Sunswept Reviews

Fantastic location! The sunswept is a super hotel set right on the best beach in barbados. The rooms are reasonably sized for two people, although families would be a little cramped. The kitchen was great, making a brilliant self-catering holiday to keep prices down. There is a large supermarket across the road selling everything you need.
The hotel shares the bar with cocomos restaurant (great food, not cheap but about the cheapest around. make sure you visit at happy hour for cheaper drinks with a fantastic sunset!).

DO visit Indigo's restaurant, on the left after the post office/police station on the way to 1st street. Lovely english owner, fabulous food at really great prices.
Also use the great buses, approx 50p to anywhere on the island, a bit of an experience as they get very full (especially the litle yellow ones) but definitely the best way to get around.

We were there in the last two weeks in August 2004 and the resort seemed to be undergoing extensive rebuilding/ maintenance everywhere. This seems to be their closed season and we would not go back at this time (there was constant drilling and the resort was really quiet. We obviously like it quiet but we were the only people in every resaurant and bar we went to, we would have liked to see some other people!)We have visited this island before in June, July and early August and it was never like this.

The hotel right next to the sunswept was also being rebuilt at the time, this should have finished by now but it would be worth checking as we were not informed by our tour operator (Indigo Holidays were very poor if you are considering going with them!).

The Sunswept hotel is an excellent choice in a superb location (every room sea view) if you want a good value accomodation. We would definitely stay here again.
