Croatia is a beautiful country. Brella is a very small fishing village. The Hotel is set in very nice settings. But there were a few details that should be known.

Most of the hotels including the Marina is set up high off the coastline. There are many steps to climb down and then up again. People with walking dificulties would find this a hard task. Once you get down to the beach, there is nothing there but the sea. The Village consists of a few bars. If you want to go to the nearest propper resort (Baska Voda) This is a long walk away or you can get the school bus, but if you miss the 07.30am bus the next one is 13.30pm. If you want to go to the main bust stop this is a mammoth task. It is about a 5 mile hike up a very steep winding road. and once again when you return, its a steep road to walk back down which you may think is easy. It is NOT. The hotel should provide a shuttle for this trip. We booked a Taxi the 2nd time we wanted to find some life. The taxi fare to the bustop was £5.00.

We booked a double room. What we got was 2 single beds pushed together with 2 seperate covers? That is a twin room to us, but we were told no its a double because the beds are together.
There was nothing to do in the evenings as there was no entertainment in the hotel. We was told it was because it is out of season, Well OK but if its out of season, then why is the hotel still taking money from the tourists to go there? (and it was not even a cheap deal)

There was a definate difference to the way the Germans were treated as apposed to the British.

If you want to go to a beautifull country then Croatia is just that. But if you dont want to go to bed at 9 pm through boredom then maybe you should think again.

This was a great place to go for our first holiday abroad together.I felt very safe in Croatia, Thomas Cook were very good and our rep supplied her mobile number on which she could be contacted 24hrs per day.

We went on excursuions to Krka Waterfalls, Omis and Dubronik, all really good, long days out. Excursions were operated by Kompass which had excellent tour guides and were very organised.

Hotel Marina was very clean and the food in the hotel was very nice. The hotel staff were very considerate, but be warned they do clean the rooms every morning and we saw some maids knocking on guests doors at 9.00am!

This was a very relaxing holiday but if its night life your looking for then this is not the place to go.

The beach was gorgeous but we went mid-August and we had to walk a good 30mins on the beach to get a good spot.

A fantastic holiday,a week just didn't seem long enough to explore this fantastic country. We will definately be re-visiting.

Croatia was a real revelation.
Lovely hotel in a prime spot set in pine trees, lots of squirrels and birds around.
Brela is a beautiful place, stunning pebble beach and blue crystal clear water with a mountain backdrop. Very relaxing holiday don't go if you are expecting loud music and action!
Chioce of food in the hotel was limited but was always very tasty and hot. The standard of cleanliness was brilliant and the maids were unobtrusive.
Almost no shops to waste money in (bliss) and if you have kids there is no distractions ie. McDonalds etc.

We went to Dubrovnic which is a special place well worth the 4 hour bus ride, the coastal road scenery in spectacular and you have the novelty of travelling through Bosnia!
We also tried a boat trip to 2 islands (Hvar and Bol) booked from a German lady near the harbour, the cost was £18.00 approx and took 9 hours! A bargain and an opportunity to view the areas stunning backdrop from a distance.

All in all a fantastic holiday.

Brela is beautiful. Not full of young party goers so if this is your scene, Baska Voda just up the coast is more for you. The ocean is crystal clear and some of the best snorkelling to be had so if you have them, bring your snorkle and mask, or you can pick up poor quality sets all over the place where you are there. Always wear foot protection as there are sea urchins everywhere, even in close to the beach.

Hotel excellent, but loads of steps to the beach so it will have you fit!

If you want to sit and sunbathe all day then this is the holiday for you but we felt unless you spoke German then you were at a distinct disadvantage as English is not widely known well enough to have a good interaction. We got very tired saying ";forget about it"; because we just could not make the locals understand our questions and all the good local wildlife information is not to be had in English. We wanted to see the Croatian wildlife and enjoy the seas and mountains but we just didn't know where to look for snakes, mammals etc, and there is no information in English (or english speakers who know) to get any such information. Altogether very dissapointing. We spent 2 thousand euro on this holiday. Never again!

also, we found that the croatian people are not so friendly as everyone would have you believe.
Airline was Air Adriatic and they were a disaster, never again!!!

We will never go back to Croatia.

Beautiful location - but go for 2 weeks minimum. Minicabs are very cheap. Food is cheap and consistently good - in hotel and outside. Main season does not start until 1 June (evening entertainment had not yet started at hotel) Some facilities are provided at hotel next door (outdoor pol etc). Steps from hotel to beach could be problem for some people. Look for the black sqirrels playing in the pine trees. There are small lizards in the rock walls. Wear shoes when swimming. Water is absolutely clear but pebbles (and occasionally a sea urchin (very painful).

Go on the river trip on the Centina river - plus traditional Croatian meal - brilliant. Get a taxi to Split (with 4 in the taxi it is not expensive). Area is safe and people are very friendly. Prosek (a sweet wine) is cheap and nice. Coffee is from 60p to £1. From Brela you can see the island of Brac. Go by taxi for £1 to Mariska and you can get boat trips anywhere.

We really did not want to come home.
