We stayed in the Garden Wing, which boasted a separate check-in. In reality there was a desk in the corridor just outside the elevators. The room was seriously in need of renovation, especially the bathroom. Bed linen was clean but had many holes in it.
No info in the room as to where the restaurants were, timings etc. We eventually found the breakfast place on the first morning, waited ages to be seated, were walked around the whole dining area before the waitress spotted a table, then she looked at her watch and said 'you'll have to hurry up, breakfast finishes in 10 minutes' - so we walked out. Concierge unwilling to help with flight changes. Common areas in the hotel, such as main reception and lounges were beautiful. Got the feeling we were definately the poor relations staying in the Garden Wing; it even had its own entrance, like they didnt want you mixing!! I would not come back here, even if it was for a free stay. We cut our stay short by 3 days.
On a more positive note, Clarke Quay was a brilliant place to eat/drink but very western, you could be forgiven for thinking you were in London or Barcelona. Singapore Slings in Raffles is a must! Sentosa island is worth a visit, esp the shark dive at Underwater World. 3 days (according to all the taxi drivers) is long enough for anyone to stay in Singapore.

We spent 3 days in Singapore in October '04 as a stopover on route to Australia. When we arrived I could not believe how beautiful Singapore was. The whole place is absolutely pristine with lovely tropical plants etc. The people were so friendly infact the most friendly we met anywhere on holiday (we went on to Sydney, Cairns then Hong Kong).
The hotel was also the best we stayed in it was just amazing and in a beautiful location. Sentosa Island really is like paradise, white sand, palm trees, pink dolphins, wild peacocks etc. The staff at the hotel really could not do enough for us, they were polite and helpful, always smiling and very welcoming. Our rooms overlooked the beach, the view was fantastic. They were spacious and clean and the air conditioning was very good agains some hotels I've stayed in (really cold.) While in Singapore we visited Raffles Hotel for the ";Sling";, I would highly recommend this. Orchards Street for shopping is also worth a visit. We also did a city tour by night which is really good to see Singapore all litup.
The weather in Singapore is hot and very humid (luckily we didnt get any rain.) The food was fantastic, especially in China town. The best food we ate was the street food its really cheap Infact I do not have a bad word to say about Singapore and cant wait to go back again.
