Buza cafe is a a great place to hang our while in Dubrovnik! It is very difficult to explain how to get there without getting lost. It is on the outer side of the Old Town walls facing Italy. The best way to get there is to go behind the Church of St. Blaise and to keep walking past Hemingway bar, past the Cathedral, then pick a little side street and walk towards the wall facing the Adriatic sea and Italy. When you hit the wall keep walking along it until you reach a door. At this point, you can go left or right, and either way will take you to one of the two Buza bars- slightly different spots, no food, great views either way.
There is a sign saying "Cold Drinks," and that is where you want to go. Go during the day so you see where it is, and then go at night. There are usually a lot of people, including lots of tourists, backpackers, and locals both day and night. You can also go swimming here (no real beach to speak of though). Walking along the Old Town walls along the sea you will spot this cafe.

This region in Croatia is just beautiful. I can't wait to go back and relax on the endless white beaches. The nightlife is brillant, lively and beer and food good value. You can either relax and enjoy the views at nightime or go to a nightclub for a livelier evening. Kastel is a one of seven old villages that stretch between Split and Trogir. Trogir is definitely worth a visit - lovely little shops, and plently of things to do and see here, including the old fort. I think Kastel is and excellent base for exploring Split and Trogir.

Great sites, beautiful old buildings, very friendly people, great weather, and more. The only negative I can think of is the aggressiveness of some of the waiters at the many restaurants. Be sure to walk the wall, visit the Cafe on the outside wall hanging over the sea, tour the monastery, eat at as many different restaurants as possible, and be a people watcher at the great sidewalk cafes. We took a day long boat trip to 3 islands and they were absolutely enchanting. The boat trip was $50 per person including wine, lunch and a light dinner. The boat trip itself was fun with lots of great sights traveling north along the coast. The village at each island was all I had expected. It could not have been a better vacation and we'll return to Old Town again. By the way, their prices have caught up with the rest of Europe. Don't expect any great bargains but you can expect a very good stay.

Trogir is a UNESCO site, so is full of history and interesting places to visit. It is a beautiful town to wander around, the small streets and has a great selection of shops, for that all essential holiday gift. The restaurants offer great value for money, with a great selection of seafood. The bars offer lively entertainment in the evenings. During the day, catch the boat/ferry/watertaxi to the beach at Hotel Medina, here you will find a wonderful long stoney beach. With a bar for refreshments and cafes.

"Wonderful Island, Shame about the food"

We went to Lopud for the last two weeks of the season so there was no nightlife and the weather was not good enough to sunbath. The island is stunningly beautiful with no cars. If youm are looking for a totslly re;axing destination then you would not go far wrong in choosing Lopud

Dubrovnik review
"Island of Mljet, Hotel Odisej "
resort to a friend
Mljet is a beautiful island. Very rugged coastline, so no beaches to speak of but there are plenty of locations to lie under olive trees around the 2 fantastic saltwater lakes just a short walk from the hotel in Pomena in the national forest end of the island. Pomena is very quiet (we went in August) as is the rest of the island. It's a bit of a millionaire's playground; lots of very expensive boats in the little harbour and, to some extent this is reflected in the cost of the meals in some of the small number of restaurants, but the prices weren't that bad. Our cheapest meal - pizza and beer, came out to around £15 between the two of us, and the most expensive was £50 which included house wine and only one of us eating fish, the other ate pasta. Try the restaurant furthest from the hotel; Konoba "Barba Ive", the food is excellent, the house wine is very good and the service is also very good. Like everywhere on the island, the choice is fish or meat and not a lot of choice for the veggies, but at Barba Ive the fish is great and comes with vegetables so that it is a meal - try their fish stew (but they need 2-3 hours notice) it's an experience!
Beware, the car hire just outside the hotel in Pomena has some dodgy vehicles; we hired a very basic Fiat and didn't expect much, but the thing gulped the fuel, stunk of petrol in the cab and stuck in gear when you eventually got it to stop! One morning we saw the agent rent out a car that had a rear wheel seized - they eventually got it to rotate by bumping the car up and down a curb!
We had a wonderful time, relaxing under the olive trees, reading and swimming; very few people around and gloriously hot - a real chill-out zone if ever there was one.

Firstly, croatia is a very beautiful country with plenty to see and do. Cavtat is a pretty little town with a harbour which attracts some fabulous yachts. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, we found the best to be dalmacija and galija, which are at opposite ends of the promenade. The two biggest let-downs, however were (1) the lack of a proper beach; and (2) the miserable locals! There are no beaches in cavtat or dubrovnik. What the croatians describe as 'beach' is a concrete hardstanding or rocks with 'swimming pool' steps to climb down into the sea. There is no sand or shingle. There are no public swimming pools. I don't know whether the rest of the country is the same, however. The croatians themselves do not appear to like tourists - whether this applies only to british tourists or whether they treat all foreigners in the same way, I don't know. Overall, the weather was glorious, dubrovnik stunning (though crowded, but it was peak season) but unfortunately it's a case of "been there, done that, didn't buy the t-shirt and certainly won't be going back for it!" If beaches don't figure highly on your holiday wish-list, then croatia would be a great place for you - culture galore, gorgeous scenery and great walks. Otherwise, I'd give it a wide berth.

"Something what you have to see"

Town is something what you have to see. Baches are very nice and sea is very clean. Only thing which we had to take care is where to eat. We choosed some recommended restaurants which are not very touristc so we avoided touristic traps.

This town is something what I really wonted to see. You can really feel the rithm and atmosphere of the past. Nature is very beautifull and you can really enjoy it. There are some things of which you have to be aware of when going to Dubrovnik. There are not so many places to go out tonight. There are lots of bars, pubs... but I there are not so many clubs to go. I was lucky that I was introduced to the night life by a local person, so I sow some places which you can not find as a tourist.

Kids had great fun playing beach volleyball, football, paragliding and on the banana boats. Beachside restaurants provided excellent food, with plenty of variaty and very well priced. Lovely walk along the beach promenade to Trogir - a beautiful town with cobbled streets and no cars! Wonderfull harbour and some good shopping!

A most beautiful city at the southern tip of Croatia. The walled old city is a must. The history, the people and the views make this a must see experience. The views from the walls, for which a small entrance fee is payable for their upkeep, is just magical. Try avoiding the busy lunchtime period and aslo things do get crowded when cruise ships are in port. When we were there 4 ships must have disembarked in excess of 6000 extra people. Outside of the old city the Lapad area offers a number of fine beaches, shaded with pine trees, the shallow waters making bathing ideal for the young.
