Not impressed with the town and some of the hotels and beach need a makeover. Put me in mind of butlins

The hotel is on a remote part of the coast-line and there is very little close by apart from two neighbouring hotels a 10 minute walk away.

Unless you actually arrange a tour, or choose to venture out the locality of the hotel - you wont see Guardalavaca itself. So we cannot comment on Guardalavaca as a resort.

I think the resort is in a great location right on the Playa esmeralda beach which is beautiful (according to a book on Cuba I had it is one of the top 10 beaches!). You can play volleyball on the beach, there is a giant chess board, you can learn to windsurf, go snorkelling or there is a dive centre right on the beach where you can learn to scuba dive - we did this and completed our Open Water Diver through ACUC. There is also an ecological trail next to the hotel which is really interesting and you get a beautiful view of the beach and see from the lookout point on the trail. The hotel entertainment team are great and organise lots of things. There is a nightly show - e.g. water ballet, dancing etc. There are 2 pools -one on the Mares side of the resort and one on the Luna side, the Mares pool has the pool bar which is great for taking advantage of the all inclusive drinks! There are plenty of tours that you can pay extra to do such as a trip to Havanna, swimming with dolphins, jeep tours, visiting a cigar factory are just some. Cuba is a fantastic country and this resort had everything I needed! It was the first time I had been on an all inclusive holiday and I would definitely recommend this resort!

Warm Sunny happy chilled atmostphere most of the time not a bad resort as it goes it was near the dolphins which were great and only an hour from the airport it was just what we needed to relax

Beautiful place with plenty to do if you are willing to explore, there are several beaches which are very beautiful and if you visit the tourist only beaches they are imaculate and well kept. The only downside is because cuba is an island and the layout it can be windy sometime, but don't let this put you off as it varies depending on the season and the actual weather. 9 out of 10

better than the north which is more club based

the resort was good beach bars good market ok.only went there once as there was lots to do at the hotel.

It was ok but as we enjoy walking and looking around it was somewhat lacking. The market was ok but again very small with very little to do after the first 40 mins. Clean and friendly but quiet.

Only visited the resort a couple of times, it was quite nice, really liked the market. Remember to haggle!

The beach is beautiful here, but thers not that much to do.

We had no reason to leave the Hotel apart from excursions !!! The Beaches were Excellent, they had a lot of water sports such as windsurfing, Hoby cat, Peadalo and Kayaks.

only went into town once found it to be clean good beach but not much more except very small market and a couple of bars. ok for day out

If you want to spend more than half an hour at this resort you will do well!!! We hated it. Your shopping can be done in less than half an hour. If you go down onto the beach, be careful its not a pleasant experience, there are working girls (you know what i'm saying) who dont care if your married or not, its very loud and dirty, not like the beach where we were staying. Hated it. We also changed some money here at the Club Amigo Hotel, God knows who stays there but is was filthy, smelly and so unhygeinic and thats being kind about the hotel. If you see that hotel cheap anywhere, avoid it like the plague............

beautiful sandy beaches... weather was gorgeous so hot and relaxing! the only problem we had was because we went with virgin airways they didn't fly directly into Holquin so we had to get an internal transfer which you had to book (in very small print it is a aeroplane transfer). Virgin are considering flying direct at some stage if they do it would be much better!

Good views beautiful beach, did not see a geat deal of the resort. A few trees down from last years hurricanes but
