Runaway Bay Holiday Reviews

As we were all-inclusive, eating out and nightlife outside the hotel wasn't really applicable to us. The restaurants at the hotel were more than enough! Entertainment at the hotel was varied, interactive and often hilarious, usually finished around 11.30pm, after which a disco went on until after 2am (indoor and soundproofed). The entertainment team are absolutely brilliant! Just outside the hotel grounds is a nightclub, British style pub, a cash machine, a couple of supermarkets and two shops selling handcrafted souvenirs, but we found very little need to leave the grounds apart from the organised tours. Runaway Bay is an excellent location if you want to explore Jamaica, only 20 minutes from Ocho Rios (shopping, Dunn's River Falls, Dolphin Cove, Mystic Mountain Bobsled and Skyride) and an hour or so from Nine Mile (Bob Marley tour). The weather was also much better than other areas of Jamaica - we were baking in the heat under a cloudless sky while Montego Bay had heavy rain!

Nice resort but would not recommend going into the resort alone as you get approached by all sorts of people trying to sell you stuff and they want to show you places etc.

We didnt venture into the resort of Runaway Bay so we cannot comment on the facilities on offer hence I have only marked them as average

try and get out the hotel and explore as we did the local are so friendly and browns town was amazing.

Bob marley tour, very disapointed wouldn't recommend.

Just returned from a 10 day stay and couldnt be more happy with a holiday. It really is a lovely hotel in a beautiful beach location, the staff cant do enough for you, everything is clean and tidy, lovely gardens tended daily everybody seems committed to you having a great time. Lovely shallow beach cove for the children to play in the warm waters. And can I say to anyone going with thomas cook your rep patrick is fantastic he really is yeah man

The beaches are ok but not as good as elsewhere in the Caribbean and other parts of Jamaica. There are lots of places to visit within easy reach by taxi or hired car and some really good excursions available, though these are very expensive. We hired a car and had no problem finding our way around. We were not interested in night life so can't comment. Eating out is expensive but the food is fine as long as you like jerk chicken and pork, which fortunately we do.

The hotel was all inclusive so we did not venture out to eat and the entertainment at the hotel was fantastic so we had no reason to go elsewhere. We went on a few tours. We didn't like to restricted shoppping trip to Ocho Rios as we did not have any freedom to go where we wished, otherwise Dunns River and Nine Miles was worth every penny. Loved the Bob Jeep and the whole Bob Marley experience. Next time, and there will be a next time, we will take a taxi into Ocho Rios and do our own thing.

this was a lovely friendly hotel everything about it was good. I have no complaints atall. The entertainment staff were excellent waiter bar staff etc. all nice and friendly and served you with a smile. An excellent holiday apart from the bad weather we had.

The resort was kept clean - although a lot of building is still going on - The hotel food was fantastic the presentation was amazing and nothing too much problem for the bar/waiting staff. The entertainment was different every night - some shows better than other

Runaway Bay is very central to the main attractions. I would really recommed going to Dolphin Cove it is amazing, Dunnes River, Bob marley are also really good place to go.

Excellent. Plenty to see and do, loads of excursions as well. Although even if you just want a wander down to the beach and round the complex, there is plenty to do.

We went on four trips, the best one was by far was cool runnings, Bob Marleys musesm was good and black river was ace - def recommend these, we didnt enjoy the Negril beach and sunset - it was sold to us and we were disappointed when we got to negril as we were just put on another hotels beach which was very very crowded! You imagine white sands, blue sea and very few people, however the sunset at the rock cafe was good. Well recommended hotel - we will be def going back.

Runaway Bay is a beautiful resort that is quiet in comparison to Montego Bay or Ocho Rios but if a laidback, get away from it all holiday where you can recharge your batteries is what you want then this is the place to go.

Being all inclusive in a compound resort we didnt really wander out into the main street apart from a visit to the Supermarket and Pharmacy. Although i am sure we would have been ok i wouldnt go out at night and the resort is mainly for the use of the locals
