On our first visit to this hotel they had a health problem and most of us were ill. This year it was much improved. The only problem occurs at meal times at the hotel restaurant. Too many people arrive at the same time, which involves a major seating problem. It is advisable to arrive early for all meals as you get a better chance of a seat. However not many people seem to take lunch at the hotel restaurant so no such problem exists for this meal. The children found that it that they could order a pizza or chips for free at the bar and also there was a ice cream dispenser. A mini buffet of snacks was available during lunchtime. There is a lot to discover in Albena especially for children such as: archery, go karting(very fast!!),mini golf, tennis to name but a few. We reccomend the bar on the beach 'Ganvie' and the bar 'Poco Loco' (good entertainment) and La Bomba.

Overall we have enjoyed our 2 holidays in Albena and definitely hope to return.

We went to Orchidea Park in June 2005 for a week on all inclusive basis. We originally booked the Compass Hotel and were told on our arrival that we had been moved. However, our hotel was alot nicer than where we were supposed to be. On our arrival the staff had prepared us all a plate of food each which we were not expecting.

The first night we were given a room different room due to the holiday company not booking enough rooms, however it was good enough and the next day we were moved to a large room with a double bed and a single bed (although there was only the 2 of us).

*the accomodation was brilliant, the rooms were large and in such good condition with no marks anywhere. The bathroom was very clean with a big double shower.

*the maids cleaned our room almost everyday with new towels and bedding, although they did wake us up sometimes with the hoovers!

*the pool area was very good with a range of different pools and a good bar and barbeque hut where you could sit in the shade and have food all day long.

*we were all inclusive and there was a range of food always available including ice cream everywhere. The food however was aimed at Germans and you could spot who was English by what they were eating! Also, one of us got ill from eating some fish on one night. But if you like different meats, fruits and vegetables you'll be fine.

*the resort was fairly quiet but with enough bars and shops to keep you entertained. We suggest Peter's Steak House which has HUGE steaks at realy cheap prices, we also went to the Laguna Hotel bar where they have strong cockails and are so friendly.

*the beach is huge and brilliant, the water was warm after a few days of sun and very shallow so great for kids.

*only problem with the hotel is it is on the hill which means either walking along the long roads or taking short cut down the hill of steps which got tiring and annoying. However, there are frequent little trains that run tourists around the hotels in that part for only 2levs (about 50p)

We would not hesitate going back to Albena thanks to friendly locals, a nice beach, lovely and picturesque setting, and cheap food and drink.

Hotel was nice, very clean, staff very friendly, rooms clean. pool was OK but we used the sister hotel, Magnolia as we felt it was nicer for our Daughter, it had slides for her to play on. Food was terrible, we were all inclusive and ate out in the evenings, it was cheap enought to eat out about 10.00 pounds for a meal for 3 including drinks, the hotel done pizza made to order which we ate some afternoons, and the Magnolia done baguettes so we ate them.

Bars are very good along the front, POCO LOCO was great, food and entertainment, Tropical cafe was great for food, do nice steaks, Peters bar do great food, Rai bar do good food and entertainment, fireworks later on at night.

All in all a great family resort, not to comersializes, plenty to keep you going for 2 weeks. You can barter with the shops if you buy more than one to get an even better bargain although it is great value. We were disapointed with the food in our hotel, but we got our moneys worth with pizza, baguettes alcohol, juice and ice cream.
would recommend Bulgaria, but I would try fro the hotel Magnolia.

Orchideja park is an older Hotel which has been modernised to a good standard, the bathrooms and bedrooms are lovely and are kept clean. The cleaners probably earn more in tips and leftover deodrants and shampoo etc.

The Pool area was nice too.
Downsides are : the food is 99% german so if you like a lot of pork your ok. We ate out as it was so cheap, but it was annoying when you have paid for all inclusive. Also entertainment company were German so if you spoke german you were ok.

we may go back in a few years but to Sunny beach where there are a lot more english people
