We went to the Rendezvous for our Honeymoon and we can honestly say it's the best holiday and resort we have ever been to.

The hotel itself is lovely, very clean and extremely confortable. We stayed in a Verandah Suite and the room was absolutely lovely. On arrival we were greeted with a very welcome Cocktail and wet towel, we were then shown to our rooms whereby we found that 'Congratulations' had been written on the bed in flowers and we had a basket of fruit and bottle of Champagne waiting for us.

The Gardens are lovely and very well maintained, as is the beach. The flag in the sand idea for when you want a drink is excellent, although you do feel somewhat lazy using it! The planes that other people have commented on really aren't a problem - I think in the 10 days we were there I only saw 2/3 and you do not hear them at all. As for the graveyard - it took me over a week to even notice it and even then it certainly didn't bother me, nor did it appear to bother any of the other guest we spoke to.

There are 2 restaurants, one is buffet style and caterers for everyone, I am vegetarian and can certainly say I never went hungry. The other restaurant is more of a formal sit down meal, but the food was wonderful - we made the mistake of not going to eat in the restaurant until later on in our holiday and we both wish we had tried it earlier so we could have taken more advantage of the place.

The drinks are all nice at the hotel and the spirits are branded. The cocktails are a particluar highlight I would recommend an 'Old Pal' and the daily specials that are served everyday from the Pool bar.

The entertainment staff are very friendly and clearly love what they do for a living - particularly Deano and Javan who spend most of the time dancing round, and generally giving the place a light and relaxed atmosphere. There are activities to take part in during the day, but you are by no means pressurised in anyway to take part - although I would recommend giving a couple a go for a giggle. The watersports which are included in the package are well worth trying out and the guys who run the watersport section could not be more helpful. The evening entertainment is a mixture of the entertainment staff and acts which are brought in, all of which were very good.

The only word of warning is the Mosquitos - I would recommend buying some insect repellant from the hotel shop, as the British stuff that we took didn't seem to make any difference.

For those who are planning a trip round the sametime and want to know about the weather - all in all it was nice, it was always hot and usually sunny, it rained almost everyday but this was usually very welcome rain (cool you down a bit) and you rarely even bothered to get off your sunbed to move undercover.

All in all I cannot fault the place, it gave us the most wonderful honeymoon and we would certainly go back. It is the perfect break for romantics - it has the perfect combination of being alone if you want to or joining in a making new friends as well.

Had a great week at Rendezvous (relaxing after a week in Florida for our 25th.

We both loved the resort and the satff were very friendly.

The food was very good with the ";Trysting"; excellent.

Genrally had an excellent time, sun, sea and a bit of loving as well (yes even at our ages) !

Only two negative things, 1) as mentioned above, it's lovely to eat outside, but not good when you you discover bird poo on your cutlery and table !
2) Two weeks after getting home I developed unbelievably itshy feet and after a couple of weeks was told that I had hook worm lava running around them !
Since found out that it's fairly common out there !
Took ages to kill the bggers - so I would strongly advise wearing footware everywhere !

All in all though beautiful place...

St Lucia was our dream destination for our honeymoon. This was booked after reading some of the reviews on this site. It is noted that this is not the most expensive resort in St Lucia but we wanted to go there for our dream holiday so paid the £3200 to go.

Firstly I cannot reccommend highly enough the helicopter transfer from the airport upon your arrival. It takes 10 minutes and what a great way to be introduced to the island. We flew over the pitons which was an experience! After 8-9 hours on a flight you want to get to your resort as soon as possible and its about 1.5hrs in a mini bus on dodgy roads. On our return after about 10 minutes we wished we were in the helicopter!

We stayed in the luxury ocean front room. The balconies of opposing rooms do face each other but we never met another couple on the facing one and unless you want to sit there naked you'll never have a problem. Watching the sunset is spectacular. The room was clean and large enough for what we wanted to use it for!

The service in the buffet restaurant could not be faulted. They come and top your drinks up etc and you get treated like royalty. There is a good selection of food and you can choose what you want for breakfast eggs, bacon etc. Dinner is a selection of foods and the toasted sandwiches are reccommended. You tend to find that the same food is served by day so you can gues whats coming. The evenings are much the smae and I'm a faddy eater but never struggled to find something. The BBQ night on wednesday is by far the best night. Steel band, limbo dancing and fire eaters along with excellent food which is served on the beach. Take any cameras etc along with you for this night. The entertainment is really good with local bands playing love songs galore on each night. Lady in red, Lionel Richie etc etc.

The beach is gorgeous although some beggars do come walking through and you get a distinct impression that the locals are not too impressed with the rich holiday makers. There is a flag system whereby if you want a drink you put your flag in the beach and two more drinks appear. Its heaven. Rum and Cranberry juice ice crush was our favourite. The weather was great although it did rain for a couple of times which was refreshing more than anything but it soon blows over and gives you chance to go back to your room!

The airport is nearby infact the hotel is at teh end of the runway but these are small propeller flights like Barton airport in Manchester flying to other islands. We werent put off although the airport was closed for one of the weeks that we were there.

The bar service was excellent and very rarely did we have to go. Once they knew what you were drinking as soon as your glass emptied two new drinks appeared on the table in front of you. This is exactly how you want to be treated on honeymoon.

The trysting place restaurant is really nice and gives you an opportunity to get dressed up. The food is great Steak chips etc etc. You have to book your night but check with the menu first before booking as not to waste your visits.

We went on the Pirates of the carribean boat trip to the Volcano and it was a great day out, althought we're not too convinced that the ship was used in the film!! But who cares.

I would reccommend this resort to any couple who fancy St Lucia that can't afford the £4k for maybe Barbados or Antiga as you'll have a wonderful time and be treated like royalty. We have no regrets and will remember it forever. ps get that helicopter booked. I hate flying but it was great.

Poor

Open quote

We booked over a year in advance to stay at Rendezvous the ";escape for romantics"; for our honeymoon, drawn in by the promise of paradise, tranquility, crystal clear waters and luxurious rooms.

The reality was that this place was everything that you may expect from a below par 2 or 3 star resort.

Where to begin?

ROOMS

We stayed in what they called a luxury ocean front room, sold to us saying that you could literally walk out on to the beach had a hammock outside luxury bathroom etc etc.

For a start it was one floor up therefore you couldn't walk out on to the beach.
The balcony was facing the balcony next to it so you had no privacy and had to look over your right shoulder to get a glimpse of the sea through the trees that blocked the view.
The room had no fridge whereas cheaper rooms had one.
The safety deposit box didn't work.
The size of the room was very disappointing; I've stayed in larger rooms at Travelodge's.
The bathroom was disgusting, dirty and we had no hot water for three days.
The air conditioning was noisier than the constant noise from the airport located 800 yards from the hotel which made it very difficult to sleep.
The only positive was that the bed was very comfy.
In short the luxury ocean front rooms were sub-standard and a complete rip off, we did see our friend's room, they were staying in verandah suites, these were a lot better but still only acceptable and far from what you would expect on a honeymoon.

SERVICE

Bar staff - mostly excellent although I was aware of one member of staff selling drugs to a fellow honeymooner. Not just grass either, coke
Reception - Appalling. There attitude was that ";we should be happy with the room that we've got";. An utter disgrace
Entertainment - Very nice people
Boutique - There is a woman who works here that is exceedingly rude and who also tried to short change me several times when we were there.

VALUE

What more can I say, we paid £2800 for our two weeks in a luxury ocean front room all-inclusive and expected a lot better. To put in comparison last year we went to Crete and had an amazingly luxurious holiday at a 5* hotel all inclusive for only £450 each. We only wished we'd done something like that this year, this place was horrific.

CLEANLINESS

The pool was awful, we did some scuba training in the water and you couldn't see further than a couple of metres under the water because it was that murky. Not surprising considering we saw it being ";cleaned"; for ten minutes during our entire 14 nightmare days.

DINING

There are two restaurants that you could dine in, one was a buffet open air and the other was indoor air-conditioned set menu restaurant called the trysting. To start with the Trysting, the food was nice although not excellent. Excellent if your idea of a nice meal is tough meat, overcooked vegetables and a poor choice of wine.
The terrace restaurant was woeful. Stray cats and dogs are allowed to walk freely through the restaurant scoffing up food that fellow diners are dropping on the floor for them. But worst of all birds fly in the restaurant and sit on the cables holding the lights above the tables and periodically do their business on top of diners! My wife was pooed on twice on the same day, once eating breakfast and once during lunch. On fellow honeymooner I know of had poo land on his nose and ricochet into his meal while he ate.

The food here was poor to mediocre. Avoid like the plague any seafood as I know of several people who were violently ill for several days after eating. Not surprising given that the aforementioned birds are allowed to fly in and feed from the hotplates and I haven't mentioned the insect infestation at this resort yet. The only thing that was nice here was one of the chefs made really nice crepes for desert some nights.

ACTIVITIES AND GYM

Didn't actually use the gym but from what I saw it was very well equipped.
Activities were excellent, water sports were excellent as was scuba and the evenings entertainment was also amusing, although probably more aimed at an older audience.

BEACH

Although the sand itself was a nice colour the water was exceedingly murky, certainly not the turquoise waters we were promised. While we were there after there had been excessive rain raw sewage was washed up on the beach which included bottles used sanitaries and loads more not-mentionables which made the beach a no go area and only made the insect infestation worse.

My advice is if you have booked this hotel for your honeymoon cancel it now and go somewhere else. This place is horrible, St Lucia as an island is ok but we would definitely never return. The crazy thing is that some people had actually transferred from other hotels on the island that apparently were even worse! We also spoke to some people at the airport who had similar problems at Sandals. If you are looking for a honeymoon avoid St Lucia and in
particular this hotel and go to the Virgin Islands or the Maldives.

Just returned from two fantastic weeks at rendezvous, the hotel and gardens are lovely, staff brilliant and work very hard indeed. We had an oceanfront room, lovely room that steps right out onto the beach, outside our room was one of their lovely wedding arch's where we got married and that was just the most perfect day for us.
flight path is no trouble, you hardly notice it. The Trysting Place restaurant is just excellent and must not be missed.Scuba team are fantastic and are great fun to be with.

Entertainment is very good and all the staff are so friendly indeed, lots happening during the day if you want to participate if not you are left alone to relax, evening enterainment very enjoyable. Food very good, you can eat 6 times a day at this hotel, afternoon tea - very fattening..

Watch out for mosquito's ensure you spray yourself before you go out at night and spray your room but apart from the mosquito's this was one of the best hotels i have been to, we had the most relaxing and wonderful holiday and wedding. We will return soon

We cannot recommend Rendezvous highly enough! We were met at reception on arrival with a glass of rum punch, shown to our rooms and our bags were delivered less than five minutes later. We were delighted to find that we had recieved an upgrade to a Verandah Suite (due to the fact that we were there for only one week) and had a much nicer room than our friends had, who were getting married there! The rooms are spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished with fresh flowers all over the room. Towels are replaced and the rooms cleaned daily.

The hotel and grounds are beautifully kept and we saw teams of gardeners at work every day. The pools are clean and the areas around them are tidied regularly.

There is no ";production line"; of weddings, as I've read on here. The most that happened on one day when we were there was three and the wedding arches are in various places around the grounds. Basically you can get married anywhere you want

The food at Rendezvous is out of this world! There's a different theme every night in the Terrace Restaurant and the Beach BBQ was our favourite. I'm a very strict vegetarian but I never went hungry as there were always plenty meat and fish-free dishes to choose from. There is the odd small cat wandering around the Terrace but nobody minds as you hardly notice them. They're very well behaved!

The restaurant staff are very friendly and make an effort to get to know you, no matter how short a time you may be there, as do the bar staff. The staff throughout the hotel are very welcoming and happy to please without it seeming forced and will always say hello as they see you around the complex. They do appear to work very long hours and late in to the night but they're always very cheery, particularly Neema, Giselle and Deano who are responsible for most of the entertainment and activities.

There are security guards on the beach 24/7 and they make sure that the beach vendors don't approach you whilst you're lounging. We were quite happy to leave our bags containg camcorders, cash and the like on the beach while we went for lunch as they were always in sight of the guards. The beach is a public one and becomes busy on a sunday but you certainly don't feel as though the locals have taken over. They play cricket and football further down the beach and are quite happy for you to join them.

If you plan to try Scuba diving whilst there, I suggest you book in pretty much as you get there. It's very popular and as soon as you're certified you can join them on most dives.

If you venture in to Castries, the market is the best place to buy souvenirs but be warned - it is well over 100 degrees inside it. The vendors do also tend to be rather pushy but a polite but firm ";no thankyou"; is accepted. Try not to let any of them put jewellery on you as you've as good as bought it by then! They're all open to bartering but don't insult them. They also tend to work in $US rather than ECD. We took ECDs with us but will take US next time as it saves a lot of hassle and confusion.

If you're venturing further, we would recommend hiring a taxi for a day, especially if there's more than two of you. We paid about £80 between four of us and were taken everywhere between Castries and Soufriere for most of the day. It worked out much cheaper than the organised tours and you get to see the real St Lucia and find out a lot more about local life. We hired a very nice driver called Elias who can usually be found at the hotel entrance. He told us all about the banana industry and basically answered all of our questions about St Lucia, something you probably wouldn't get if on a guided tour. If Elias isn't outside, the concierge at the entrance will call him for you. Tell him Gary the English taxi driver recommended him to you!!

Something to be aware of when visiting the tourist attractions such as the Sulphur Springs is that although you pay an admission fee, it seems you aren't allowed to walk around with out an official guide who advises you that you can pay them at your ";discretion";. If you choose not to pay them, they can get a little huffy!

I find it hard to believe that there is another hotel as beautiful and as friendly as Rendezvous on St Lucia and when we return (which we've already decided!) we won't even consider looking anywhere else.

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday in this resort. On arrival we were greeted with cool towels and a rum punch - a nice touch - and shown almost immediately to our room.(Tipping is discouraged by the management, by the way, and it's worth knowing this before you get there as the bus driver happily accepted tips which apparently they are not supposed to do).

We had been upgraded to a Verandah Suite (It was our Silver wedding anniversary) which was really beautiful. The room was typically Caribbean in decor (vibrant colours and not everything matching!) It gave us a flavour of the whole island really, but it was very clean and very, very spacious. The bathroom was very large and bright with lots of natural light.

The restaurants (both Terrace and Trysting place) are first class. The weather was VERY hot when we were there and we ate most nights in the Trysting Place which is air conditioned (you will have to book ahead for this)but the terrace restaurant had a different theme every night and always looked amazing.

The staff are very helpful and my only criticism of them would be that they very rarely smile, many of them live quite poorly (the journey from the airport takes you through some VERY poor areas), so maybe they don't have much to smile about. The beach is idyllic and although the hotel was full when we were there, it was never busy. The mosquitos are persistent tho and not all repellants work. Ask at the hotel and they will recommend one. Castries is very close by but is purely commercial and not too pleasant a place. The market is good fun but mostly just sells tat. Taxis are cheap and very helpful.

St Lucia is a lovely island for a romantic holiday. We would recommend it and expecially this resort.

Have just returned from a weeks stay at the Rendezvous hotel where we had a great time. We stayed in a garden room which was lovely - large and well furnished, spotlessly clean, good airconditioning, lovely balcony overlooking tropical gardens and pool.

This is a lovely hotel which has a very special laid back and charming atmosphere. All the hotel staff are friendly and give a first class service. The food is excellent in the main restaurant and also in the Trystings restaurant where we ate 3 times.

The hotel was full when we were there but it was not crowded, there were plenty of sun beds and room by the pools or on the beach. Watersports readily available - no queues. Massage treatments excellent.

There were a wide age range of guests stopping at the hotel and a variety of nationalities - UK, American, Canadian. It was especially notable how friendly all the guests were. We saw about 4 weddings while we were there and it seems a lovely place to get married or like us celebrate an anniversary.

We hired a jeep for 2 days to explore the island and also went on a snorkling trip and a sunset cruise on the brig unicorn.

Visited the sister hotel Le Sport for the afternoon which is very swish but, for us, lacked the charm and atmosphere of Rendezvous.

This was our seventh trip to the Caribean and this is the nicest hotel so far - would love to go back.

We had an absolutley fab time at Rendezvous we got married there in December 2004 and the staff were brilliant they took all the hassle and worry out of the wedding , nothing was a problem. As a travel agent I have booked many weddings in the caribbean and med , but this was beyond my expectations,

the Trysting place restraunt, Superb! the main restraunt food fantastic! The atmosphere was laid back you can join in or relax , no pressure true caribbean style, I have read one review which a couple thought it did not live up to their expectations which is a shame. The weddings are a max of 3 per day which is far less than most resorts (some in dominican republic up to 10 per day even so called 5 star resorts) If like me and my now husband you are travelling just the two of you to get married the coordinators even help you into your dress!!, They provide witnesses for you but i'm sure like we did you will find a wonderful couple to be your guests as the atmosphere of friendship and true caribbean relaxation from the staff, entertainments team and surrounding exotic gardens really envelop you from the start.

I have booked several weddings here since and would not hesitate is recommending it to anyone. A must to try is the piano bar the guy is amazing its never too busy but he will play as you sit and drink and chat to your new found friends.

All in all a wonderful experience, I would love to be their on our 10th anniversary i'm sure the service will not have changed

We booked this holiday on the comments and remarks found on this site.

This was our honeymoon so we really wanted to be sure we got the perfect romantic setting, however I have to say we are both not of the same opinion of the majority of the reviews here. Yes the hotel was clean and the surroundings nice, but it really wasn't the 'Escape for the Romantics' as advertised.

We found the hotel to be too busy, eating on the terrace restauarant, the tables were crammed together - hardly the atmosphere for an intimate dinner. The Trysting Place was exceptional though and the hightlight of our holiday. The sporting facilities here were probably excellent (we did not book this holiday to partake in any sports) - and again we felt that this took away from the romantic and secluded holiday promised. We found even around the pools for it to be busy and really quite loud, sorry but it did seem to be full of very loud Americans !

As for the people getting married there, wow it really was like a conveyor belt, maybe the couples did feel special, but on our 2 week stay there was on average 4 weddings a day !!! Our room was pretty basic and when we asked for an upgrade 6 weeks prior to our holiday we were told they were full, however we later found out that several people had upgraded on arrival to the hotel - so we were a bit disappointed as it was our honeymoon.

The journey to and from the hotel is a bit of a rollercoaster ! - not for the faint hearted !! Yes this holiday was good, the hotel was clean, food was good, weather was topsy turvy - however it just was not as good as we were expecting having read all the other great reviews.

This is the perfect honeymoon destination, we are both '2nd timers' so we needed a resort dedicated to honeymoon couples or those married in the resort and rendezvous did not let us down.
The staff were brilliant and could not do enough for you, Gaston at reception even used his own email address to send a message home (there is internet available but you need a hotmail account)

We received a free upgrade to Ocean View Room and it was bright, clean and airy with a large bathroom. We walked straight from the room onto the beach - fantastic- our room was opposite the Beach Wedding Arch and saw many weddings there.

There are 2 restaurants and both have plenty of good quality food and wine to choose from. The Trysting Place restaurant is absolute quality and requires booking in advance (you can book up to 3 dates at one time). The service there is second to none and very personal.
The piano bar is a nice place to sit for a couple of drinks (or more if you wish it wont close until last guest leaves!) Its air con definitely helps!

There are plenty of free water sports to try and 2 excellent Scuba Dive instructors, who are very professional.
The planes from the nearby airport are barely noticable and don't spoil the fun.
We met lots of lovely people there, its mostly British with some US and Canadians making up the numbers. We ended up as witnesses to Jamie and Katie's (from Consett)wedding 1 hour before we left to go home!
If you go to the market in Castries take Mosquito repellant! The locals there are all very friendly and place no pressure to buy anything (unlike Tunisia!).

I could go on forever praising this resort,Rendezvous is a brilliant resort if you get the chance to go, please do you won't be disappointed it has everything a honeymoon or local wedding needs -SUPERB!

From the moment you arrive at the Rendezvous you are made to feel very special.

The staff are genuinely helpful and friendly all day, every day. We stayed in a Seaside suite which was very spacious, the bathroom was huge with his'n'hers sinks. The nicest touch was the midi CD system in each room. Remember to take your choice of CD's with you. Amazing how listening to 'your' music relaxes you even more. The plug sockets are 110/220 Voltage - so no need to take an adaptor with you - my hair straighteners worked a treat!! All rooms have very nice big four poster beds with draped mosquito nets. The gardens are amazing and there are always gardeners tending to the flower beds. The are two person hammocks dotted around in secluded areas in the garden, great for having some time together on your own in beautiful surroundings.

The hotel was full when we were there but it never felt like there was too many people around. The scuba centre is fantastic, the married couple that run it are so knowledgeable and professional at all times, definitely worth trying the free try a dive if you have never done scuba before.

Eating at the hotel with delight your taste buds - the Trysting Place is very elegant dining serving a la carte food. The Terrace restaurant serves buffet style food with a huge choice and themed nights so you don't end up having the same thing day in, day out!! Afternoon tea is served daily on the Terrace - go there to catch the most beautiful sunsets.

Weddings at this hotel are not 'factory line' ones. There are not loads each day and each wedding seemed to be indiviudally tailored. You can get married on the beach or in the gardens - both fantastic photo opportunities.
We were both amazed at the age range of guests at the hotel. There were newlyweds there (about 25ish) and couples celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, everyone just seemed to mix really well. This hotel is great for getting with the man (or woman) of your dreams and rekindling what you had when you met. You can do as much or as little as you like whilst there. The sports were fantastic and tuition was spot on.

We are so glad that the Rendezvous was our choice of hotel, we will definitely go back and cannot stop telling people exactly how amazing it really is.
