"Lovely holiday"

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Hotel Park. We went as an older family for a relaxing holiday. The rooms were very nice, clean and had a fantastic view over the harbour. Air conditioning was supplied. The weather wasn't great for two days including one where there was a thunderstorm. That night however, the hotel put on a Mamma Mia production that was very enjoyable. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool and it was lovely to sunbathe and look over the harbour. The food was delicious, plenty to choose from and waiters very friendly. It is a 15 minute walk into the town, however there is plenty of things to look at during the walk. The town had so much culture and there was so much to see. One of the days we hired out bikes to ride round the nearby National Park along the coast, this was very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing and cultural holiday :)

We have just returned from Hotel Park in Rovinj and enjoyed one of our best holidays: 1. Weather was glorious; 34 degrees most days with only ½ day rain and a spectacular thunderstorm one night. 2. Wonderful Croatians who were very friendly and helpful. 3. Location was fantastic - eating our meals whilst overlooking the stunning view of the harbour, islands and town of Rovinj was a dream. 4. Rovinj and the Hotel were very clean. 5. Hotel Park is a 10 minute walk to first shop on edge of Rovinj. 6. Trip to Venice was expensive but well worth while. - To keep costs down we didn't need to take the water taxi to St Mark’s Square; one of the guide’s did walk there with a group in the same time. - We did negotiate a Gondola cheaper than the on-boat price of 25 Euros per person. - We thought the water taxi back was well worth the 25 Euros. 7. Good choice of food that meant each member of the family had something they liked. 8. Hired a car from Venturer; very professional and helpful service.

The hotel Park was not our choice of hotel,we were moved there by Thomson who for some reason withdrew the hotel Adriatic shortly after we booked and put us in the Park instead.I personally dont like big hotels and this is one, also it was 90% german and the restaurant only catered for them, although if you like chilli con carne and roast veg for breakfast then you might be ok.It is in a lovely location overlooking st. Katerina island and only a couple of mins walk into the town. Also this is a Saga hotel so of cause the average age was over 60s but you wouldnt know that from the volume of the weekly german karioke night.Would we return to the Hotel Park?no but only because its not what we go for but the staff were helpfull and the rep Tatiana couldnt do enough for people and seemed to be there 24 hours a deay.

If you require a very relaxing holiday, then this is for you.
The Hotel is ideally situated just a few minutes walk from Rovinj old town. It overlooks the marina with the harbour to the left.

Our room was spotlessly clean together with the rest of the hotel. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful and could speak english very well.

From the restaurant you could see the marina, harbour and Rovinj town. The whole area was magical as the sun went down.
The food was very good with plenty of choice.
Early breakfasts could be ordered in advance from reception for those on excursions.
There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool. However, the pool was quite cold.

We visited Venice while we were staying in Rovinj. This was definately worth doing, even though it cost around £50 each. However, we didnt like all the pigeons in St Marks Square. During our excursion, we visited the Murino Glass Factory and also paid extra for a meal, gondola and water taxi ride - around £50 each.

We tested the local buses out with visits to Pula and Porec. We found them to be very reliable and extremeley on time.

We would definately return in the future.

The hotel has an amazing view and the option for a sea view room with balcony is worth the extra cash! Its pleasant , clean, well furnished and staff are, mainly friendly and helpful.

Food is disappointing, a little too samey, with fairly limited choices , we wish we had gone BandB and not half board ( more interesting , varied and cheaper) . Rovinj is full of excellent eateries all within easy walking distance of the hotel, as is the entire town. English pre-dominate in the hotel but not in the town it is more pitched to German , Austrian and Italians. Should you want them English papers are expensive (yesterday's issues of The Times at £4.90!)
There are no beaches here, sunbathing is at the hotel pool (towels at dawn is frowned upon but does still happen. We just moved them!) or at the waterside, on the tiny scattered pebbly beaches. The unsung asset of Rovinj is the bike path. The push bikes have no surprises, they are easy to use and cheap to hire and from the hotel there are no roads to navigate just a long purpose built cycle path (easy to ride) which runs parallel to the Adriatic, and skirts the coast way . Its a great choice to give an alternative activity.

Boat trips proliferate: the isles "; rundfahrt"; a 90 minute trip around the islands (with Quo Vadis) is good . The Venice trip was reduced to £39 because we had had poor weather , all looked fine til the journey home. That was a memorably rocky journey and took 3 and a half hours in pouring rain , thunder and lightening. The Prince of Venice trip was with Compass. Dont be put off by Mario's on board tales of lost passengers, a map of Venice isnt that hard to understand. Please dont waste your money on the package lunch , its way over priced at a poor establishment with a unpleasant food and rude staff! The gondola trip is good , (you must do it once?)

This was our 1st time in Croatia, but it will not be the last. Flights from Manchester 1hr 50mins, although took 2hrs 20 mins to fly back, trans to hotel 40mins. excellent journey. Hotel Park although not pretty from the outside is a stunning hotel on the inside. We booked late so had a room at the front of the hotel which faces away from the sea, a sea view room is a must. Bedrooms very clean although on small size but no problem as we didnt spend too muuch time in room. Staff very friendly and helpfull and outside areas kept just as clean as inside. Food was excellent, a great choice every night, hubby very fussy but ate well all week, also cafes on seafront under the hotel great for lunches.

Pool area lovely lots of sunbeds and parasols, animation team good and did not make people join in. The Hotel is a nice 5 mins stroll to old town which has lots of bars and resturants. The bars on the rocks are magical, they are lit up at night and you can have a drink sat on cushions on the waters edge. The church on the top of hill is a must see. We hired bikes and went down the coastal path were there are little bays and pools and cafes to stop for a rest. We had a day trip to Venice this cost 50.00 each which we booked with Atlas which is at the side of the hotel. It was a full day but not to be missed, we bought a water taxi ride while on the boat which took us down the Grand canal, this was the best part of the day.

We really loved Hotel Park and Rovinj.

the town rovinj is absolutley beautiful, many bars and places to eat.the people are very friendly.we took the trip to venice which was amazing (exept for the pigeons)and well worth the money. check prices for trips outside the hotel as they were cheaper and just as good. the hotel was spotlessly clean and staff very good, only downside was food, more or less same menu every day although you could get good food in the outside cafes that are part of the hotel.we were going to book the eden hotel but were really glad we didnt.hotel is in a great location.

on leaving the manager came out to wave us off and thank us for staying there with a box of pastries which was a nice touch, we will definately be going back and staying at the hotel park

We chose the Hotel Park using the comments that had been made on this site and we were not disappointed.

It has the most fantastic location facing the marina in front of the hotel, the harbour to the left and the old town to the far left. Try and book a seaview because it is worth the money. The hotel is advertised as a 3* but I would rate it nearer 4*. I would however say that it is not the most attractive from the outside but inside you couldn't ask for more. It is so clean, as is the whole town. The hotel staff are constantly cleaning, the town appears to be washed down every morning, there is no litter whatsoever and the streets are so clean you could (if you chose to) eat your dinner off the cobbles.

Speaking of cobbles, they are very old and very shiny and therefore can be slippery - just beware, going up the hills of the old town is okay but coming down you must be careful. Food in the hotel is plentiful and varied. I can only speak for our room which was not overly large but not too small either and for the amount of time you spend in it it was perfect. Drinks not badly priced either i.e. £3.30 for a Gin and Tonic but you were paying £1.65 for the gin and £1.65 for the tonic. And that is hotel prices. There is a small supermarket on the front, just below the hotel and you can buy your soft drinks/water there for the same price as you would pay over here.

The resort of Rovinj (pronounced Roveen) is just to die for. It is the prettiest place I ever been to and I would go back there like a shot, very Italian in feel. It was wonderful to walk around the town at night, it was bustling with people of all nationalities and it was lovely. There is so much to see and do in the area - e.g. trips to Venice (£50 each for the whole day but you pay extra if you want to have the organised lunch, gondola ride and water taxi ride). You could organise these yourself and they make work out cheaper but I like things done for me, so I actually spent another £92 on these three things. The lunch was lovely, the gondola ride superb and the water taxi was okay. The trip takes three hours by catamaran (two hours to Venice but then another hour to get into Venice itself). We also did a trip to Lake Bled in Slovenia and we paid just under £50 each for this. Lunch was not included and it was a five hour trip but well worth it for the scenery. It is very Austrian in feel and looks and I fell in love with the area.

Rovinj is still mostly unspoilt and I hope to return very soon.

This was our first visit to Istria and the beautiful Rovinj, hopefully we will be returning soon as it is the most wonderful place to spend a holiday. The old town is full of atmosphere with breath taking views from the Church of St Euphemia. Paths through the wooded parkland lead to pretty bays for safe bathing in the clear sea.

We cannot find any fault with the lovely Hotel Park, it's position means it is an easy walk into the centre of Rovinj but also a pleasant tree lined walk to the bays. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the food cannot be faulted, even for non-meat eaters as there is always a fish or veggie option. The staff are helpful and friendly, as was Collette our excellent Thomson rep.

We took the organised trip to Venice which, although expensive was a great experience. Try taking the water BUS for an economical way of exploring Venice and still seeing all the sights.

In conclusion this was a wonderful holiday that we would thoroughly recommend.

My partner and I have just come back from our first holiday in Croatia, staying at the Hotel Park, Rovinj.Everything was perfect. The staff were wonderful, the food was exceptional, all areas both inside and outside of the hotel were spotlessly clean.perfect location with easy access to all parts of rovinj. Spectacular views of the old town from the pool area, and beautiful views of the harbour if you have a sea view.Rovinj old town, well we just fell in love with the whole place and the people. We visited Pula and Porec on the local buses went on a Fish Picnic round the islands and went to the beautiful Plitvice lakes, which were spectacular. Our Thomson guide was wonderful guiding us with his umbrella,on our trek round the lakes. No it wasn't raining it was scorching hot but if you go, and get the same guide, you'll find out about the umbrella.

We love the place and will be back.Colette our Thomson Rep was very helpful whenever we needed advice.

Hotel Park is the ideal placde to stay in Rovinj. It has stunning views over the Marina and the old town. The sunsets are spectacular. We stayed for a week late September and the weather was ideal. The food is good, plenty of choice, friendly staff and lots of activities if wanted. Cannot comment on the entertainment as that is not our type of thing. The town itself is beautiful with lots of winding streets to explore. Bike and car hire is readily available at a reasonable price and the boat trips are very varied. Whatever your age a trip to the Park is ideal. The rooms are spacious and very clean as is the rest of the hotel.

Hotel Park is in an excellent location and we had no complaints whatsoever. We were unfortunate with the weather as it rained for 4 of the 7 days but we still enjoyed the holiday. We did not go on any organised trips as they appeared to be a lot of travelling involved.

We did however take a public transport bus to Porec. We would not advise other tourist to do this. We purchased our tickets from the office at the bus station. It appeared to be well organised as there was a seat number allocated on the ticket but when the bus arrived the crowd surged on and there was no chance of getting to the seat and we ended up standing.

Porec appeared to be a larger version of Rovinj and we would be happy to have a holiday there. To return to Rovinj from Porec we arrived at the bus station 15.45 which was 30 mins before the bus was due and we were told to buy the ticket on the bus. 30 mins after the due time we enquired at the office to be told 'Traffic!'. The same reply was given 30 mins later. A further 30 mins later I then asked what time the next bus to Rovinj and was informed 21.20. So we had to take a taxi at considarable expense.

Whilst at Rovinj we looked at Hotel Eden, Hotel Istrea and Hotel Katrina they all appeared to be very good but Hotel Park had the best situation.

Can't fault this holiday, except we only stayed for a week - not long enough. Had not been to Istria before and thought we would try it out. We intended to hire a car and look at some of the area, but did not have time!!

The area is delightful. The old town is picturesque and good for wandering around. As has been said by others, the cobbles can be slippery, be careful. Plenty of cafes and restaurants. There is a super atmosphere in the evening with the cafes along the harbour buzzing. No problem with Saturday night drunks here!! We only saw policemen once, in a police car, and they seemed just to be passing through. The people are friendly and most speak Croatian and Italian. Due to the history of the area some don't even speak Croatian!! In addition English is compulsory at school. So usually no problem with the language.

Swimming is from pebble beaches or rocks and the water is lovely and clear. Buy shoes for swimming. Chairs can be hired on the most popular beach to the East of the town - 20 kuna (£2) a day, but usually no umbrellas. Bikes can be hired and are not expensive. Where we hired them we were charged when we came back, so there was no need to guess how long you would be. No deposit, just gave you a padlock. Nice to be trusted.

Red Island and Catherine Island are easily reached from Rovinj on short boat trips. Red island is divided into two by a causeway. One half has the hotel with a pebble bathing beach, plus rock bathing, cafes etc. and the other is mainly naturist. Katherine Island has the up market Katherine Hotel and again has pebble and rock swimming. The Lim Fjord boat trip is pleasant, but the Fjord is really just low forested hills rising from the fjord - not like Norway.

The Park Hotel was excellent. Wonderful position, overlooking the marina, and just a short walk to the harbour and town. We thought it worth while to pay extra for sea view rooms for the wonderful views. The food was good, catering for most tastes with a cosmopolitan client list.

The hotel rooms were of a reasonable size, with air conditioning, a mini-bar, satellite TV and a balcony. The hotel would be awkward for anyone with walking difficulties. The lifts only go down to the reception and dining room level. The swimming pool was two floors below this and there were further steps or a steepish slope to reach the promenade. Whilst we were there the entertainment in the evening was just music on the promenade level. Pleasant to listen to, but no other entertainment.

Flights from Bristol were on time and Pula is a small airport. Ours was the only aircraft there when we returned, should make it more difficult to lose bags!!

We had a great time and expect we will go back, but for longer and we will explore more.
