On arrival the resort is very pleasent. We were getting married on the resort so we up graded to a honeymoon sea front delux room (2101)First impressions very nice room but no view of the sea as the gardens were so big they blocked our view, which was dissapointing. From our room it was very very noisey we were next to were they bring out morning breakfast dinner and tea on trollies which was wheeled over tiled floor so you can imagine the noise we had!!! So i warn you to take ear plugs!!! Also there is very noisey crickets that come out at night!!!
The resort is very clean, you have a house maid which goes to your room 3 times a day. I never seen any litter anywhere while i was there.
As for our wedding it was fabulous, but which out for extras!! As we thought we had paid for every thing, they ask you to up grade on things which work out very expensive, especially the photographs.
The staff that work there are very friendly and you will meet alot of new friends, there was alot of americans when we went not alot of english and most are people are on honeymoons or getting married. If your after night life there is not any as every one goes to bed about 10.30!! So if your after true relaxation then this is the holiday for you! They serve cocktails from 10 o clock in the morning at the pool bar and alot of entertainment in the day time.
5 differant places to eat serving all differant menus also you can get a free shuttle bus to the 2 other sandals resorts on the island.
All in all very relaxing holiday but not as posh as i thought sandals would be!!

Had a great week at Rendezvous (relaxing after a week in Florida for our 25th.
We both loved the resort and the satff were very friendly.
The food was very good with the ";Trysting"; excellent.
Genrally had an excellent time, sun, sea and a bit of loving as well (yes even at our ages) !
Only two negative things, 1) as mentioned above, it's lovely to eat outside, but not good when you you discover bird poo on your cutlery and table !
2) Two weeks after getting home I developed unbelievably itshy feet and after a couple of weeks was told that I had hook worm lava running around them !
Since found out that it's fairly common out there !
Took ages to kill the bggers - so I would strongly advise wearing footware everywhere !
All in all though beautiful place...

Harmony Suites excellent accomodation for price, friendly staff, quiet place, no kids. Virgin flights, staff and organisation excellent. We paid for the luxury suite which was on the marina waterfront with 4 poster and Jacuzzi which we only used twice in 3 weeks. In hindsight the next level of suite down would have been better as it would have been beside the pool and had full cooking facilities though the waterfront does have more privacy. There is no real hotel bar you have to use the bar in the Edge restaurant which is on the waterfront within the hotel complex. We only ate there once, very good food but overly complex and definately very pricy.
The hotel is only 50 yards from the main strip - Redoubt Ave which has all the bars and restaurants. Best breakfast around was the Cats Whiskers pub. Most of the retaurants were very good, Castaways was our favourite for dinner and a few drinks but we also had excellent food at Buzzs (best lobster around), Razmatz(Indian) Memories of Hong Kong (Chinese) Big Chef best steak around - though drinks were expensive there.
Trips we thought were good were the shopping tour, the all day Virgin catamaran trip. Wouldn't go on the fish friday trip as they try to overcharge for Lobster -eat it at Buzzs - better value and surroundings. Sunset cruise on the pirate ship is ok but it is only 2 -3 hrs, forget the food. Very little entertainment on at night so suggest The Cats Whiskers where H and Mel will make you welcome for a few drinks before moving on to a restaurant. We had several tropical storms and it was in the low 90s every day -a bit too hot for us, if returning we would go December - April.
Overall prices a bit expensive for what you get, expect to pay at least £35 per couple per night for dinner, double if you go to some. St lucians were friendly, well spoken and no beggars or timeshare touts around. An expensive but relaxing holiday though we wouldn't return unless the exchange rate was better or the prices came down

We have been to the Caribbean about 12 times now. Stayed here in 1997. The Beach is the worst part we think. It is quite small and the access to the sea is quite steep in places and rocky. Also the sand is not very deep and seemed hard. This is for people who want a quiet holiday as there are no pool games in the day or games on the beach. When we went the hotel was quiet and i don't think the beach would be very good if the hotel was full. The evening entertainment was poor. A lot of people had the same opinion.
The plus points were the meals were excellant a la carte. Not a problem booking for 2 days at a time. The staff are excellant they can't do enough for you. We had only previously had buffet meals but always found something we liked on the menu. Our room had a sea view both back and front and was fantastic. If you want to get married there then there is a nice wedding gazebo facing the carribean sea. We only found out days before we left you can get a bus to some shops half a mile up the road. The duty free jewllers has good prices and lovely staff at the hotel branch.
At the moment there are building works going on to add 100 extra rooms a pool and restaurant, due to be finished in March. It is far form the accomodation but noise can be heard from the pool, beach and restaurants. There are presently road works going on for the Cricket in March 2007.

The resort is nothing like you see in the brochures and everything is in need of being either replaced or fixed.
The adults only areas are full of children, the rooms have not seen a lick of paint or maintenance in years and the restaurnat runs out of food, plates, cups, cutlery, tableclothes and everything else that you need for a decent holiday.
Go anywhere but here! and use a different tour operator too.

If you have dreams of the caribbean, this is not it - the beach is even manmade!
The food is horrific and made all my children ill.The hygeine standards are extremely bad(I was served by one lady who ate her own lunch, spoke on her mobile, picked up a raw burger and a bread roll all with the same glove and in scorching heat).
The staff know that you will either love it or hate it - well, in my party was my 72 year old mother in law, my 55 year old mother, my husband and I at 44 and 33 and our children at 7 and 3 year old twins. Is that not a good spectrum of ages? We all hated it and couldn't wait to leave.
I cannot make this any stronger but say ITS A MASSIVE COMPROMISE OF ALL YOUR STANDARDS IN HEALTH and SAFETY, FOOD, FUN, COMFORT AND RELAXATION - Not Recommended

This is one of the best holidays I have ever had. When we arrived we were greeted with cocktails. We had requested a sea view and a 2 queen size beds and were lucky to get 2 queens and a single. The restuarants were excellent but the childrens menu was the same daily. There were 4 swimming pools but the no 4 was not as such a proper pool. There was a room with slush puppys and ice cream ,and a kids club and teen club. There was watersports such as windsurfing watersking pedalo kayak, the beach was lovely sand lush sand. We went on a pirate ship across to another part of the island and saw volcanos and a waterfall, we saw dolphins and had a treasure hunt and water fight.Duty free was good and we got loads of items to bring back
I cant wait to go back again soon.

March is a great time to go because there's no rain to speak of. The Rex was everything we needed, i.e. a beach you could walk onto from the hotel, nice food (especially the fish) at the buffet and all the staff were really cool. Room was fine for 2 + 2, but we were harldy ever in it.
You could get away without spending anything if you felt like it. I lived on 'run on the rocks' and the local Piton lager (now owned by Heineken like everything else on the planet)for two weeks.
Once you leave the hotel complex it does get expensive. We went to the Buzz restaurant, and the food was lovely but the bill was > 150 GBP for a family of 4 despite me being fairly restrained on the booze front (well, almost).
St Lucia is renowned as a safe place to go. Would like to see more of the island next time, basically just did the Virgin catamaran tour (fab). Seems like Reduite Bay is the place for white sand. Can't wait to go back.

We booked the St Lucian Rex through British Airways over the internet but arranged our own flights and transfers.
Although the hotel didn't come up to expectations because it was very tired looking and shabby, the location was excellent. We like to book room only and eat in local restaurants rather than in the hotel and we were glad we did because there was little choice of restaurant in the hotel.
The St Lucian Rex and The Papillon are sister hotels and share facilities. The Papillon was closed, but bookings were still being taken for this hotel and some guests were moved into the St Lucian Rex rooms on arrival. The only rooms of the Papillon used were in the wing directly adjacent to the St Lucian. Consequently the Papillon restaurants were closed so the only options for all-inclusive people were the Mariners or Oriental restaurants. Some of the all-inclusive people we spoke to were very unhappy with the food in the Mariners and also ate out like us. The Oriental was closed on a number of occasions reducing the choice to just one restaurant. We ate in there a couple of times and found it was very good. We were going to eat in the Mariners one evening early in our stay but I was turned away because I was wearing shorts. Long trousers was the required dress code for men. I was actually wearing quality tailored shorts with a dress shirt but other guests were allowed in wearing tracksuit bottoms and tee shirts. The dress code was a nonsense. I was not denied access to any restaurant in Rodney Bay when wearing shorts including Buzz and the very up market Edge restaurant. Smart casual was acceptable everywhere else.
The local restaurants in Rodney Bay are very good especially The Edge, Buzz, Eagle Tavern, Spinnaker's and Ti Banane. Most restaurants also do breakfasts and Spinnakers was one of our regular haunts for breakfast, situated right on the beach. We had some excellent food in lovely surroundings. We would recommend booking room only and then take advantage of the food available out of the resort. The prices are roughly comparable with the UK.
During our stay there was quite a lot of work going on to give the place a face lift which it definitely needs. We must say that the location right on the beach and within easy walking distance of numerous restaurants made for a good holiday.
We hired a car for 3 days and drove round the whole island. No problem at all as St Lucians drive on the left like UK. Road signs are a bit few and far between but if you get lost just head for the coast.
The staff in the hotel were friendly as are the St Lucians generally. The maid service was excellent and our room was kept very clean. The air conditioning was noisy and not the most efficient we've encountered, it also vented onto the balcony which made sitting on the balcony like sitting in a sauna. We just switched it off during the day.

We went to the Rendezvous for our Honeymoon and we can honestly say it's the best holiday and resort we have ever been to.
The hotel itself is lovely, very clean and extremely confortable. We stayed in a Verandah Suite and the room was absolutely lovely. On arrival we were greeted with a very welcome Cocktail and wet towel, we were then shown to our rooms whereby we found that 'Congratulations' had been written on the bed in flowers and we had a basket of fruit and bottle of Champagne waiting for us.
The Gardens are lovely and very well maintained, as is the beach. The flag in the sand idea for when you want a drink is excellent, although you do feel somewhat lazy using it! The planes that other people have commented on really aren't a problem - I think in the 10 days we were there I only saw 2/3 and you do not hear them at all. As for the graveyard - it took me over a week to even notice it and even then it certainly didn't bother me, nor did it appear to bother any of the other guest we spoke to.
There are 2 restaurants, one is buffet style and caterers for everyone, I am vegetarian and can certainly say I never went hungry. The other restaurant is more of a formal sit down meal, but the food was wonderful - we made the mistake of not going to eat in the restaurant until later on in our holiday and we both wish we had tried it earlier so we could have taken more advantage of the place.
The drinks are all nice at the hotel and the spirits are branded. The cocktails are a particluar highlight I would recommend an 'Old Pal' and the daily specials that are served everyday from the Pool bar.
The entertainment staff are very friendly and clearly love what they do for a living - particularly Deano and Javan who spend most of the time dancing round, and generally giving the place a light and relaxed atmosphere. There are activities to take part in during the day, but you are by no means pressurised in anyway to take part - although I would recommend giving a couple a go for a giggle. The watersports which are included in the package are well worth trying out and the guys who run the watersport section could not be more helpful. The evening entertainment is a mixture of the entertainment staff and acts which are brought in, all of which were very good.
The only word of warning is the Mosquitos - I would recommend buying some insect repellant from the hotel shop, as the British stuff that we took didn't seem to make any difference.
For those who are planning a trip round the sametime and want to know about the weather - all in all it was nice, it was always hot and usually sunny, it rained almost everyday but this was usually very welcome rain (cool you down a bit) and you rarely even bothered to get off your sunbed to move undercover.
All in all I cannot fault the place, it gave us the most wonderful honeymoon and we would certainly go back. It is the perfect break for romantics - it has the perfect combination of being alone if you want to or joining in a making new friends as well.
