We mainly stayed in and around the hotel, but the area looked lovely and the beach was really beautiful. Lovely colour sea, and the people are really friendly. We would love to go back.

We really enjoyed Antigua!!! The beaches were fantastic and it was a nice area, very interesting. The tropical fruits and fish dishes must be tried! Long flight but we still came back tanned and refreshed.

St James beach is amazing, really white sand and the sea is a light blue, looks brilliant in our snaps! It is a really relaxed sort of place, definately for couples! Look forward to hopefully returning next year

We didn't really leave the hotel, and didn't need to as they had everything! The beach is very nice though, beautiful blue sea!

Lovely long beach for walking, gets quite a lot of seaweed. Super sunsets. Overpriced jet skis. Nice restaurant at the end of the beach but not cheap. Majority of people are on all inclusive. Beach is not safe for young children as there is quite a steep drop.

The beach at Dickenson Bay is beautiful, pure white sand and clear blue/green sea, gorgeous!! The resort is not far from the capital but is a little isolated from nightlife and variety of restaurants, however it is very popular with honeymooners!

St James review
"The ideal place to relax"
resort to a friend
The resort is an ideal place to soak up the sun, or to try kayaking or hobbicats in the calm bay. Unfortunatley we didn't snorkle too much on the Atlantic side due to the large numbers of jellyfish around at the time. The beaches are nothing less than perfect - hot on the Atlantic side with a slightly cooler breeze in the bay. Any washed up seaweed is cleared by about 7am and when we visited (September) there were plenty of loungers and shady areas.
The majority of the guests here are all-inclusive, and everything is included, even champagne, much to my partners delight. You'll very quickly get to meet Albert, a very pleasant chap who drives a golf buggy with a mobile bar around the beaches all day.
The resort is fairly remote on the island, which gives it some of its appeal to us, but Nelsons Dockyard and Shirley Heights are no more than a 15 min taxi ride away. I'm not sure about eating outside the resort - we didn't as the food was so good.
In keeping with the rest of Antigua, it seems, St James is not mad on the nightlife. There's entertainment every evening but if you're looking for discos till 2am this isn't the resort for you.

The only good thing about the holiday was the beach and the sea, that is it! the nearest town wasnt very near or nice. There was nothing to do outside the complex niether so you were basically trapped in the hellhole.

"Dickenson Bay"
Overall Destination Rating:
Best beach i have ever seen, only problem it isn't private, so you get the locals constantly pestering you. Everything is free so i definately made the most of it. A few hidden extras like scuba diving and the spa understandably.

There are two beaches. A nice quite beach in the bay which has 2 beach bars, a golf cart with beverages, and a BBQ grill for a quick bite. This is where you do all the kayaking, sail boating, windsurfing, etc. It was a beautiful quiet little bay.

There are 2 beaches one is a lovely quite sandy cove and the other is a rather windy but lovely sandly cove. Golf buggy regularly keeps you topped up with rum punches.
Weather was pretty good whilst we were there but it can be cloudy at times, althought I found that a welcome relief from the scorching sun.
If you get a chance... go, it's fab

Two nice bays with good beaches. A short drive to some great things to see and do especially Nelson's Dockyard (a must see), Shirley Heights, Pigeon Beach and Fig Tree Drive.

In jolly harbour itself there is very little. When we were there only 2 bars and 1 restaurant was open. You can do a trip with caribbean helicopters over to montserrat to the volcano which was fantastic, expensive at around £160 each fo 45 minutes but worth every penny.
