brac is beautiful, just a shame it took quite a while to get back to the airport. the rocky beaches are nice, and there is some beautiful coastline

Fantastic town! The old walls are remarkable. So many little alleys to amble round, and pleasant little shops and cafes. The seafront is also nice, but very busy!

Magical by night, stunning by day. A lot of steps involved in walking the old city walls but a must do and see.

Great resort would go to different beaches will go back but better apartment! might do from split to dubrovnik next time as ferries are so cheap and you need not book anything, just as and when.

Makarska Riviera review
"Pretty and picturesque"
resort to a friend
A very pretty, old town with a lovely harbour. The place is litter free and kept immaculately clean. No signs of any trouble while we were there and we didn't see a policeman or a patrol car. Beach is shingle and the sea is crystal clear. Plenty of places to eat but they all seem to serve the same food to varying degrees of variety, quality and price. A main meal for two with drinks averaged about £20. People in shops, supermarkets and restaurants can be abrupt, rude and surly. And if they are happy in their work they ought to let their faces know. However, full marks to the Romana coffee house and the XXL Pizzeria and Restaurant (on the souvenir market) who served decent fare at reasonable prices and the staff were always pleasant and welcoming.

Not very impressed. Pretty scenery but little to see and do..............doesn't seem to have moved in to the 21st century.

Ok if you want a quiet evening stroll not many shops but a nice marina at the end of the promenade walk with plenty of nice restaurants.

Too quiet, not enough to do especially for families. There is one small row of shops and a few restaurants down a very steep hill from the hotel but nothing else. No beaches to sunbathe on either.

I really like the resort, and many of the old buildings seem intact. There are some lovely shops and restaurants around the port area. I also recommend a day trip to Venice or Pula for something different.

We have just returned from Hotel Park in Rovinj and enjoyed one of our best holidays: 1. Weather was glorious; 34 degrees most days with only ½ day rain and a spectacular thunderstorm one night. 2. Wonderful Croatians who are very friendly and helpful. 3. Location is fantastic - although if you want a sandy beach then it's not for you. 4. Rovinj was very clean. 5. Ablilty to take a boeat trip to Venice for £56 was a real bonus – it was expensive but well worth while. - To keep costs down we didn't need to take the water taxi to St Mark’s Square; one of the guide’s did walk there with a group in the same time. - We did negotiate a Gondola cheaper than the on-boat price of 25 Euros per person. - We thought the water taxi back was well worth the 25 Euros.

Porec is a pretty town with a very relaxed feel. If you wander around the town centre, you are spoilt for choice of restaurants and cafes which are perfect for watching the world go by. The old town is a must, lots of old streets with cute little shops. Look out for the amazing ice cream parlours! The Bell Tower is the focal point of the town and is well worth a visit up the tower to enjoy views over the town. There's aren't too many steps, and it's not expensive. Along the seafront are lots of market stalls, good for a bit of knick knack shopping. Overall, a nice resort and great for those who don't want to travel too far, but fancy a change from the 'usual' European holiday destinations.

Just got back from Dubrovnik with my partner and we absolutely loved it. It is so hostoric, beautiful harbour walls and medieval town. There are some lovely bars, especially aroud the port. The beaches are nothing special, but so long as you have a pool you will be able to cool off.

Porec itself was spotless, some great walks, watersports, hire bikes, a noddy train (around £1) to take you to the old town 10 mins or lovely walk 25 mins all flat no hills or steps, walk on sea front or through the trees ,we felt very safe day and night as did everyone we spoke to. Very limited shops and bars near the hotel but plenty in the old town. The sea front is more like a promenade no beach has steps into the sea, plenty of sun lounges, places to eat but not overcrowded with hotels appartments and bars. All in all a very unspoiled country. We were told by our tour operator that we could easily have a day trip to Dubrovnik, wrong information, it was a coach to airport, flight, another coach and back again. Driving would take around 12hrs plus you needed special insurance to get you through the small strip of Bosnia which no company would give. Coach travellers touring manage to drive through ok. There was not many english speaking guests but we met Vinnie & Mary , Ann & Dave, we swopped stories, had a good laugh but we also managed to communicate with many other guests from many countries. Limited english cigarettes but other makes very cheap as was alcohol, duty free on return again limited but cheap,. prices in euro but staff willing to convert no problem.
