There are two beaches. A nice quite beach in the bay which has 2 beach bars, a golf cart with beverages, and a BBQ grill for a quick bite. This is where you do all the kayaking, sail boating, windsurfing, etc. It was a beautiful quiet little bay.

There are 2 beaches one is a lovely quite sandy cove and the other is a rather windy but lovely sandly cove. Golf buggy regularly keeps you topped up with rum punches.
Weather was pretty good whilst we were there but it can be cloudy at times, althought I found that a welcome relief from the scorching sun.
If you get a chance... go, it's fab

We mainly stayed in the hotel but did venture into St Johns occasionally. It is very good for diamond shopping.

In jolly harbour itself there is very little. When we were there only 2 bars and 1 restaurant was open. You can do a trip with caribbean helicopters over to montserrat to the volcano which was fantastic, expensive at around £160 each fo 45 minutes but worth every penny.

Overall Destination Rating:
You can go on excursions to Rodney Bay which is about 40 - 50 mins away and see the old Nelson's Dockyard. You can also visit all the local markets to find gifts.

Antigua was fabulous. Something for everyone, whatever you like to do. I was lucky enough to see various hotels and look at wedding locations throughout Antigua. With 365 beaches, 1 for each day of the year you will be spoiled for choice. There are hotels from 3* upto 5* and whichever you choose you will not be disapointed. The blue waters and the Galley Bay are the most impressive of hotels with excellent wedding locations and then you have the great 3* hotel, Jolly Beach which is great for larger parties that would like more going on. Whichever hotel you choose you will have a fantastic time. Food is excellent, local people are fabulous, book it as soon as you can!

"Beautiful Island"
Overall Destination Rating:
I can't really say an awful lot about the resort as we staying at the hotel most of the time, I never experienced, food, drink or nightlife outside of the hotel so please don't go on my scores for those. We did take a boat trip to Bird Island which was quite remote and good for snorkeling. We also visited St John's which was great for duty free shopping, not an awful lot of shops but all your usual like clothes, jewellery, souvenirs, booze, cigarettes, toiletries etc.

St James review
"Quiet, relaxing, enjoyable"
resort to a friend
The whole island is of a different pace to the other caribbean islands we have visited. Antigua is a very quiet island with little to do, there are a few places to visit. Nelson's Dockyard is worth a visit as is Shirley Heights on a Sunday night for a great party, music and dancing. We hired a car and drove around the island quite a bit but there is little going on so tended to stay in the hotel a lot as we were all inclusive. The town is worth a visit for a few hours but the shops aren't great, we didn't buy anything. For us it was a nice end to our honeymoon, we went to Barbados to get married, to St Lucia for a week and then onto Antigua for a week so it was nice to wind down on this island but we wouldn't go here for a 2 week holiday as there is little to do.

Dickenson bay is great the beach is fantastic and the sea so clear and warm. There are a few hotels but these are all inclusive so at night entertainment centres on these. We did 2 trips whilst there. One was an escorted island tour which was very good the other was to St Johns to do some shoping this was also good.

Jolly Beach review
"Antigua, Jolly Beach - wonderful"
resort to a friend
Antigua and Anguilla are fabulous islands, Antigua has many beautiful beaches and a good selection of 3-4 star hotels, where as Anguilla the scenery just takes your breath away, luxury resort hotels along the whitest sandy beaches I have ever seen.
