We flew from Newcastle to Toronto with Air Transat - no problems there, although the in-flight food was poor.
Toronto is a fantastic city, loads to do and enough bars and restaurants even for us. Try the Keg on Church and Fionn McCools on the Esplanade....

The Quality Hotel Downtown was not good. OK, they're having some renovation work done but that's no excuse for unfriendly, unhelpful staff and indifferent service. There is no restaurant, bar or room service facilities in the hotel, although it boasts a comprehensive buffet style breakfast on its website. Currently they give you a bag with a stale bagel and a muffin and a carton of fruit juice. Very poor. The rooms were quite clean but serviced infrequently, and not to a high standard.
If you plan on a trip to Toronto you could do much better than the Qualty Hotel Downtown.
