"Best holiday ever"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We had the best holiday ever here!! The hotel was great, the staff were really firnedly, esp in the watersports centre, facilities were great. Great Tennis courts! Beautiful beach and we also hored a private speed boat to take us on a tour round the coast. Choice of restaurants is great and the quality of the food was fantastic!! I must admit we did not leave the resort all holiday, which was OK as we were there for a week, played tennis every day, walked every day, swam, hired jet ski's and ate and drank to our hearts content. We met a few ppl that had been there a number of times, which is usually a good sign too! Great hotel, facilities, staff and location - perfect!!

"Almond Beach Villas review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
If you're happy to stay on the complex, then this could be the place for you as the view is to die for, the gardens well-kept and there are loads of activities (especially watersports) on offer as part of the all inclusive deal.
As many other reviewers have noted, the staff can be a bit hit or miss; some are friendly and others are downright rude, surly and arrogant. If you're the kind of person that can't just take it with a pinch of salt and can bear to wait quite a long time for service (because the bar staff are having a private joke/conversation for up to 6 minutes at a time and ignoring the queue of customers) then fine, but if that kind of thing really gets under your skin (and it clearly did with quite a few people), then think of another hotel/complex.
We stayed in a one bedroom suite, with our 4 year old daughter using the sofa bed in the lounge. It was just about OK for her, but there's no way such an old, uncomfortable sofa bed would do an older child or adult. The metal frame really dug in through the thin mattress, but as this was about 3ft from the top of the bed, it was fine for a 4 year old as it was only just at her feet level. Both rooms had their own toilet, but only the master bedroom had a bathroom. We asked if there was any possibility of changing rooms as this was so small (tiny bath and very cramped room), but were told that all the bathrooms on the complex were the same size. That said, I'm not bothered about it (the wife has a bath, I just shower) and I was well-pleased with the huge balcony, including two tables and chairs and two loungers) with a lovely sea view.
The food was OK. The quality of ingredients and execution of cooking was good, but it was all a bit repetitive. The menus change in all the restaurants on a Monday, but then you'll find that they actually swap certain dishes from one restaurant to the next, so there's not really any additional choice. It's also a shame that the only local fish is flying fish and the rest is all imported. This seems crazy when there's a fishing port about half a kilometre away.
We did a fair amoung of scuba diving with the local dive centre (Reefers and Wreckers). The diving isn't the best in the world (compared to say the Red Sea or Maldives), but it is pretty good. The service and safety standards are absolutely brilliant. The guys and girls really looked after our daughter on the boat whilst we dived (there's no charge for non-divers on the boat which is another bonus) and she really loved the whole experience.
