimmer you were.but it was some fun when you stood at the edge of the shore and then next minute you would be covered by a wave.

the weather in brazil in july august is some what tempremental as it is their winter time, whilst their temp's rarely dip beneath 28 degrees through the year we did experience a fair bit of rain on occassions, frankly we only had 2 days where it did not rain at some point in the day.

however all in all this was a fab holiday, and we met some wonderful new friends and the highlight of the holiday was spending 3 days in rio de janerio , very worthwhile despite costing nearly £900 the astoria palace hotel right on cocacabanna beach was a fab place to spend it in.

Fantastic holiday with First Choice, only downside was we went during the rainy season. THe beaches are amazing. Some of the trips on offer are great as well, on one we canoed down a river for an hour before arriving at the most beautiful and deserted beach. The trip to Rio is also highly recommended.
