Open quote

The first time we went to Barbados was 2002 and we loved it so much we went back.

The first year we stayed at St Lawerence but the hotel was booked so we ended up staying up the road in Hastings. It is alot better because your out of the noise from the gap but that really didn't matter to us as we were a bit younger and didn't mind, but it was very pleasurable staying at Hastings as St Lawrence is only 5 mins away on a Number 11 bus (What an brilliant experience we used them all the time.)

The Allamanda is very clean and small appartments which is nice as the pool is not crowded. The Staff are lovely (but the owner is ignorant but you don't see alot of him.) Its not exactly on the beach although its a sea fronted hotel but if you walk to the end of the decking and walk down the steps you can walk in the sea 2 mins to get to the main beach (which is lovely.) There's alot of waves on the south coast so go very careful swimming if your looking for flat water go to the west coast (STUNNING.)

The meals in the Allamanda are lovely but quite a basic menu but you are quite safe to wander out of the hotel and see whats about. There are alot of places to eat which are all very very nice. I can really recommend Opa which is next door to The Allamanda. It is a greek restaurant with brilliant owners (John and Vaso) and the staff are fab aswell, lovely food. After you eat you get to smash plates (well funny as we ended up playing frizby one night !!) Next to to Opa is another Restaurant called Bistro Monet (Yum Yum), you MUST go in there!! Get a car and travel up the east and north coast very pretty but go careful its not well sign posted but that's more fun ! The Cat is excellent, you get to go snorkelling with the turtles and see a ship wreck and all different fish its lovely. The locals are really nice people they may try and get you to buy things off them like dope, Aloe Vera, etc but politely say no and they'll leave you alone.

All in all a brilliant holiday, you will be very unlucky to have a disappointing holiday on this Island. I love the place and will definately be going back again
