Hotel looked good on arrival. We had 3 rooms, 1 was ok, but other 2 were a nightmare. 1 was very small, smelt damp and everything you touched fell off (wardrobe doors, shower and curtains when pulled closed!!!), the other was worse, we ended up with half a bed, no shower, no curtains, balcony door wouldn't open and toilet wouldn't flush. Reported all to reception but was not at all interested. The majority of the staff were the same, they were miserable and very unhelpful.
The food in the small restaurant was warm instead of hot and the choice was limited, chips every night and i mean every night!!! no other potato choice whatsoever.
Bowling was at a charge, overpriced, and no child under 10 was allowd to play.

The resort was good, excellent for beginners, although the trek from ski fitting centre to lifts was scary as it was an icy slope, not good if you have children.
Would visit the resort again maybe in a few years but definately not the Pamporovo Hotel!!!! (The Balkan rep was ok, although when i told him i had food poisoning he did ask me if i was a doctor!!!!!!!!!! as if i was making it up along with the other 50 guests that were ill too)

We stayed at the Elina Palace Apartments on a half board basis and would not recommend it for families. It is very remote and will cost you around £12 return for a taxi to the centre to get to a shop. The road into it is unbelieveably bad (even the taxi didn't want to drive in). The kitchen consists of a table and chair, an. electric kettle, a toaster, fridge and four glasses so please don't intend to cook. There is no entertainment of any kind (no billard and computer halls as advertised). For those who would like a drink the bar closed at about 8.00 p.m.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in - Overbooked, dirty, smelly, rude staff, restaurant ok but too small to accommodate numbers. Appliances in rooms either missing or not working. Manager indifferent, couldnt care less so no chance of getting problems sorted out. Treats reps with as little respect as the guests!

Pamporovo was a great ski resort and there are many lovely hotels - this just isn't one of them!

We travelled with Balkan holidays flying from Newcastle to Plovdiv via Manchester on the 12th March,Although the plane appeared to be old and a bit basic the flight was ok.We arrived in Plovdiv to pouring down rain which, after an hour into our 2 hour transfer turned to snow.

We were stopped at the bottom of the hill, 15 minutes from the resort, by the police who would not let anyone up the hill without snow chains as the roads were almost impassible with snow.THREE hours later and still at the bottom of the hill we were settling in for a night on the bus when all of a sudden some snow chains appeared and we were allowed to continue to our resort. We arrived at our hotel at 1.30pm to find there was a power cut so we had to be checked in by candlelight.(by this point we thought we had been sent on holidays from hell)

The rooms in the hotel were nice and there was a lounge bar,Irish bar and a bowling bar so you didn't have to go far on a night, the restuarant was buffet style breakfast and dinner with plenty of choice and there was also an a la carte restuarant.

We missed our first day of ski as there had been 3 days of snow before we arrived and the buses weren't able to get to the hotels to take us to the ski centre,so we just had a walk round the resort and tried out the Bulgarian beer (which was good and very cheap)

We got to start our lessons the next morning with our instructor Anna who was very good,by the end of the week all in our group were doing really well.
We were lucky that we met some lovely people and it didn't turn out to be holidays from hell after all.

We would definately go back to Bulgaria to ski it is good value for money and would recommend Pamparovo and this hotel to anyone.

Never had a problem finding anything out. Sunny Beach was a very good resort, with plenty to see and do. Everything is so cheap. Meals were very good in the hotel, but we ate out a couple of nights to get something different. All is very cheap. Two wonderful weeks holiday.

Would definitely go back.

Hotel Zora is a good clean hotel.

The rooms were newly refurbished and were really large. They were cleaned everyday and to British standards! The food was fine better than expected, however after the first few nights we ate out, mainly at the Mourgavets just because it was so cheap. The bar was ok and has a pool table though you sometimes had to wait to be served. The hotel has a pool planned for next season but not sure where there would be room for it.

Pamporovo is fairly small but quite spead out. Its quite strange as there is not a resort center. not sure how self catering would get on as didn't see any supermarkets.

Don't bother with the shopping trip to Smolyn as the shops are better in the resort linking the Mourgavets and Perelik hotels and also got the feeling they didn't like tourists there.

Balkan were good and the flight which was on their own airline was fine.
This was our first time skiing and would highly recomend the resort for beginners and intermediates. Definatly buy your ski packs in england!

This was one of the best holidays I have ever had and am already planning to go back next year.

This was our first time skiing and Bulgaria was the cheapest resort, was not expecting much - however was plesently surprised. Were on an allocation on arrival and ended up with the Hotel Zora. This is a nice hotel, the rooms were really big! the beds were comfortable and the bathroom seemed new. The hotels bar has a lovely view out on to the pine trees. Food was fine - all well cooked and eddible, nothing fancy. We did eat out several times - the Ala Carte restaurant at The Pamporovo hotel was excelent and very reasonable- £12 for both of us inc wine!

The Ski tuition which we pre-booked (well worth is - it's very expensive locally)was brilliant - we had never skied before and by the end of the week we were doing jumps and went on the black run called the wall and several other red runs.

Pamporovo has no center to it which is a little strange - however the Murgavets and Perelik has everything you need between them including a selection of Shops.

one word of advise the shopping trip to Smolyan is so not worth it. The locals look at you like you shouldn't be there and the shops are better at the Murgavets and Perelik!

I'm planning on going back next year!

The hotel itself was very good, with 4 bars to choose from and a club. The best bar was the sports bar which had 3 very modern bowling lanes which was 10 levs per person (1 lev = approx 40p). The food was quite basic with not much variety of hot food and a salad bar. However, the a la carte restaurant was very good and quite cheap. The rooms were somewhat shabby and in desperate need of repair and re-decoration but were comfortable and kept very clean.

The swimming pool was very nice along with sauna and were free to use for Thomson customers.

The actual ski centre was lovely and was about a 10 minute coach ride away. As we had never been skiing before we found our ski instructor very helpful and patient. We were also filmed at different stages of the holiday so it was nice to look back to see how well we had progressed. There were plently of places to eat and drink here including places up in the mountains and again prices here were very reasonable.

I had changed my money up in the UK but found that the actual ski centre offered a better rate of exchange.

All in all we had a very good time and would recommend the hotel and resort.
