"HOTEL GLOBUS"

Open quote

Just returned from a week at the Globus hotel, 30th may 2010 and am getting this down while it’s still clear in my mind. My wife and I did stay at this hotel in 2006 and liked it so much that we came back, we found the hotel more or less the same, the food while not the best we have ever had, a lot needs to be done there, the breakfast very repetitive as was the evening meal but after saying that there was always quite a lot to choose from but not quite to the English taste but when we were there the majority of the guests were German, unlike In 2006 when the majority were Brits, the tables are kept scrupulously clean, as soon as the plate or cup is finished with, it’s took straight away, the staff are politeness its self, the maid comes in every day, and while not as efficient as in some hotels we’ve stayed in, my wife had to make the beds every day, still not bad. All the rooms and the passage ways are carpeted and this makes it very quite in the hotel at nights, the last time we were at this hotel we were on the street side on the third floor and we heard no noise or sound for the whole week, this time we were on the pool side of the hotel on the seventh floor and there was quite a lot of noise from the bars along the strip and sometimes, not often! This went on until one or two in the morning. The resort its self is very cheap to go out and eat and drink you can pay from about 45p to 85p for pint of lager and all cocktails around one pound each, all the bars are two for the price of one, at no time did my wife and I go out and pay more then £10 to £12. for the night. We flew out of Humberside airport with Balkan holidays as we did the last time in 2006 and on that occasion we had two very pleasant flights, in fact on landing at Humberside we had to circle around for about fifteen minutes because of thick fog and when we did eventually land we couldn’t see the runway till we hit it, a prefect landing by a very good pilot and I guess the automatic landing gear. Not this time, on the flight going out the rows of seats on the airbus 300 were closer together then I’ve come across in my previous 126 flights over the years, plus my seat and the one in front of me wouldn’t stay in the upright position and I can guess there must have been quite a lot more that did the same, the air steward that was giving us instructions over the speaker spoke English so bad that no one could understand her, in all my days of flying the outward and return flights were the bumpiest I’ve ever come across, but I’m sure this is no reflection on the pilots. I’m sure the airport at Bourgas was the same in 2006, but I don’t remember it being so haphazardly run then it seemed to be this time, but maybe I’m wrong. The exchange rate was 2.25lv to the £1, plus you will always get the best from exchanges called the crown, there are a lot of them almost on every street as are all the others that were advertising the same or more, but we heard that when they got it, it was a lot less, there’s also a crown exchange in the foyer of the Globus. See also my report for this hotel on this web page from 2006.

Could not ask for a better hotel , rooms lovely and cleaned every single day. Downfall being the restuarant, we went half board and it was absolute chaos every morning and evening. Hard to find a table which was clean when free, people running round like headless chickens including holiday makers and staff. Not enough food for everyone running out all of the time and taking ages to fill up when it had all gone. They need to take a lesson from the Spainish and get everything organised. Location of hotel excellent, near to everything. Was a bit noisy to begin with but got used to it in the end.

Just arrived home from our first holiday in Bulgaria! It won't happen again. Balkan Holidays rate this hotel 4.5 star what a joke it wouldn't see 4 stars on a starry night The restaurant was more like a works canteen and the food would be at home in a greasy spoon along a "B" road. The staff in both the restaurant and reception were miserable and non communicative, I didn't see a smile all week. However the hotel was kept clean and has good liesure facilities i.e. olympic size indoor pool, tenpin bowling and gym etc.. Unfortuneately due sleepless nights with the noise I was too tired to use them. Wish I'd read the reviews before booking but it was supposed to be an emergency tonic holiday. There was a good side to it all, it was only for 7 days! I would suggest the management and staff training take place in the Canary islands to see how 4/5 star hotels should be run.

Just got back from Sunny beach had a lovely time , but the hotel is a down shame. its defenetly not 4 star more like a 3. The hotel size and location is Fantastic but the food is apsolutely Awful. the bannanas at breaky were black and saw 4 beatles on the cakes. if you have children and get bored easily during the day , find a diffrent hotel as theres no entertainment around the pool at all. Appart from the food the hotel was average.

just returned from globus 22-08-09.we were in the block of rooms overlooking the beach bar mania, not the pool ,the noise from thebeach bar would finish at around midnight and the next bar amigos the noise as you couldnt call it music would go on until 4am-5am every night.as if this wasnt enough fridays were even worse as the weekend started beach bar mania would start up at around 8am on sat , nobody in the bar as they hadnt long left amigos.the globus has a large indoor pool and sun terrace which we were forced to use as you couldnt get a sun bed after 8am as they were all reserved with towels.the pool attendant did nothing about it even though a number of notices forbid this.up at the indoor pool from 9.30-12.30 the pool was out of use as a group of 30 swimmers trained there every day and returned at 4pm to use the sun terrace for aerobics.we were b+b thank god as the food was unedible guests who were half or full board were outraged.our room was ok and kept clean by a maid who was very friendly and helpfull most other members of staff were 16 year olds who didnt have a clue what they were doing.the globus appears to be a really good hotel but when youve stayed there you realise it is more 2 star than the 4star it is described as in the brochure.entertainment is karaoke every night in the pool bar you can play bingo for 10 lev for 1 book of tickets thats 5pounds to us brits, the prize for a line is a bottle of plonk and the house prizes start at 20 lev thats10 pounds.

stayed at the hotel in june big family, of good eaters, not one of us eat anything but boiled egg and toast,my father who at 83 has been to all sorts of reseraunts and by the way would eat a dog fried in batter, would not even touch the food,a salad bar which consisted of lettuce leaves and grated carrot, there was not sufficient food for the whole hotel, not even water to drink with eveningmeal, one night there was a strange black substance no one knew what it was, but when i smelt it it was burnt liver, never in all my years of travelling have i seen such appalling food, shame really cos the hotel is good perfect position for shopping and nightlife, the staff all young kids are running the hotel without supervision,i have since complained to balkan and they say they are surprised no one else has not complained and the food is up to standard, rubbish, anyway allof us enjoyed eating out plenty of choice and good nightlife.

I just returned from this hotel with my partner staying one wk BnB . Thank god for that when we did make it down for breakfast once it was once too often the food looked awful and all i managed to pick to eat was 3 slices of apple, a pity really as the room was of good size ,good clean bathroom and the linen was changed everay day ! We had a room at the front of hotel which was better as we had the eve sun on balcony at the sea view side the sun was lost about 5 oclock ,which also meant the sun was lost on the pool at same time . Hotel was big had olympic size indoor pool , bowling , table tennis, pool , full size snooker table and a gym which got it its 4 star rating . Location was real close to nightlife so dont expect many early nights , staff were ok and beach was a stone throw away ! overall a good hotel but only book room if possible dont consider the food options !!1

Have just returned from the Globus which is a good hotel but i must say that the service and the food in the restaurant i would not even give a 2 star rating. The only food you could say was really ok was ham and cheese of a morning and the soup of a evening. There is a toaster of a morning which takes ages to toast the bread and because its so slow there is normally a queue, forget english sausage you have no chance, as for other reviews saying there is a microwave to warm the food there is not so there for the food is not hot.Therfore i do not recommend this hotel on half board if you can get self catering this would be the best bet. this hotel was in a perfect location to get to the beach it takes literally 15 seconds. the pool was a decent size but could have been bigger considering the size of the hotel. this isnt really a problem in sunny beach tho as it is ok to use the other hotels pools just buy a drink at the bar if you feel a bit cheeky. the food served round the pool was basic but did the job for just a snack. the room was cleaned daily and unlike other hotels the mini bar was stocked with food and drinks that you dont need a second mortgage to buy. the hotel has a bar that i carnt remeember ever shutting so could well have been 24hours but it never really got that busy where it would cause a problem for people wanting an early nite.

After reading the reviews on Globus Hotel was dreading going there however not as bad as made out. The food is not very good but seems to be the same in most of the other hotels even the 5 stars. The noise at night is quite annoying and you could do with ear plugs if you go to bed before 3am! Rooms cleaned every day with fresh towels and linen changes at least 4 times in 2 weeks. They should do something about towels being left on loungers when no-one there as it can be hard to find one that is not broken. All in all for what we paid for 2 weeks it was pretty good value. If you go out to eat we would recommend Djanny's - fabulous food and very friendly staff. .

Room cleaned every day. Booked b & b thank goodness. Breakfast very samey. Need a new toaster. Public areas very clean although toilets could do with cleaning more regularly in lobby area. Problem with sun beds around pool area people getting up at 0630 to put towels out! Very noisy area prostitutes and pick pockets working opposite the hotel on beach side very late at night. Plenty of restaurants and bars. Hotel staff could do with some happy pills!

We have just returned from Hotel Globus which is an excellent hotel. The location is fantastic situated right on the beach and central for commuting. The view from the 7th floor overlooking the sea was great and the cleaner was excellent - very friendly - beds changed at least four times and clean towels every day. The hotel was spotlessly cleaned but the only really poor let down was the food in the restaurant (more like a transport cafe but even that's an insult). The variation was very poor and what was there as an option was the cheapest of the cheap - all bone, grissle and fat - very little meat. Breakfast was a joke but after a complaint we did have bacon 1 morning! All the food was cold so it was a good job there was a microwave provided. One micorwave and one toaster for around 500 people was a disaster especially in the mornings. This was very disappointing as we paid for half board but had the extra expense of eating out as some evenings the food looked inedible more like pigs swill. The restaurant staff were always helpful and cheerful but the restaurant manageress was ignorant, rude and very abrupt. The bar staff were excellent especially Vlad and Christo in lobby bar 3, they made us most welcome and always had a laugh and fun. The reception staff were very helpful apart from one - there is always one and if you have the pleasure of meeting her (the one with black framed glasses)try to avoid unless you want your head bitten off! - really rude and abrupt. The pool was very clean but unfortunatley not enough sun beds to cater for everyone because most of what was there were broken and the pads for the beds, well, you wouldn't let your pet sleep on them. Wacky Wayne-born on 26th November 1981 - you'll soon find out! was excellent - always had time for a chat and a smile and very helpful with local information. If you are thinking of booking this hotel please be advised to go either self catering if you can or b&b because the half board is a total waste of money.
