Entertainment all in German what there was of it.
Would not go back if it was free.

We were all inclusive but did eat out a few times where we found the food moderate at best, everything very inexpensive but that is not everything.

This was out first time to Bulgaria. Originally we were booked to stay at the Rousalka but when we got to the airport in Varna our hotel wasn't even on their list! Apparently the hotel was being refurbished. We found out that we had been upgraded to the hotel rubin which was all inclusive. (we booked bed and breakfast) We were pleased at hearing this as it was a four star hotel and was right on the beach.

The cleanliness and the furnishings of the hotel cannot be faulted HOWEVER it seems the hotel is exclusively ALL INCLUSIVE and everybody on all inclusive wears a yellow band. Because we were not all inclusive we were treated like dirt. The staff were very uncooperative, cold and unwelcoming and seemed to totally ignore the very, VERY few English that were there. They all stared at you like you were something that had crawled out of the sewers All because we weren't all inclusive (we only met 2 other English couples who had, like us, been upgraded from the Rousalka.) they were treated in exactly the same way as us. I can honestly say that i have never been treated so badly on a holiday in my life. This was also the opinion one of the English couples who had been to Bulgaria 8 times and they said they had never ever been treated the way they were in the rubin.

The staff in the hotel spoke virtually no English, so little infect that they did not understand the words ";Balkan rep!"; Funnily enough though the woman behind the bar was quick enough to say ";you must pay"; before we had even ordered our drinks!!. The hotel was full of Germans and seemed to cater just for them. There was a crèche with No English board games or toys in. There were posters for animation and things for children to do and various shows that were on, NONE were in English. The people in this hotel don't seem to realise that it's not only the English who speak English. there are many other countries with English as their second language.

The resort of saint konstantine is lovely. There is a large hotel called the Varna where we went to use the bar if we didn't want to walk to the market as the staff in our hotel were so unwelcoming. We were treated like human beings there and the staff were very polite and helpful and could speak very good English.

The resort had a nice market with lovely little market stalls where you can pick up some great bargains. The people too are very nice and most can speak better English than those at the hotel. Eating out is cheap and the food excellent (this is why we booked bed and breakfast) If you go out to eat i STRONGLY recommend 'figaros"; the food is lovely, along with the staff. we ate the most nights. It's adorned with British flags and various football scarfs. I really enjoyed eating there and it was sad to leave behind.

There is also a great cocktail bar just past the varna at the beginning of the market. The staff there are lovely and the drinks are good but BEWARE you can run up a big bill without realising it.
But food, drink and shopping elsewhere in the resort are AMAZINGLY cheap.
I Loved Bulgaria and I would love to go back to the resort but i would NEVER stay in the rubin again. I just cannot get over how we were treated there.
so if the same happens to you i strongly suggest that you do all you can to avoid being moved there.
