Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunset Waters, this is a small hotel which is something we always look for when booking a holiday, as this usually means a more personal touch. On arrival we were met by Jim the mgr and told not to unpack as we were being upgraded from superior ocean front to Junior suite the following day, a very good start to the holiday.... First day up looking out to sea and the dolphins swam straight across the bay, I thought it can't get better than this.... Jim made himself very visible in the hotel and joined the guests for drinks making sure everything was okay, if you are unhappy about anything just say and it will be resolved. You are isolated in this hotel and the taxi charges were becoming a bit of a sore point at $80 a throw, our fault - we forgot to take our driving licences! so we had a word with Jim and he said either use my car or we will try to fit times in with the Willemstad shuttle bus, well being cautious Brits, not having acquired car insurance, etc for our stay in Curacao we thought the shuttle bus was the best option, we never had to pay a taxi fare again.
We did quite a few trips out and about - Seaquarium (we did an uncertificated dive here to feed the sharks, turtles, rays, etc, I have trouble equalising and have been unable to dive in the past, the instructor was amazing and didn't give up on me the whole time we were in the water, most other places would have just pulled me back to the surface and said it was impossible for me to dive, we also did the sea lion encounter - brill), driving around the national park in the back of a pick up with Cyril (you can arrange this through the national park, Cyril was amazing, he loves his island and it shows), the West Point tour (baco tabla, pistol, etc - amazing, this was a hotel trip with Floyd, another amazing guy and guide), The Bounty snorkelling trip ( a really good 4/5 hrs where one of the stops is the tug boat (take food the fish expect to be fed and are all around you as soon as you get into the water!!!) you don't actually go very far on the boat but still a fantastic trip - highly recommended), we also did Klein Curacao (I enjoyed this but we did think it was a long day - leave at 7:00am - back at 6pm), Willemstad (we only spent a day here, so only got to see the Maritime Museum, I would also have liked to see the slave museum and the Jewish Synagogue), we spent a night at Hooks hut (fantastic food and service) Hato Caves (awesome, they have added pathways through to make this accessible to tourists, which didn't detract the feel of the caves, they had really thought this out) Morning Ruth as we called her arranged all our trips through the hotel at no extra charge, she was fantastic, reliable, no mishaps and made our holiday, so a big, big thank you.
I wouldn't say there was a huge choice of food at Sunset Waters (which wasn't a problem), sometimes it was buffet, sometimes menu but what they did offer was cooked extremely well, also if you had special dietery requirements, vegetarian, etc, the chef would make you something special, I cannot fault the food at all. I will agree with other reviews the only thing Sunset Waters needs is a bit of a re-furb, the rooms and bathrooms are looking a little tired, but hey you don't go on holiday to sit in your hotel room.
We had quite a long stay at Sunset Waters 18 days in total, I still wasn't ready to come home, we even left with a gift from the hotel - a T shirt for me and a cap for my husband, which really touched me! We also met some great friends, if you read this you know who you are, and you guys too made our stay all the more special, we will keep in touch. Sunset Waters - would I return? Yes, but I've still got a few more places in the world I'd like to see first.... Thank you Sunset Waters

My partner and I stayed at the Hilton for 2 weeks, and were in particular impressed with the friendly atmosphere. Overall it is not yet quite up to the Hilton standard here in Europe, but the rooms were clean and staff were exceptionally friendly.
Check-in was quick, barely giving us enough time to drink the served welcome drink. We were given a room on the second floor with a spectacular view (right in line with the beach), unfortunately it also had a very mouldy smell and was very damp, which during the first night proved unbearable, inparticular as I am very allergic to dust mites. Also it turned out the room had no hot water. However when we complained the following morning, we were quickly given another room with hot water and no smell.
The breakfast buffet was great and staff during the week was very attentive. Unfortunately this is not true for the staff during the weekends, we did not manage to get any coffee during the two weekends we were there. We were not so impressed with the food at the Cielo restaurant, although it was OK and entertainment was great, the service there was lacking somewhat and the quality of the food was not quite what we expected. The strawberry smoothies from the beach bar, however, quickly became very popular with us.
The grounds, pools and beaches are fantastic! We preferred the Parasasa Beach, but both beaches had plenty of loungers. The adult pool was just amazing and at times we would be the only ones there. Although be aware that the pool functions more or less as a public pool, open for anyone to buy a day ticket (although many did not bother paying), which we are all for, but it does mean that it can get very rowdy during the week-end.
As we were there for two weeks, we hired a car from Budget for the second week. It is possible to walk to places like Willemstad from the hotel, but it takes about an hour because of the heat. If you have to take a taxi, Mrs. Amorella is great. She can usually be found in her white mini-van in the parking lot. I would publish her tel. no., but I'm not sure if she would want me to. Be aware that contrary to information published both by Hilton and Avis, Avis does not have an office at the Hilton anymore. Stay well clear of Avis is my advice. We had booked a jeep with them before the trip with delivery and return at the Hotel. An hour before they were to deliver the car, they called to say that they would pick us up at the hotel and we would then have to drive them to their office in Otrabanda. We were so disgusted by the condition of the car they were offering, their lack of service and the attitude of the woman who picked us up that we cancelled the booking and walked out of their office. Budget, while more expensive, do have an office at the hotel and more importantly a great service and simi-decent cars.
We had a fantastic time driving around the island. Christoffel Park, the Ostrich Farm, the flamingo area and Boca Table are not to be missed.
All in all we had a great time on the island, and can recommend the Hilton even if there is room for improvement.
