We loved Antigua and were very sad to have to leave. The beach is lovely, great white sand. Glorious weather, we got a bit of rain to cool us off each afternoon.

The resort as a whole was fantastic. Its ideally situated to take full advantage of the carribean beaches. There is plenty of watersports activities and the Catermeran is a MUST!!

Hawksbill Bay review
"Beautiful Hawksbill"
resort to a friend
Beautiful resort beaches and sunsets. No night life outside the hotel, but that suited us just fine.
If you want a resort where you can travel out in the evenings, this isn't for you. But if you are happy to stay in the hotel and enjoy the entertainment and food laid on for you, definately recommended.
Great walks to be taken around the headland .

Antigua was a great resort, lovely white sand and clear blue sea, so relaxing!!!!!! Most of the time was spent around the hotel though, which was fantastic.

St. Johns is the capital of Antigua and so is a busy port, great to see the massive cruise ships, lots of shopping, loads of places to eat and there is never a superb beach far away. The cost of food and drink is the average although if you want a good buy, stop off at a small places off the main areas. There is a lot of things to see and do in Antigua and you are never far from something to do, some of the trips can be expensive so make sure that you shop around.

Carlisle Bay Resort review
"Resort Review"

The people are extremely friendly and helpful. There are a few good beach bars that offer sunbeds, parasols and a free rum punch!! Most of them offer the use of toilet/shower facilities. The Hilton Hotel is on the end of the beach - very beautiful!! Foodwise I would suggest being adventurous and eating from the local "kitchens" just off the beach front. Very cheap and very tasty very very clean establishments - no need to worry about hygiene and cleanliness - it's evident!! Have to say even though we knew about Carlisle Bay from Bajan friends - it was even more beautiful and relaxing than I thought it would be. Has to be the best "day out" we've ever had - even better than driving up the pitons in St Lucia!!!

We mainly stayed in and around the hotel, but the area looked lovely and the beach was really beautiful. Lovely colour sea, and the people are really friendly. We would love to go back.

We really enjoyed Antigua!!! The beaches were fantastic and it was a nice area, very interesting. The tropical fruits and fish dishes must be tried! Long flight but we still came back tanned and refreshed.

"Dickenson Bay"
Overall Destination Rating:
Best beach i have ever seen, only problem it isn't private, so you get the locals constantly pestering you. Everything is free so i definately made the most of it. A few hidden extras like scuba diving and the spa understandably.

St James review
"The ideal place to relax"
resort to a friend
The resort is an ideal place to soak up the sun, or to try kayaking or hobbicats in the calm bay. Unfortunatley we didn't snorkle too much on the Atlantic side due to the large numbers of jellyfish around at the time. The beaches are nothing less than perfect - hot on the Atlantic side with a slightly cooler breeze in the bay. Any washed up seaweed is cleared by about 7am and when we visited (September) there were plenty of loungers and shady areas.
The majority of the guests here are all-inclusive, and everything is included, even champagne, much to my partners delight. You'll very quickly get to meet Albert, a very pleasant chap who drives a golf buggy with a mobile bar around the beaches all day.
The resort is fairly remote on the island, which gives it some of its appeal to us, but Nelsons Dockyard and Shirley Heights are no more than a 15 min taxi ride away. I'm not sure about eating outside the resort - we didn't as the food was so good.
In keeping with the rest of Antigua, it seems, St James is not mad on the nightlife. There's entertainment every evening but if you're looking for discos till 2am this isn't the resort for you.

Lovely long beach for walking, gets quite a lot of seaweed. Super sunsets. Overpriced jet skis. Nice restaurant at the end of the beach but not cheap. Majority of people are on all inclusive. Beach is not safe for young children as there is quite a steep drop.

The beach at Dickenson Bay is beautiful, pure white sand and clear blue/green sea, gorgeous!! The resort is not far from the capital but is a little isolated from nightlife and variety of restaurants, however it is very popular with honeymooners!
