on reading 2006 reviews we thought this accommadation was good.how wrong we were.
apartments approx 20 min walk to action.
arrived early hours am .young lad gave us key ,pointed upstairs, no smile or greeting,miserable teenager with attitude.

found room ok. we booked a studio which was very small.tried to upgrade to 1 bed but no rooms left.moved all furniture onto balcony to get more room.pool very nice but never seem to be cleaned.area around pool cleaned and every morning about 10.00am.linen chage only 3 times during our stay after complaning to the manager.
young dark haired lady on reception very unhelpful,only knows the words no and tomorrow.found the people in bulgaria very miserable and dont have a smile .

drinks very cheap around pool bar 2.5 lev per pint,out side pool bar 1.0 lev per pint.lots of building work going on around apartments noisy in mornings up till about 11.00am.didnt bother us to much.
probably wont return to bulgaria for about 5 years.
on a good note we found an execellent restaraunt called bistro djannys, oppisite the kuban hotel ,across main road , 100mtrs on the left.half the price of other restaurants.

I would recommend Sunny Beach resort to families who aren't going on holiday for a quiet break. as it is a loud and busy resort and many things going on all the time.

If you are flying with Balkan, don't expect anything fancy as it is a basic airline with basic planes - no TV's, basic meal - cold, uncomfortable seats, small plane, bumpy ride. but it gets you there. That's the main thing!

When we first got to Summer Dreams Apartments, we thought it was going to be a holiday from hell - we were put in 2 small studios between 2 families (we paid for 2 x 1 bedroom apartments), the receptionist couldn't speak English so we couldn't communicate with him and all sun beds were taken at midnight because everyone left their towels on them 24/7! It stayed like this the whole holiday! The studios were 1 room + a bathroom and in ours, we had to have 2 teenage boys sleep in the same bed and in the same room as the parents. The next day the rep was trying to be helpful but couldn't do anything because the Balkan head office in England was closed! How stupid! In the end we had pay something like £200 to upgrade to an apartment even though we already paid. From the 2nd day of our holiday, our hotel was great. Our rooms were cleaned every 3 days, fantastic pool with pool bar and a separate children's pool, finally got sun beds and the staff in the restaurant were really friendly. The only negative was to get to the main resort; we had to cross a very busy road. The rooms were nice, clean and spacious!

I have never been to such a huge holiday resort!! It is massive. Took about an hour to walk from our end to the other end and that wasn't all of it because we wasn't at the very end and we didn't walk to the very end of the other end. hope that makes sense to you. It took 2 trains to get to Rafaelo's (very poor restaurant) from our end. Only went to that end once as it was nothing special. Every night there is loads to do - was never bored, plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Negatives of the holiday:
- Broken pavements. Someone on holiday with us fell over and grazed all of their legs and arms - government needs to sort them out!
- Waiters and fruit sellers always in your face.
- Thunderstorms first few nights we were there.
- Can be quite cold at night.
- Swedish people were loud in our hotel (hoovering at 4 in the morning and always drunk and messing around in the room next to us. Found broken bottles on our balcony in the morning)
- Few bad meals - gave upset stomachs / diahreah
- Loads of mossies. Mainly at night - got bit loads
- Main road we had to cross with children

Positives of the holiday:
- Most Bulgarians are friendly and have great sense of humour
- Foreigners (Germans, most Swedish, Norwegian, Scandinavian) were fine - no trouble
- Usually great food - recommended restaurants at the bottom of report
- Loads of shops
- Great hotel
- Fantastic beaches
- Cheap alcohol/ food
- Loads to do in the resort
- Weather - fantastic
- Great beach - loads of sports to do and choice of where you get sunbeds - great waterpark on the beach which kids can go in pool for free and 15 lev a day for unlimited use of slides or 1 lev per slide each go.

Recommended Restaurants. My Personal Top 5:
- 1. China House (not China Town which is located near it - DO NOT get mixed up)
- 2. Jupiter (Near main centre - Globus and Kuban) Very good food
- 3. Juzhni Noshti - really good entertainment (free show that lasts all night)
- 4. Fat Cat (Steak and Curry House) very good food and music
- 5. Forest Hut (Near hotel Meridian) - Also very good food and music

If you are after Blackpool with sun and fake designer gear this resort will be perfect for you.

Summer Dreams Apartments are only 12 months old and are very well kept. The pool is fairly cold but clean, there are plenty of loungers and the pool bar is excellently stocked. We raised a couple of minor issues with our 1 bedroomed apartment (only one chair on the balcony, hall lights not working etc.) all were dealt with immediately and pleasantly.
The apartments are about 10 minutes walk from the beach across a fairly main road, but no worse than crossing a main road here, you run the gauntlet with the touts trying to get you into the bars and restaurants. None were offensive but it gets very annoying.

The food generally was good, one meal we ordered 'a chef's special' was nothing like the picture shown (lots of the menus have pictures, which may help), when we pointed this out we were told it was just a representation!! It was taken back and embellished, but very grudgingly. Try the Kavarma it is delicious. Shopska salad is also very nice. The Juzhni Noshti Show-Restaurant (just next door) was well worth a visit with a full nights entertainment for all ages, and great food.

There are lots of new buildings being put up, but they can't work on them during the season, got to be a plus point.

We were disappointed with Nessebar as the fronts of all the traditional houses are used as shops. But we found Sozopol to be more traditional.

We would not go back to Sunny Beach, or probably Bulgaria, but the apartments were EXCELLENT, I would have no hesitation in recommending Summer Dreams, but please make up your own mind about the resort.

This resort has a lively and good beach with lots of water sports. There are lots of places to eat and the food is very cheap. The resort is suited to young people and there are lots of bars, music shops etc. catering to their needs - our kids enjoyed it but we probably would have preferred somewhere with a less 18-30s type atmosphere.If you go make sure you visit Nessebaur. you can catch a bus from outside the aptms. also the gypsy camp next door is fantastic- the food and show was excellent.

Unfortunately we were not impressed with the aptms. The rooms were clean but the pool never seemed to be cleaned and my son and husband together with another 11 holidaymakers all suffered ear infections. There also was a lack of sun loungers and people left towels on the loungers overnight and sometimes all day without ever being challenged by the staff. In fact the reception area seemed to be manned by very young and untrained student types who didn't have the expertise to manage the grounds and pool area e.g we often saw people using glass in and by the pool. If you like such a carefree attitude towards safety then this place is fine but not at all suitable for young kids!The meadow around the appts is misleading as most of it is waste ground where the public walk dogs and fly tip rubbish. There is also a lot of building work going on.

If you go stay in appts, but don't choose Summer Dreams,especially if you have kids who like to use the pool. These appts would suit 18-30s who would probably not be there much. Also bring loo paper as it seemed to be in short supply here!

we were a party of 6 74-16
were booked for sea dreams but they put us in summer dreams as they had over booked we had a look at sea dreams and they are not finished we met other people that went there and demanded to be moved as it was a building site no bar or restaurent there.they are not sending any more people there until its finished.

summer dreams is on a very dangerous maain road ,nightmare to cross. cars speed if they see you put a foot on the road . no public phones on site and no taxi rank there at summer dreams.
be prepared for a long wait at the airport when you arrive in bulgaria and when you leave,it took us 3 hours to fly there and 4 hours to get out of airport to get to bus (crazy)

apartments were ok except for leaking taps tried for 2 weeks to get someone to fix it but no one did
be careful in bathroom floor is lethal when wet had to put towels on the floor
sunny beach is lovely but food most places is crap look inside the chicken as its always a pink colour
the four towers on beach front is lovely place to eat decent food and chinese place called shang hai was excellent.
