What a wonderful resort Opatija is - truly a place with something for everyone. Although there were very few brits, there were people of all ages from many countries enjoying the sunshine and the superb bathing amenities. Although there is no big sandy beach, the man-made platforms in the resort centre and in every little cove and bay for miles had showers, changing cubicles, cafes and all with stunning views of the Adriatic, the mountains and the islands.
Most of Opatija is built in a very grandiose, Victorian style and Hotel Imperial is typical of this, with its grand staircases, lobbies and a truly magnificent dining room. Single room was small but full of character with a lovely balcony with breathtaking views. Our double/family room was enormous, and all rooms have period furniture and good bathrooms. Food was good - breakfast buffet had everything anyone could conceivable want for breakfast (anda ew other things besides!). Dinner had a great salad buffet and main courses were served, with a choice from 5 or 6 options offered the previous night. All staff very nice, and baby-friendly!
In all a really great holiday in the most beautiful and varied resort we have ever seen, and in a hotel of true charm and style. Ingahms service excellent throughout. Highly recommended.
