Not a cheap place to stay but well worth the money.
Paul and Christiane, the owners for the wondreful self-catering cottages and BandB do everyting posible to make your stay great, to the extent of bringing us fresh eggs form their hend and fesh fish cuaght ofrom their boat!
The Dower Cotttage was briliant with every modern convenience and even things like dish washer tablets, loo paper etc laid on. A rela hoem form home, very comfortabel with plenty of space for the 6 of us.
There is a sand pit, football net and badminton net provided with all the balls, spades and otehr kit the kids need to keep busy. theera re also bike sot borrow and a barbecue at no ectra cost.
The farm is located in a very rural setting (so you do need a car). But it is a good base for either beaches or the many intersting and enjoyable place sof interest in the Island.
We visited Elizabeth castle (be there for noon to experience the Master Gunner drillign the men), Mount Orguiel Castel (where there is dressing up for the younger children), the super Maritime Museam - with loads of hands on activities and experiences for all ages - very well worth goign to even if you'r enot into the sea!). Hampden House was less exciting. But it woudl ahve save dus money to geta combined ticket for the main sites.
Jerseye Zoo, which is 5 minutes from the farm, is a must see. There are talks every hour and a meet the snake experience. There is more to see than you get round in one day. Nice cafeteria but watch out for the
seagulls if you eat outside - they are very quick to swoop on any unattended food or drink as one German family found out when we were there!
The Co-op on the route from the airport to to farm is good, especially for fresh fish and deli items but the Safeway on the outskirts of St helier is better for drinks and grocery items. The market and fish market in St Helier are good if you like quality fresh or specilist produce.
St Helier is full of shops but parking is limited (you need to buy parking permit tickets from newsagents before parking, and times are very limited.) We went in by bus one day but as they are not very frequent you need to plan well to use public transport.
Eating out - the best meal we had was at the Garden restaurant on the site of the Jersey pottery (Gorey). A superb fish menu at good prices and the best kids menu we've seen anywhere in the world. There is even a mini fruit-de-mer on the kids menu! Afterwards out children had fun painting pottery inside.
The Doplhin on Gorey harbour does a vast range of food from sandwiches through to Portuguese speciality dishes.
One thing to remeber however is that most places seem to shut at about 2.15 or 2.30 so get in early for lunch.
