Very quiet resort nothing there only 4 hotels no locals live there. The island is only around 5 miles square so very small.Idyllic beaches and crystal clear warm sea.

Beautifull beaches

Just behind the beaches are mountains of trash and in the crystal clear water the coral is seriously under threat of being trashed

It is very touristy in Varadaro but everythign is in really close proximity so you can get on a bus and get everywhere. I would recommend to go out to one of the cities like Havana to get a real taste of Cuban life.

I hired Raphael Hernandez, found through Patricia at the Park View Hotel's tour desk, as my driver and drove to two small towns, includoing Guanabacoa. Raphael is so nice and so helpful and such a professional and a great guy as a bonus that he made the trip a pleasure. I went to the Jewish cemetary and the caretaker lives next door in a small shack with a goat tied up like a watchdog. I asked him if he was Jewish and he said no but explained he got his job because "they trust me." He was so helpful in what he showed me and in his explainations (in Spanish). Truly a lovely day, Raphael's talks with me are a wonderful memory and seeing a small town is a pleasure after busy Havana.

We didnt really go out of the hotel other than to Havana so it would be unfair to pass any comment about Varadero, other people we spoke to seemed to like it.

A great resort, wonderful soft white cool sand sloping into a very gently shelved sea. Thousands of fish that will eat bread out of your hand (be careful that they dont bite) a coral reef about 100 yards out you can allmost walk to it when the tide is out. You must get a coconut cocktail on the beach, they come along the beach on a quad bike and make them fresh for you, we paid 5CUC but I dont know what the price (if there is one) is.

It was ok but as we enjoy walking and looking around it was somewhat lacking. The market was ok but again very small with very little to do after the first 40 mins. Clean and friendly but quiet.

Little island with just Hotels on , fantastic beaches, sea really safe and shallow, not much else, everything tailored around the hotels.

Only visited the resort a couple of times, it was quite nice, really liked the market. Remember to haggle!

The beach is beautiful here, but thers not that much to do.

The sea! OMG! It's stunning! We had great weather whilst there and the sea was beautifully crystal clear and deliciously warm! The locals make you feel really welcome there too. Make sure to go swimming with dolphins and indulge a catamaran ride wit fresh lobster and pina coladas!

We stayed at Havana and Varedero. Havana is great and we wished we stayed there longer it has lots of historic buldings and places to see and a reasonable nightlife with live bands in nearly every bar. I can recommend going to see Tropicana Club and Buena Vista Social Club these two places were the highlights of our trip. Varedero on the other hand is lacking any history as it is all newly nuilt all inclusive hotels with nothing mucjh to do outside of them.. just a small market on 15th street.

There was not a great deal to see in Varadero, however the beach was superb. Cuba is very cheap to eat out in, and a day trip to Havana is a must. We took the bus oureslves from Varadero, costing approx 15CuC each for a return ticket. Advised to book hotel in Havana on internet before you go to rip off guides!!

The resort is just on an island that has had the forest cleared to put hotels on it. Vey relaxing if you want to do nothing but eat drink and sunbathe. But you should visit Havanah because as the locals say 'you haven't been to Cuba if you've only been to Cayo Coco!'. Although the resort itself is quiet, there are plenty of trips to get you round.

only went into town once found it to be clean good beach but not much more except very small market and a couple of bars. ok for day out

all attractions are hotel based,cayo coco is unspoilt and stunning,wish i was back there.the beaches are white sand and go on for miles.
