The hotel itself is very clean. The rooms are spacious, and carpeted which cuts down alot of noise from other rooms. The maid service was excellent, and we often came back to our rooms to find animals made out of towels, which my daughter loved. The hotel is right on the beach, which we enjoyed. There are plenty of sunbeds, but I think many are reserved because you cannot get pool towels after 10am, so most people got them then went off for the day, often not returning until late afternoon. We did not like the outside buffet, as it was always covered in wasps, and the birds would sit pecking at the bread. Wasps were also around the self-serve drinks. I saw many children helping themselves to beer and wine at the self-serve bar! The British are in the minority at the hotel, there were only 50 of us during the time when we were there. The entertainment staff were friendly but the evening entertainment was only on for about 1 hour and then it was just CDs, many Bulgarian. I could not get any diet drinks as they are imported and therefore not available on the all inclusive, and you could not get wine at the pool bar or the lobby bar, something of a surprise for a nation that produces wine! The hotel is just outside the resort but we caught a small bus for 1lev into the town. Overall we did enjoy the holiday, but I think we would pick somewhere with a bit more nightlife if we returned to Bulgaria.
We visited Obzor twice during our week's holiday. The town mainly consists of market-type stalls. We felt a bit on edge whilst shopping as everytime we looked at something on a stall, the stall-holder was straight to your side watching you. Some stalls sold...

Me and my partner went to the mirimar in august 2007 and we foundthe actual resort lovely!
the hotel when we stayed there had 1400 guests as to only 90 were british - the majority being german. the bar staff were very attentive but i found them to be very forward almost rude!
we went all inclusive and the food was pretty poor as every night seemed to be the same dishes, however they catered alot for the germans so if you like spicy sausage you will be fine!
although we went all inclusive we went to the town of obzor every night - bedrocks is the place to be there!we did fing though that the locals and the staff could not speak very good english!
the big downfall for me was the fact that if you wanted a sun bed around the pool we had to be putting the towels down at the LATEST 5am, so we tended to put them down after our night out at about half 12 - 1am.
the trips that thomson offer are ok, we went on one called khans tent where you go to the mountains over looking sunny beach to a stunning restaurant and have a 3 course meal and a night of caberet and acrobats - that was great we also went to the water park which was ok it was just like any water park i had been to in the past but we did find out that if you went and got a bus yourself and then paid on the door it would of been quite a bit cheaper - but with everything as cheap as it was we didn't feel the need to moan!
CHEAP - everything is so cheap 1/2 litre of local beer - zagorka worked out to 44p but remember there small shots are 50ml which is the same as a double here so i wouldn't order a large!
we found that the restaurant called the house in the town was very good for food so i would recomend that and like i said earlier bedrocks is the bar to be in!
after reading the comments on the hotel b4 we left i was worried but when i got there it was lovely - can't fault the cleanliness and the beautifull surroundings.
we will deffinatle go back but in about 2 yrears when hopefully the english have cottened onto it more.

just got back from an all inclusive week in the Riu Miramar, hotel on a whole is not bad, however, staff unfriendly, food very repetitive, and towels reserving sunbeds on a night!!! majority of guests are german and staff favour them.resort is very quiet so no good if you are looking for nightlife.beach is nice but sea is far too rough to swim.nearest town is 20 mins walk accessible by dirt track in front of hotel or along beach.
holiday was ok but won't be returning.

just got back from 2 very relaxing weeks in the miramar.
hotel is excellent for peaceful family holiday no rowdy brits like in sunny beach. hotel only opened in june we booked last minute with thomson on allocation on arrival basis. after arriving at 2am we were very impressed with check in room was lovely and clean. food was lovely need to get to restaurant early for breakfast and dinner as they stop cooking about 9.30am and 7pm. breakfast loads of choice no fresh juice though. lunch is very repetative especially in snack bar outside salad, pizza and chips every day! dinner is lovely tonnes of different salads joints of lamb, beef, turkey etc meatloaf wasnt a favourite with guests! beach is nice need to get down before 9.30 due to geramns same goes for pools whih were quite cold! daytime entertainment is bit naff catered for germans as is kids club which is ran by german reps and has no english kids in there.
evening entertainment quite good mainly done by animation team who work so hard and really try. best thing about evening entertainment is they have 2 week rota so you dont see the same thing twice during your stay. bulgarian night is one to miss its rubbish as is the live music singer on tues and fri. i have never seen a room empty so quickly! went into ozbor on bus wasn't worth it was just full of fake clothes whch everyone was wearing on plane home. beware bulgarian weather gets quite cold quite quickly. best time to go is june, july and beg of aug. we went last 2 weeks of aug weather was fab first 10 days but as we left was cold and cloudy with no sign of improving take a coat! the only faults we found with the hotel are when you get there you should be given a map so you know where everything is beach, restaurant etc feel a bit lost on 1st day, hotel is very focused towards germans especially the kids club.
would recommend this hotel and would go back again we really enjoyed it.

Hi
we have just returned from a holiday from hell at the riu Miramar at Obzor Beach Bulgaria,
the hotel really was not ready for guests but we thought we would overlook those slight problems until after 8 hours in, the storms and the floods came, oh my god what a holiday!! we were flooded you could not see any of the pools people were falling in the pools cos the whole place was under water, no help from the hotel staff, the whole beach came into the hotel and a dam broke up in the hills that also flodded us so we got it from every direction.
Thomson are playing this down they are being very difficult look out for the story in the nationals papers,
we were shipped out and then shipped back to a hotel in chaos god help any one going there now.
