Sunny beach was a decent enough place. Beach was lovely, lots of market places but remember dont buy first thing you see as a street down it could be same thing but quite a bit cheaper. McDonalds was a total rip off but i guess it was worth it as the food over there is defo not the same as ive eat abroad. We made the most of our holiday and its cheap enough and you should come home with plenty of markets goods. Enjoy!

Sunny Beach review
"Nice beach, Cheap food and drinks"
resort to a friend
Was ok, always buy one get one free on cocktails. Food is cheap but mostly poor, if you find somewhere nice to eat, then my advice would be to keep going to that place.

Boravets is a purpose built ski resort so the emphasis is on skiing. Most skiers are tired at the end of the day so nightlife comes down low on my list. The pistes are suitable for beginners and Intermediates with a few black pistes. It is not crowded so there are no long queues for the gondola or for the ski hire. In fact the pistes were almost empty. The ski instructors from Boro School of Skiing were brilliant. They spoke english and were patient and helped you improve. My one comment is that I would have liked larger more obvious coloured signs to indicate the piste gradings at junctions. We had good snow and skied every day with lessons both morning and afternoon. I was really pleased with the resort, the pistes were not crowded so you were not having others crashing into you unlike some places I have experienced in the past.It was all in all a lovely place, not expensive but with everything you need for a skiing holiday.

Built to mirror traditional Bulgarian architecture, this hotel is all red-tiled roofs cascading down to Sunny Beach’s sands. Overlooking the scene is a stonework clocktower topped by a weather vane - just like you’d find in a Bulgarian village square. More by way of striking design lies within. Take the lobby. Awash with gleaming marble and espresso-leather armchairs, it’s finished with oyster-pink drapes and a grandfather clock. Even grander is the staircase that sweeps to the upper floors under elaborate chandeliers. The bedrooms, meanwhile, show a lighter touch. All peaches-and-cream elegance, they’re dressed with dainty off-white furniture and sofas. And everything is complemented by satellite TVs, minibars and balconies. The pool, meanwhile, is set in to wide sun terraces. It’s home to a fancy metal pergola that morphs into an illuminated water feature by night. Pull up a chair at the hotel’s Dolphin fish restaurant and you’ll have a ringside seat for the light-and-water show. The facilities here are impressive too. There’s a wellness centre, tennis and beach volleyball on offer. And you’re welcome to use selected facilities at the Helena’s sister hotel, the Helena Park - just cross over the creek that trickles between them. The last word though has to go to the location. The Helena has grabbed what is probably one of the best spots in Sunny Beach. It’s at the quieter end of the resort, facing the beach. And on a more practical note, the town centre is also within easy striking distance - just a 15-minute or so stroll away.

i loved sunny beach, there are loads of bars and clubs for young people, and plenty of places to do a bit of shopping! the beach was a bit dissapointing as we hired a pedalo and realised there were hundreds of jelly fish in the sea, you can go in the sea but stay in shallow waters and be carefull. also if you are going to change travellers cheques u should do so at crown exchange shops which there are loads of around sunny beach. if you don't you will more then likely be ripped off!!!

This UNESCO Heritage site is definitely worth visiting! Best thing to do is stay overnight in one of the monk's cells. Just go there in the morning/early afternoon and ask for a room in the reception area at the back of the monastery. Then look around in the monastery and the beautiful church and marvel at the detail of Rafael's Cross. The next you can hike up yo the cave where Ivan of Rila lived in, and then return to Sofia in the early evening.

Sunny Beach review
"Sunny beach - great for me"
resort to a friend
I went to Sunny Beach with my friend, we're both 25 and we did the Faliraki, Malia holidays when we were 18. When we decided to go on holiday we weren't sure where to go. We didn't want to feel like the oldest most boring pair at a full on party resort. But we didn't want to be playing backgammon with the pensioners either. We decided on Sunny Beach purely because of the price, we reasoned we wanted a week in the sun and if there was no nightlife we'd get over it. Well we were wrong - this resort was perfect for us. The resort is fairly new and you can tell that some thought has gone into the plan of the themes of the bars and restaurants. There are lots of different food options, the beaches are lovely and clean, and the bars are fab. Most of the bars are the type that you'd see in a city centre, modern and funky. The prices of drinks are great too. It was a great place for us to be, as we ended up out every night, there was a mixture of ages, but more of a 20's feel than 16-18 year olds getting off with each other everytime you turn around. Lots of things to do and to try - I would really recommend it.

We really liked Sunny Beach, there were loads of bars and shops and stuff. Plenty to do at night. The beach was quite nice, and everything was pretty cheap we thought. The waterpark is really good too. We would consider going back there again.

Sunny Beach was OK, maybe a bit too touristy for us though. They had all the normal restaurants you get in those sort of places, and plenty of bars. It was really cheap compared to other places we have been, but not really sure we would go back.

Borovets is an excellent little Resort. The entire place you could probably walk around in about 20 minutes as it is all compact and close together.
I dont understand the people who have written bad reviews on this place? They must either be very old or very sad!
If you are an advanced skier or snowboarder then Borovets probably isn't the ideal location for you. If you are an intermediate or beginner then Borovets caters sufficiently for a weeks holiday and lots of fun.
There are two mountains which both run into Borovets - The more accessible of the two is the Rila mountain. This is made up of a mixture of Green, Blue, Red and Black runs. The entire mountain takes about 15 minutes to snowboard down dependent on how good you are - for someone like me - thats probably more like 25 mins with me having to pick me self up every two minutes!
The other mountain is allot bigger and will take an advanced Snowboarder dependent on what run they should choose about an 45mins - 1 hour. My self it took me about 1hr 30mins to get down using the blues and long red runs. If you are a beginner Snowboarder do not do what we did and take the Masala Pathway - it looks easy and is advertised as a long blue run but unless you are advanced enough to keep your speed up you will have to keep unclipping and walking every so often. If you are a skier or advanced snowboarder and can keep the pace up then this is a great twisty run. Took my friend about 45 mins to do from top to bottom non stop! Took me about 2.5hours however due to my inability to travel at high speeds on my snowboard without falling over!
We where so lucky with the weather - we had massive snowfall twice in the week - and where riding thick powder about 1.5ft deep on day 3. Next day gorgeous sunshine!! Again giving us amazing conditions and the opportunity to go up the main gondola and check out the stunning views.
The weather fluctuates quickly at the resort - one day it was thick snow fall the next gorgeous sunshine!! - I think we where very lucky however so prob worth keeping tabs on the weather reports to get a better picture.
The resort isn't cheap cheap - its about UK prices to eat out on a day to day basis - however, expect to pay no more than £10 - £20 for a good quality evening meal and probably alot less! Our favourite place was a little hut next to the main lift Gondola. Looked very modest however was really nice place -The guy who runs the place looks like an old version of Fonzzy so we nick named it Happy days! - The food in there was excellent - On our last night we went and had flaming satch - which was a mixture of vegitables, different meats and had vodka poured on it (i think) and set alight! Was so nice and tasty! Didnt last long lets put it that way!! + if you want to be forced to drink shots then - this is the place!! Our entire meal we where being given free shots of Sambuca and other local shots!! - Drunkeness on exit is probable!
Another great place to eat was the Mexican opposite our hotel. (Royal Plaza) We had to book a table and we could see why!! The place was heaving - they had a band playing who where fantastic!! The whole place was full of atmosphere and the food was tasty too! We also went to Chinese - Red Dragon - Again - really nice!
Negative things about Borovets - if you are going with small kids - then there is an element of sleaze about the place - there are a couple of strip clubs etc with a few scantily dressed women on the decor of the buildings - however it is non intrusive and we where never hassled by anyone to go in the clubs - so if you do have a family and worried about this - dont be!! Its not going to impact your stay in anyway apart from you maybe having to put your hands over your kids eyes when you walk past bars!
Club to go to in Borovets is the Buz Bar - Plays a mixture of UK Chart music and general tunes you here on Radio 1 over here and a mixture of old tunes you will recongise! Reminded me of being in my old student union!
Overall opinion of Borovets - Fantastic!! - Location is excellent - Transfer is quick - (1hr from sofia) Food is good - Slopes are good fun but not too taxing and people at the resort are all fantasic! Our Hotel was top rate too so if you want somewhere nice to stay at a competitive price check out the royal plaza! www.rentapartments.bg
Dont go expecting a Alps type ski resort - do go expecting great atomosphere lots of fun and a feeling you wish you could stay longer!
