"great value, service & location!"
Overall Resort Rating:
Probably the best hotel in Edmonton for the price range. Super modern with comfortable rooms and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's in a really good location downtown with free parking as well. Definitely recommended!

Pastoral beauty abounds at Edmonton's own historic horse farm preserved in city parkland along the Trans Canada Trail. It features Captain Keillor's 1917 log cabin with a two-storey fireplace, curving stone fencesand stately trees. The Learning Centre provides riding lessons, horsemanship camps, Little Bits Therapeutic Riding, NAIT student training, horse shows, tours, gardening, community events and fund raising involving hundreds of volunteers. A non-profit association staffs the facility, owns the school horses, riding tack, farm machinery, office equipment, etc. Trails around the farm are heavily used all year. Public events are advertised. The cabin and showgrounds may be rented.

There is nothing that even comes close to the casual atmosphere and exciting nightlife of Whyte Ave. Calgary is a sleepy town compared to the fun of Whyte Ave. Much of Whyte Avenue's entertainment can be attributed to the nearby university which complements its many poetry cafes and coffee bistros not to mention organic markets and quaint boutiques. You will find many of the common chain stores and restaurants along this stretch as well, such as Lululemon, Chili's and Starbucks.
Whyte Avenue is best known as the home of the world-renowned Edmonton Fringe Festival, an arts extravaganza which is hosted yearly here.
Whyte Avenue is THE spot to be in Edmonton and is just as popular with the locals as it is with the tourists and is worth checking out.

"Edmonton"
Overall Resort Rating:
Edmonton was a bit of a let down. It is off the tourist trail and there is a reason. It is just a large city, similar to any other with nothing particularly special about it. The Edmonton mall is quite impressive in its scale, but it is nothing more than a large version of the trafford centre and there is only so much you can do there! The fort is the only other site of note nearby and 1/2 day can be passed quite happily there, but that is about it. Plenty of offices, traffic and star bucks but that's about it. OK to pass through as a stop over but woudn't spend more than a couple of nights here at the most.
