This town is something what I really wonted to see. You can really feel the rithm and atmosphere of the past. Nature is very beautifull and you can really enjoy it. There are some things of which you have to be aware of when going to Dubrovnik. There are not so many places to go out tonight. There are lots of bars, pubs... but I there are not so many clubs to go. I was lucky that I was introduced to the night life by a local person, so I sow some places which you can not find as a tourist.

"nice surprise"

This accommodation was a surprisingly good, especially because the pictures on the web were a bit blury. I would recommend this accomodation because it is newly reconstructed and designed. I was pleased with a stylish decorations. It is centrally located inside the old town and you can feel the atmosphere of this medieval town even inside the house. Even the fact that there is a pizzeria on the ground floor did not bothered me, because it is closed before midnight so I did not have any sleaping problems. Service was good, and they were always there when I needed some help. I even become a friend with a son of the owner who showed me the night life of the town.

Town is something what you have to see. Baches are very nice and sea is very clean. Only thing which we had to take care is where to eat. We choosed some recommended restaurants which are not very touristc so we avoided touristic traps.

"very good location"

This accomodation was something really refreshing. Stylish apartment was a nice surprise after some other accomodation on our trip to Croatia. Kind stuff was doing everything to help us while we were there.

If you are looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday this is the place to come. We have no children and we are in our mid 40's and enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the island. Its not the place to take children as its so quiet and I think that they could be bored. The food was ok a bit bland, could have done with a bit more flavouring but I was grateful of someone cooking and washing up for a change!! The sea is rocky and you will need the rubber soled shoes as the sea erchines are painful. The pool is very small. Walks about the island are plentiful and you get some great views from the look out point and other places. The sandy beach on the other side of the island is great but a bit of a walk, take a buggy aleast one way its an experience not to be missed. Trips to the main land are easy the ferry is very cheap and relaxing. The old city of Dubrovnic is not to be missed but get there eary to miss the crowds. We took the 6am ferry had breakfast and took the walk along the walls at 8am before the sun is too hot and full of Americans from the cruise ships. Not too many insects but take repellent with you as the couple of shops on the island do not sell much apart from gifts, postcards extra. The rooms at the hotel we clean and comfortable, we had a problem with the shower in the room above leaking but was immediately fixed after a phone call to reception. The staff at the hotel seem standoffish at first but I think they are a reserved people as the war is still in the back of there minds. We found that if you are friendly and try a few simple words it makes them a bit warmer. The entertainment at the hotel was average. A bit noisy in the bar. The bar is large enough but not with the entertainment as well. The hotel is also being done up, new windows in the reception and lots of other things planned, this is all being done when the hotel is closed in the winter,so don't worry. Take Croatian Kuna not euros as Thomson advised, although at the airport they quote in euros. So if your looking to recharge your batteries this is the place for you.

The hotel Laodia sits on the Island of Lopud, 7km from Dubrovnik. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly. The package was all inclusive. The meals were horrendous, bland and repetitive. Breakfast was the same for the full 14 days. There was a high proportion of French guests which may explain the frogs leg stew, although the frech stayed away from it. By all means stay at the Lafodia but dont go for a package which includes meals or you will eat out as we did.

Hotel Meteor is an excellent hotel. It is very clean ,well run and maintained by an impressive staff. The food was also excellent, very hot and plenty of it.The hotel was probably the quietest that we have stayed in during the night , no doors banging and quiet air conditioning in our room. The hotel is more than suitable for couples and families and I would certainly recommend it. I would also recommend Balkan Holidays for a great holiday.

Sept.08 stayed at Laguna Gran Vista, great hotel cant complain about the hotel or staff. We went with Cosmos, never saw a rep, had no welcome pack, no welcome meeting and very disappointment with Cosmos altogether. We were given a piece of paper on the Monday to say our meeting was on the Saturday (which had obviously gone). Never saw a rep to organise trips or anything else, totally disgusted with Cosmos as a whole. The Germans, Italians, Russians etc. all had reps.so it made you think because you were British they couldnt care less about you.

I'm 18 and I went on holiday at the end of June this year to this hotel with a friend and my parents. All the staff and the entertainers were lovely, rooms were all nice due to the sea views and fantastic cleanliness and the pool area and location of the hotel were also ideal. The only complaints I had was the music played by the pool (which was quite frankly rubbish and quite annoying - I should imagine older people certainly didn't enjoy it - was appropriate for the pool aerobics but apart from that it wasn't necessary) and the lack of nightlife in Cavtat. My Thomson brochure had said there were some bars and nightclubs in walking distance. There are no nightclubs (you might prefer this!) but as two 18 year olds we wanted a bit more than tavernas. However, there is a boat to Dubrovnik, but this stops running at 10pm - fairly early. Apart from teh couple of niggles it was a lovely holiday. Cavtats beautiful and I would recommend it. If you fancy nightlife though, stay closer to Dubrovniks centre.

Firstly, croatia is a very beautiful country with plenty to see and do. Cavtat is a pretty little town with a harbour which attracts some fabulous yachts. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, we found the best to be dalmacija and galija, which are at opposite ends of the promenade. The two biggest let-downs, however were (1) the lack of a proper beach; and (2) the miserable locals! There are no beaches in cavtat or dubrovnik. What the croatians describe as 'beach' is a concrete hardstanding or rocks with 'swimming pool' steps to climb down into the sea. There is no sand or shingle. There are no public swimming pools. I don't know whether the rest of the country is the same, however. The croatians themselves do not appear to like tourists - whether this applies only to british tourists or whether they treat all foreigners in the same way, I don't know. Overall, the weather was glorious, dubrovnik stunning (though crowded, but it was peak season) but unfortunately it's a case of "been there, done that, didn't buy the t-shirt and certainly won't be going back for it!" If beaches don't figure highly on your holiday wish-list, then croatia would be a great place for you - culture galore, gorgeous scenery and great walks. Otherwise, I'd give it a wide berth.

We rented a private apartment via www.Villarenters.Com , which could not be faulted. The owner was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for her. She provided a light meal on our arrival and during our two-week stay cooked a typical croatian dinner for ...

We rented a private apartment via www.Villarenters.Com , which could not be faulted. The owner was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for her. She provided a light meal on our arrival and during our two-week stay cooked a typical croatian dinner for us. The apartment was away from the centre of the resort, up a fairly steep hill but we soon got used to it. One of our party was 67 years old and she managed it with no problem.

Just got back from Hotel Croatia. First thing I will say is that Hotel and Cavtat are lovely. The thing that let this place down are the high cost of drinks in the bar which had a knock on effect on the atmosphere. Most brits took the short walk 15mins down to the village. It is not the best for 10 - 12 year old boys, not much for the to do. Don,t be worried about the steps, there are a lot but you get use to them. To go the Dubrovnik was the reason we chose this Hotel. The Old town is great. Come out of the old town to the new bit was a very big disappointment, dirty etc. Cost Tourist bus from hotel 20Kn P/P 1 way or boat from Cavtat harbour 200Kn for 2adults/1Child. Both 30-40mins and great. Went to Hotel Eden Rovinj last year and will more than likely go back there next year as we as a family loved everything about it. Would we go back, not as a family with a youngster.
