"Hotel Royal Park review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
we visited the royal park as a bit of a cheap and cheerful holiday this year and i must say you pay for what you get. bulgaria is a great place but in 5 years, they'll actually know how to handle the tourists. the weather was amazing the first week and then all of a sudden, it down pour and thunder and lightening hit. its very scary. we had read all about the playboy shot in the middle of this family hotel and we're so worried but it wasnt as bad as we thought.
transfer was a bit long and airport is manic but the rep jimmy on the bus made it all worthwhile with his jokes and banter with the kids. he was brilliant, checked us all in and made sure i had a cot and everything. top class.
we went to the reps talk and it was quite entertaining although one lad wesely looked like he was about to wet himself everytime he spoke. we booked the shopping trip- nothing much in bergus but nessebar is lovely, my husband did istanbul and had an amazing time. we all went to the reps night and it was the best night of our holiday- they were so talented.
food a bit yuck and the kids ate only chicken nuggets (when they had them) and chips and bread but you pay for what you get. we ate ok- chicken a bitt undercooked. salads and fruit delicious. pizza que miles to long and hotdogs a bit dry.
rooms were fine, we had a kids den and it was clean and nice- maid was lovely.
we did have to complain to the reps on our second week and the kids were very ill. there was no point talking to wezz- he looked spaced and didnt have a clue what to say- useless. jen was a great help and ver professional and brought us fresh sheets and towels when the kids were poorly- lovely lovely girl. jimmy was nice too. but when their 'manager' with red hair got involved he let them all down. he was rude and obnoxious and didnt have a clue what to say to us and spoke to the reps shortly, without manners. poor show for FC management.
kids liked the club and went a few times.
the shows were great especially the school of rock- we loved deano and wayne and tara!!!!!
all in all- cheap and cheerful and it was the people that make the holiday
you have to visit the little town next to elenite called vlas for a taste of local life, enjoy!!!

Overall Hotel Rating:
We arrived back home on the 5th August after 1 week at Royal Park ,I felt that I had to write a review after reading so many bad comments about this resort.
We had an absolutely brilliant time,we were very impressed by the hotel, although the reception staff could look a bit happier but were very helpful when asked advise and their English was very good. Our room was large enough for the 4 of us,tho my 13 year old wasn't too impressed that he had to sleep on a fold out bed.Only 1 channel of English TV but we didn't really spend any time in the room only for sleeping.
Facilities in Elenite resort we thought were brilliant and my 3 children always found something to do,which I was worried about before we went away as teenagers can sometimes be a bit difficult,my youngest had plenty of opportunity to go to the First Choice Kids Club, which I thought was very well run, they have so much energy, and gave me some time to myself. The food was ok,something different every day for the evening, always a well stocked salad bar,and fruit and local cakes for dessert. You could eat in one of the many snack bars all day,the pizza place was a favorite, although lunch was always set up in the dining room if you felt the need for a meal.None of us suffered any stomach upsets. We were told out there that the chicken looks a bit pink because of what the chickens are fed on,just like our corn fed chickens are more yellow.
The First Choice Entertainments team was very professional, kept going all day until 11pm,after that there was entertainment in the form of karioke in the galaxy bar - part of the Elenite Village.
The whole complex was very safe - lifeguards on duty all day at every pool and on the beach.
My youngest learnt to swim with Joni in the swim kids.
We had a brill week and wish we had 2 weeks and would definately go back.

I stayed for 2 weeks at the Royal Park in Elenite Bulgaria with First choice. I would just like to say that this was the best holiday I have ever had. This was almost entirely down to the First choice Entertainments team, ( Tara, Deano, Scott, Natasha, Nathan, emma , wayne and the lovely lovely Carrie). The standard of daytime and evening activities for both kids and adults was more than exceptionally high and meant that we were scared to leave the hotel in the evening in case we missed another outstanding show.
If you don't book with this team at this hotel you need your head examining.
Thanks guys

very impressive on arrival, we were given a packed lunch as we arrived in the middle of the night, impressed with that. the room was for a family of 4 it was ample in size.
welcome meeting was a bit naff they only wanted to seel their excursions, no info on drinking the water etc...
breakfast consisted of anything that u wanted from cooked to continental to cereal fruits etc...
bar snacks were hotdogs there was a pizza/kebab place on the beach, yummy!
evening meal was fine, if you are quiet fussy then you may struggle.
the water park is good fun for the kids and adults too! 10 lev for 2 sunbeds in the waterpark.
worth going into sunny beach for a bit of a shop, although the shops in the hotel worked out simular in price.
the maids/cleaners worked solidly throughout, all really cheerful.
did have a funny stomach for a couple of days, i think it was more of a change in eating and drinking habits was more to blame=0
we went on the lazy days boat trip, its worth a go, good fun=)
please dont be put off by the bad reports i think these people were a bit unlucky, as we would thouroughly recomend it.

we cant beleieve this is the same hotel we went to!! we had a fantastic time, hotel was spotless, food was great. my only complaint was the dining room was not big enough for the size of the hotel & getting a table was stressfull. when we seen reports we were so shocked, my husband myself & our 13 yr son had a great time at the newly built water park & was even thinking of going next year as we enjoyed it so much.

Overall Hotel Rating:
We stayed in the Royal Park the end of August to early Septemeber and think the holiday would have been so much more enjoyable if we booked earlier in the year as the weather in Bulgaria is not hot or sunny at this time of year. We had 5 warm days and the rest were cloudy and cold. We didnt look like we haad been a holiday when we got home (no sun tan).
The hotel was VERY impressive, clean and no problems with hygiene or health on the 2 weeks we were there. There is not a lot to do in the way of entertaining, our 10 year old was sooo bored as the entertainment is suited to younger children and there is none for adults! A 10 minute bus ride into Sunny beaches solved this problem for us though, plenty to do there. (well worth it)
The down side to this hotel is definately the alcohol, for an all inclusive resort the beer is 2% and couldnt get a 2 year old tipsy and there is only beer and undrinkable vodka available other than soft drinks. The food is fine though for adults and children alike but the wasp's at the beach were unbelieveable (couldnt imagine what this is like during the hot season) but without word of a lie it is like a wasp farm, they are everywhere especially if you are eating or drinking soft drinks. We never got to finish a pizza or soft drink on the beach as a wasp always ended up floating on it! Given that the beach is spotless and comfortable if dont have a wasp phobia!!!
This is a relaxing holiday as there is not much to do, but in comfortable surroundings. We walked down to the horse ranch every other night and fed fruit to the horses for something to do! There is water park being built and should be finished and open for Summer 2007 which would be an added bonus to this holiday as it is a 2 minute walk from the gate and part of the complex.
I wouldnt put anyone off this holiday as everyone is different and a holiday is what you make it, friendly staff, clean hotel and safe environment are a must for us and we had this at the Royal Park but make sure you bring your own entertainment! x

Overall Hotel Rating:
This Hotel and resort has received many mixed reviews in the past - I can honestly say this was the best holiday we have had!!!
The hotel lies in a large all inclusive complex - we arrived through the night but the next morning it was a very pleasant surprise that we woke to. The complex itself has about 4-5 pools but the 2 main ones used for the Royal Park were large, fun and once you braved the initial coolness of the water felt warm and inviting. Right on the doorstep, about 5 steps down was an amazing beach looked after by life guards, water was very warm and shallow - great for the kids! - sun loungers and parasols are free on the beach and the hotel grounds and plentiful. There is a jetty with daily boat trips to sunny beach and Nessebur, and for those without sea legs there is a good supply of taxis and a bus stop right outside the main gates of the hotel. New for 2006 and therefore not advertised in the first choice brochure is an onsite water park with free entry, two seperate areas for younger kids and plenty of slides for older ones too.
There are two entertainments teams in the resort, the hotels animation team who have activities all day and evening - aqua aerobics, games and very friendly staff. The first choice entertainments team are just that - very entertaining and have their own activities programmes all day and evening.
Food choice in the buffet restaurant is great with loads of choice and food was delicious. There were other speciality restaurants which need reservations booked the same day but to be honest we didnt bother as the buffet was fine. Snacks are available through the day - pizzas sandwiches hot dogs, all staff were very friendly. Rooms were large, comfortable and we had a sea view which was lovely. We had expected a lower standard of hotel given the country and problems it has however the hotel was more 5* than 4. Also in the complex is its own shopping mal, playground and pubs!!
This is by far the best holiday we have ever had, I would recommend it to anybody reading, we will certainly be going back

Overall Hotel Rating:
we booked at last min and then read reviews on this hotel,we was quite worried but to our surprise it was nothing like people had said, our room was big and clean, some times the cleaner forgot to leave bath towells which soon arrived when we told the reception, there was plenty of bars, the pools were lovley, yes a bit cold first thing in a morning but you get that any were,
loads of shops and very cheap,3 tattooing and piercing shops, also theres 2 arcades at each end of the complex next to the bars and near the nightclub so the kids can play while you have a drink, most of the money we spent was by my son in there every night, the kids can go in the nightclub but in the pay irish bar they cant after 12,the other irish bar at other end they can go in there all night,
the swim up bar does spitroast chicken, very popular, but check its cooked as my son had some one day and it was still raw i took it back and the next days they cooked all the chickens well done, the other pool bar does hotdogs which is great for the kids because they can just come out of the pool and get them, there was the pizza place right at the bottom back of the stage which always has a queue, but its worth the wait as they are really nice, and over towards the middle hotel theres a white tent like building serving kebabs, and yes yet another big queue but worth it,the food in the buffet its ok loverly salads and soups, and they do really try,we had a power cut while we was there at dinner time and the staff tryed really hard to get what food had been cooked out,no one could have drinks from the pumps, only water and spirits,we just went to the shop and bought cold bottles of beer that cost next to nothing and sat laughing at everyone going to the bars and getting water and complaining,we didnt let it spoil our day,one thing i can say you wont starve and theres food for the kids at the bottom end of buffet near were you get the icecream from which has all their favorites,so they are happy if they dont like whats on offer in the main buffet, they even had sunday lunch in afternoon with beef or chicken, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding, very nice, all the things about no knife and folks and plates has all changed they have really tried to change and theres pleny of every thing,
the beach is clean and very safe there are life guards every were on the beach and around the pools, plenty going off if you want to get involved or if you dont they dont hassle you,the first choice team are all mad really good fun youll find someone around all the time if you have any problems or youll see one or more floating in the pool because they probably been thrown in,the water park on site is free but you have to pay for beds and drinks which isnt much, and loads of life guards again so you can let the kids go on their own knowing they are safe, taxis and buses right outside the gates very cheap 20lev in taxi to sunny beach or 2lev each on the bus,we went out to eat there one night for a change very nice and very cheap, all i can say about this hotel is its lovley and has tryed really hard to get the bad bits from earlier sorted, any problems just let them know and they are straight onto it,we are going back next aug,but for 2wks as 1 wasnt enough

In awe when we first arrived at 6am, reception was beautiful, bellboy taking bags to your room, packed lunch handed out and water in fridge in room.
Rooms were lovely and had carpet! have never been abroard and had carpet always been tiled floors, bath was a little steep when getting out, took me a couple of days to get used to this. We had a sea view and it was beautiful. Our cleaner was fabulous our room was always spotless and she greeted us when ever we saw her, the day we left she kept kissing us saying she will miss us and she loves England.
Staff- some were friendly, the woman on the pizza bar is miserable, some of the beachbar staff were ok but not over friendly, most annoying thing was in the evenings they only had 2 barstaff on, the queues were ridiculous. In the Morris bar you have Torro, Sylvina and Ivo, they are great, very friendly after you've visited a couple of times. Our youngest son had a bad ear and the cleaner in the Morris bar sorted him, every time we went in there she was so pleased to see us, she cried so much when we left it was awful- we gave them all 20 levs (£8 each) when we left to say thankyou are they were so grateful.
Dining staff little off except the young man who speaks really good English behind the bar in there, hes really lovely and friendly. Other cleaners around the building eg. the toilet cleaners and the pool area cleaners are just rude!!!
Visit pacos its great fun order a bottle of Calpol (its a strawberry pina colada liqueur)and bloody gorgeous they sell it in banana, coconut, chocolate and kiwi aswell we tried nearly all of them and from the shop its only 10 levs a bottle (£4), do not each at the restaurant just outside the gates its German and they are not friendly at all! Do visit Sunny beach and go to the Chinese restaurant there opposite the Marvel Hotel its lovely and shopping there is good but you wont get alot more than you can get in the hotel shopping centre, copies are good copies.Entertainment- Tara, Nathan, Carrie, Emma were fantastic and can't stress this enough, Dino is fab but a little shy, Wayne the entertainment manager is ok but never relaxes, Natasha was great sometimes really friendly and a fantastic dancer, then theres Scott very professional and good at what he does but not over freindly and slightly arrogant (its a young thing!). The activities were good and the evening shows were great, Grease rocked! We highly reccommend the reps 'Saturday Night Live' show in Sunny Beach it was excellent. Even though we didn't have children in the kids clube the 3 girls Ciera, Natalie and Jenny are fantastic sooooo friendly.
Food pizza gorgeous, hotdogs lovely a little off putting having to queue up every time for it though, restaurant food was ok, it wasn't brilliant but its not the worst I've had either, did eat out a couple of nights though. It was like a cattle market and sometimes took food out to pool area on plastic plates cause couldn't be bothered to grapple for tables all the time, try the sweetcorn soup its is surprisingly lovely!
All in all lovely place but do not feel there is enough of anything to accommodate the amount of poeople there. Finally if you are lucky enough to have people from Manchester there make sure you pal up with them, they are the greatest! We have just made 2 of the best friends we've ever had and will definately be seeing them in the future so Dave(rubbish!)and Kelly thankyou for making our holiday a fantastic one, love ya.

BAD BITS Food no better than cheap 2 star hotels.DIARRHOEAL and SICKNESS,wife came down with it withing 36 hours off arrival, went to medical centre on site,PUT ON GLUCOSE DRIP,for 1hour,then injection and lots of tablets to take.Daughter had it next day ,would not have drip so had injection, and tablets.HAD to pay £65 excess 2TIMES to medical centre for treatment.Wife went back next day still ill ,put on drip again.was ill most off holiday.Daughter was better after 2days.MEDICAL centre has 2 rooms with drips in.MANY more people had it every day we were on hliday.ROOM was not cleaned very well.NO HOOVERS USED by cleners just brush and pan.CLEANERS brushing around you when eat meals at meal times.

Overall Hotel Rating:
went to this Hotel for two weeks and it was beautiful and very big. My first thoughts were why have so many people complained about it? Then after three dreadfull days of rain and having to wear jeans my eldest daughter became very sick!! at first she seemed to have tonselitis then she got sickness and diahorrea which lasted a week!! the weather was dreadfull for july! and sunnybeach was full of prostitutes and night clubs which was not acceptable for young children to have to see!! Hotel staff were ignorant and this hotel was a complete disaster. I would not recommend this holiday to anyone it was cold and everyone was ill!

Just returned and we all had a fantastic time. I was a bit apprehensive after reading reviews but they were totally unfounded. Hotel is beautful, very clean. Food is lovely, although a few in our party werent fussed. Most staff were friendly but a few could of done with happy pills! plenty of snacks and drinks througout the day and queues werent bad considering the size of hotel. Complex is very big with pleanty of bars and and on site water park.
I would definately recommend this hotel.

We like all of you read the reviews and was very apprehensive - but I have got to say those who complained must be proffesionals at it and was doing it for insurance claims, cause honestly we had nothing and I mean nothing to complain about.
The hotel was lovely and clean. The food was beautiful, and the choice was vast. To add to that there was a waterpark on the complex which was fantastic for us but even better for our boy.
When we got home I asked him where he fancied going next year and he said if I can go anywhere in the world I would choose where we have just been. So that is what we have done booked to go back next year.
There is so much choice of where you want to eat and drink and the entertainment is good too. Another added bonus is the irish bar under the hotel is open till 2am.
We went into sunny beach once but the was fab too and so cheap. Don't pack your suitcases full cause the clothes are so cheap and copies very good. We found a bar that did a pint of beer for 29p and five of us had something to eat and including drinks it came to £12 you can't go wrong.
Don't be put off by the negative people, go I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time.

Decided to take a late break and was offered The Royal Park at Elenite resort near Sunny Beach, the read the reports.
What a great surprise, hoetel and resort very clean, the points raised about the number of cleaners was certainly true.
The rooms were of a decent size for four.
There was plenty of choice at all meals to suit the most choosy.
I had read comments about chipped plates, yes there were some but show me a kitchen that does not have any!
The staff were all very helpful, polite and nothing was too much of a bother.
The First Choice entertainment team were excellant providing day and evening entertainment for adults and kids alike.
My youngest enjoyed the Brits v Rest of World football games.
The swimming pool is cold but once in it a welcome respite to the sun. Lifeguard on duty and also plenty on clean beach. If I was being critical it would be facilities for the disabled were a bit crude. My eldest son is in a wheelchair and we found the ramps where available were very steep and obviously an after thought. He is unable to walk more than a few steps so Elenite village complex was unaccessible to him due too no lift or ramp access.
Overall a most enjoyable time and we would certainly go again.
