"Coconut Court Beach Resort review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The trip to Barbados was booked through BMI and Hotelopia The Flight was excellent with excellent service and comfort. The arrival at Grantly Adams was a little frustrating as 3 flights in at once so took over an hour to get through passport control, our hire car was available with good service from EASY CAR.
The coconut court was a little dissapointing as it could do with a full makeover a little tired the room was large but the bathroom was small and had a fixed shower, no bath.Full fridge microwave and kettle this was a suprise as we were on A/I the food left a lot to be desired the best part was the perfect setting right on the beach with no hawkers or flies. We still had a wonderfull holiday but we wont be going back to the CC.The island is full of buetifull places to see like Bathsheba and the Crane beach also the historic garrison area and the hill stations steeped in our own British history.I also have to say that the bar staff and the waitresses were very good with a smile and laugh all the time.Do try to eat out at the Crane a very speacial treat and the Fish night in OISTINS friday night for local colour,The dining out in the GAP is fairly resonable and safe.
All in all a very good holiday just that we were dissapointed with having to pay for EXTRAS in the CC whitch we would have taken for granted in other A/I establishments. You get what you pay for Stick to 5 STAR like the Almond Beach Village which we stayed in on our last visit to this Island paradise

We were warned by Gold Medal that there was renovation work being carried out, supposed to be completed one week before our arrival - It was still ongoing!
There is only one restaurant and the beach bar was unavailable during our stay.
The room we stayed in had been recently renovated and this was obvious, not very professionally.
We were asked to pay $20.00 US per day for air conditioning!
We were asked for $100.00 US deposit, (if you pay in US you get $195.00 Barbadian back.
Despite all of these, the hotel is in a beautiful location, the beach was clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The pool was adequately sized and clean.
And we had a good holiday.

Booked 'allocation on arrival' which we were advised would be one of 3 all inclusive hotels in Barbados.
Arrived at Coconut Court to find:
Reception dark and dreary.
Room on third floor (no lift).
No airconditioning (ceiling fan only worked at slow speed).
Bathroom (no bath) shower cubicle and sink, again dark and not very clean.
Swimming pool very small.
Little entertainment.
Suplements payable for most cocktails.
Food good.
Beach good.
Asked for immediate tranfer and local rep organised to transfer to Barbados Beach Club after 3 nights.

Do not go to this hotel.
I could go on, but not much point.
After 3 days got transfered to the ";Amaryllis Beach Hotel"; Absolutely fabulous.

Overall Hotel Rating:
This is an eco-friendly hotel with emphasis on re-cycling. This is what drew us to the Coconut Court. We were a little disappointed initially with the accomodation which was a bit basic and slightly shabby - the shower room needed an update and the kitchen(ette) reminded us of our student years. However, we didn't plan to spend too much time indoors so felt that what we had was adequate.
The balcony was large and we had a bit of a sea view, but looked out mostly onto mango groves. We weren't able to leave the French doors or windows open because the birds (bless them) took every opportunity to raid our fruit bowl (even when we were present!). Mosquito's weren't too bad but you need to burn coils at night or the blighters creep up on you during slumber. The rooms on 'our side' of the hotel had ceiling fans which were very necessary at night. We learnt after 6 or 7 days that the rooms on the 'other side' were posher with air conditioning (but more expensive too).
The staff were lovely, especially the 'bell boys' who were polite and helpful and the waiters/waitresses/ housekeepers worked very hard and made us feel welcome (it's worth leaving a small tip each day in your room to show your appreciation). The hotel is very clean and 'gardening' went on most days.
The 'security' was quite tight and this is apparently a necessity. There are guards on the gates and a rota of guards (but I use the term loosely) on the beach. There were a few problems with 'sales people' at the shoreline but if you are seated in the 'hotel beach' vicinity no one troubles you (beware the 'beach bums with little monkeys).
Since the hotel had a strong recycling policy we were a bit surprised to find a number cans/bottles in the sand each day. Our son spent quite a lot of time collecting these and reporting the finds to beach security who took the opinion that if you found it then you should dispose of it. Bit of a shame that no one was 'policing' the litter problem.
The kids club was pretty good and the young lady in charge very patient and knowledgeable. Our son particularly enjoyed feeding the fish IN THE OCEAN at low tide! There wasn't too much entertainment and most guests made their way to the RED ROOSTER bar across the road (which we suspect was owned by the hotel manager). We were advised not to walk out after dark - in fact we went shopping at the local grocery store late one afternoon to find the staff closing up because 'the manager was away and the sunset brought out all sorts of problems'.
