"The Dominican Republic"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This hotel is well below what was expected! I rate it as 0 out of 10. I notice that this hotel has a lot of decent reviews prior to 2008 but not it will receive many bad ones as the standards have slipped consereraly since 2007. I would advise not to book this hotel. Stay in the south of the Island where you have the real Caribbean experience!!! The Sands are like those of Tenerife in the north so if it's white sands you're after you will be disapointed.
I have had such a bad experience at this hotel with everything from Food Poisoning, thefts, indecent photographs of children being sold to many many more problems! I was GLAD to get home!

"Great Holiday! Casa Marina Reef, Sosua, "
Overall Hotel Rating:
I stayed at the Casa Marina Reef, Sosua last August with my husband and 2 teenage children (14 & 16)and had a truely wonderful holiday. The rooms were basic but very clean. The staff were extremely friendly, particularly the cleaners and bar staff. The pool area was always clean, as was the beach. This was the first all inclusive holiday we had been on and was very impressed. The food was also much better than we were expecting, not repetitive and always a great choice - especially at breakfast. My husband and I tended to sit on the beach - there were games organised on the beach (volley ball, football etc) but there was no pressure to join in. We found this an ideal holiday having teenagers as there was something for everyone and they met lots of friends who they still keep in touch with. When anyone left to return home they all used to go to reception to wave them off. It is very safe on the resort. We walked round the town during the day and it was fine, although you can get pestered to buy things. Every so often the electricity goes off but the generator 'kicks' in straight away so it was never a problem - we were also told that houses in the town only have electricity on certain days of the week so we considered ourselves lucky! Would definitely go back. Great Thomas Cook rep called Sonja (she loves Cadbury chocolate and its difficult to come by out there!) If you are visiting this hotel you will have a great holiday and don't take any notice of any bad reviews!
