After some of the things i read about this hotel and resort i was a little anzious. But as soon as i got there they went away. There were people waiting in the reception area to take our bags to our room. Yes you did have to pay then a little tip but to be honest if i didnt have them i would have spent the next hour trying to find the room. They were very pleasant.
The first few days we were there it was like try and spot the english man, and there was not one free sun lounger after about 9.30 this forced us to the beach. There are a few ways to get to the beach. you could get the free bus, the train or simply walk. The train and the bus take you to different ends of the beach so i would recomend you try both!
The food was quite similar every day but the vast variety of what was offered made it easy enough to have a 3 course meal every night which was different.
The animation team were great and the shows in the evening were spectacular.
In the evenings in albena there were pleantly of nice bars to go and sit in. People were complaining about the ";ladies"; but we never found them a problem in fact they werent in your face at all and we found it wuite amusing to try and spot them.
Overall the holiday was very good. I would recomend it.
Having read some negative comments about this hotel, we found that yes the hotel had its fair share of ignorant Germans however why should you let others spoil your holiday, play them at their own game.

We had a fab time in and around the hotel food fine, don't expect package holiday food from Spain as that is catering solely for the English this hotel had a cross section of nationalities thus food has to be geared to please all.
The resort of Albena is not for those who want a hustle and bustle resort, it for those who want to completely chill out and jump of the rat race treadmill for a few days.

Just got back from Bulgaria hotel Vita Park.
Fist the good points,,
Hotel rooms were very clean and where cleaned every day.
The cleaners where very nice even though they spoke very little english.
The restaurant was very large and clean and the food was very nice.
There was a good selection of hot and cold foods and salad and fresh fruit.
The pool area and loungers where cleaned each day and there were lots of loungers .
The pool bar has a large selection of hot and cold drinks .
There is also a snack bar that has drinks and supplies snacks ie chips, pitzza, and salads all day this also has a large seating area.
AND NOW FOR THE BAD POINTS ,,
on arival at the hotel their was one person behind the reception desk to deal with about 50 hoiliday makers. When you arrive 5-30 am you just whant to go to your room for a sleep.
And when you get your keys two bell boys snatch your bags out of your hand rush you to your rooms and stand there untill you give them a tip.
Dont expect to sleep after 10.00 am we where rudley awoken by loud music from the pool bar.
After geting up at about 10.01 am tried to get a sun lounger in the pool erea but all the germans had there
towels already on them.
We had two children with us and we where told there was plenty of things for them to do . Well there is if your kids can speak german. This hotel is verey german based.
Then comes the night time
Absolutley nothing to do for the kids apart from two computers witch you had to pay for or a pool table which you also had to pay for .
You can go over the road to the sister hotel where they have some entertaiment
on a night time wich is not verey good .
Because there is nothing to do on a night time every body sits in the reception bar area where their are not enough seats so lots of people had to sit on the stairs.
The local bear that they serve you in the hotel very poor as are the local spirits.
Most of the tim they had no glasses behind the bar so they served you beer in half pint plastic cups whitch made the beer taste even worse.
The bar stopes serving your free alcohol at 11.00 o clock on the dot you can pay for your drinks after that but they charge us diffrent prices every time we went to the bar.
The male toilets next to the reception where realy smelly its a shame because the rest of the hotel is very clean.
Overall the hotel Vita Park is verey nice but if you have booked your holiday here i suggest you take a crash course in german if you can't already speak it .
I would not recommend this hotel to people with children as there is nothing apart from the swimmig pool, computers, pool table.
WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THE HOTEL VITA PARK

After reading some reiews about this hotel and its food i was a little apprehensive, there was a party of 14 of us and i can honestly say that not one of us complained about anything.
The entertainment was entertaining done mostly by the animation team who are very friendly the kids loved the shows there is a mini disco for the kids but it only lasts 30 minutes and only every other night, there was plenty of room by the pool, the food was very nice and something for everyone, the complex is very clean as is Albena, there is a free shuttle bus to the beach although it is only a 10 minute leisurely stroll. We changed our currency before going but next time we will change it there as you get a better exchange rate and most of the hotels there will change money for you and they all have the same exchange rate .
Albena itself is not very big but there are plenty of eateries and bars some with live entertainment, Karaoki bars, beach bars, Sky sports. you can get a lovely kebab on the beach front for only 4 lev (approx £1.40). There are ladies of the night as they are called but they start to come out about 3pm (not quite the night), they did not bother any of us and it was quite entertaining watching them. My mother in law and I took a taxi (70 lev)into Balchic we did not think much of this city many of the shops sold the same thing and you could of got that in Albena and saved yourself 70 lev, our friends went to Nessebar and they loved it, we also went on the jeep safari trip which was great fun it was also safe enough to take the kids (maybe not the 2 year old)although we did not, half of us went a different day so we took turns looking after them. The weather was fantastic.
We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We have only just got back (6.6.06) and are thinking of going to Bulgaria again next year.

We have been to Hotel Drouzhba in Albena twice. It has to be the most friendly and comfortable hotel that we have ever stayed in, they all make you feel so welcome and at home. The food in the hotel is very good and you are just around the corner from the pool and the beach. Our favourite eating places are Poco Loco, Izvora,Staria Dub, Peter's House,Tropical,La Bomba and Slavianski Kat. The resort is all flat therefore it is suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. The staff in the bar and waiters are good fun they are called Danny,Zak,Vinnie,Sven and Mike. Ivor is the boss he is very good to our children,he gives them free sweets all the time. He even rang us one day when we got home to see how we all were.
We are going back again now in 24th June, can't wait neither can the kids.Highly recomended for families and a very relaxing holiday with brilliant people.

This was our first trip to Bulgaria and read so many mixed reviews that we weren't sure we'd chosen the right place. So I now feel I must give our opinion just to help someone else in our position:
We were so pleasantly surprised with everything. We arrived at about 1am after a delayed flight and the hotel opened up their restaurant so that we could all get something to eat and drink. The delayed flight was the only down side to our holiday. Our room was basic but in an ideal place overlooking a court yard with a bar so that we could but the children to bed, leave the patio door open and sit outside having a drink. The resort itself is so clean and tidy as was our room. The maid worked like a deamon tyding our room, and with two small children that's no easy task. The grounds are maintained to a very high standard. The pools were very clean, although very cold because it was May. After a couple of days of sun they warmed up a bit and didn't stop us jumping in. We didn't try the small indoor pool but other guests said it was good.
It was also our first 'all inclusive' holiday and I have to say I'm glad we did. We hardly spent any other money at all. However, it's amazing what a small 'tip' to the people behind the bar will do. The restaurant catered for almost every nationality who were staying there. If you don't like foreign food there was always lots of chips and rice. Endless salads, cold meats (not all German!!), fresh fruit. Every night we had no problem finding something different to have a full 3 course meal including fresh vegetables. Staff were so efficient a friendly and they really didn't mind if you ask for something to be 'well don'.
In addition there a quite a few smaller bars and food places. We found these quite sufficient for lunch time, then going to the restaurant for supper. Good idea to get there early if you're fussy about where you sit. Seating both indoors and out.
Albena is about a 10 min walk from the hotel where you can also find lots of restaurants and bars. Again, so friendly and speak very good English. We found fish fingers, mash, peas and carrots for the children in the Tropical Cafe.
The beach is wonderful and very clean. More food places, although quite a few places were only just opening up because it was right at the beginning of the season. I had the feeling that in a couple of weeks, everywhere would be in full swing and very busy. We went 11-18 May.
In short, all four of us had a really nice - cheap holiday and are looking to book again next year - at the Ralitsa!

We went to Bulgaria for our honeymoon in July, I wasn't sure about going there but my partner was adament. Anyway I couldn't have asked for a better holiday it was fantastic, the hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful, I'm a fussy eater so didn't like the AI resteraunt much really, Simon liked it but he's very adventurous where as I stick to what I like!! The only meal we had in AI was breakfast where I usually had boiled eggs with crusty bread, at lunch we'd just eat from the AI BBQ (pizza, pasta etc)or somewhere on the beach and most evenings we ate out as very very cheap, I'd reccommend POCO LOCO's to anyone, their food was amazing and they entertained you whilst you ate with brilliant dance performances, and were so friendly.
The beach is gorgeous, with local's selling fresh fruit to you on your beds, there are lots of activities on the beach, we went jet skiing, on a pedalo, banana boat you name it. Scattered along the beach are lots of bars, resteraunts, massage parlours everything!! There's a brilliant karaoke bar on the beach where we went to celbrate Si's 40th, the DJ was very funny and had everyone involved even those who couldn't sing (me!!) got up to do something!! We went into Varna one day but chose to get the bus rather than taxi as taxi drivers will and did try to rip us off, found it very boring so got first bus back, most days spent by the pool which was lovely.Everything is unbelievably cheap, there is something for everyone to do. Desperate to go back again this year!!!

We have now stayed in hotel Drouzhba in Albena twice, 2004 and 2005. The hotel staff are very friendly. Their names are Zak,Mike,Sven,Vinny and the boss Ivor. The hotel is situated on one of the little shopping streets, it is only around the corner from the beach and the pool. The breakfast taken in the Slavianka next door is very nice they have all kinds of food, they even have a healthy eating table laid out with all types of low fat foods. The best eating places are Izwora, Poco Loco, Peter's House,Tropical,Staria Dub,La Bomba and Rai. The beaches are very clean and so are the pools.
The resort is totally flat so it is suitable for anyone with walking difficulties or the elderly. Also there is plenty to do for the kids, plenty of amusements. The hotel rooms are cleaned every day and the cleaners are very nice. Ivor the boss is very good to our kids, giving them free sweets etc. It is a very homely place and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Ivor rang me last summer to thank me for some traditional soevenirs that we sent him to put up in his new Irish bar. Looking forward to seeing them all again this June,2006 can't wait counting the days.
Would recommend this hotel and resort to anyone who is looking for a good relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Went to Bulgaria with an open mind as i had never been before. When we got to the hotel it only took 10mins to get checked in the staff where very friendly and couldnt do enough for you.the weather was brill a bit too hot at times and our hotel was right on the beach which was a bonus.
The beach is 1 of the best i have ever been to it is very clean and the sea is pure blue and very clean aswell. Make sure you keep all your bags and belongings with you at all times when you are at the beach or at the pool cuz my mum was lying by the pool with her bag beside her and someone stole it on her with my dads passport in it so that put a bit of a dampener on the hol. there is only 1 night club so wouldnt suggest any1 to go who is looking to go clubbin all the time but is a great place for familys and older couples.
hada great hol and am returning again this summer.
