"split"
Overall Resort Rating:
Diocletian's Palace is simply a "must see" for anyone visiting Split. The Palace itself is not just an historical ruin but is part of the fabric of the city of Split with numerous working businesses within the actual palace walls. Something worth noting I think is the time of day you might consider visiting the palace. With Split a fairly popular tourist destination, the palace often heaves with tourists during the summer months.

"by the sea in croatia"
Overall Resort Rating:
In spite of the renovation to this hotel, it still retains its 1970s, package holiday feel. It is large and has something of a soulless feel to it. Just returned from a brilliant week staying at Hotel Croatia in Cavtat. The hotel was excellent, views all amazing. Cavtat is small, unspoiled and beautiful.

Something worth noting I think is the time of day you might consider visiting the palace. With Split a fairly popular tourist destination, the palace often heaves with tourists during the summer months. We (my wife and I) went in early June and took an overnight ferry from Rijeka to Split which arrived at 6am. Instead of going to our room to nap - we checked our luggage and headed straight for the palace. This turned out to be a great idea because the crowds of tourists didn't start clogging the narrow streets of the palace until later in the morning into the afternoon giving us plenty of early morning time to enjoy the popular attractions like the Mausoleum, the John the Baptist shrine and the basement halls. So if you can manage to go early - do so!

"Split - a good stop-over"
Overall Resort Rating:
We stayed in Split for only one night so it is difficult to give a detailed over view of the area. We arrived late, but the streets were bustling with tourists, exploring the churches & ancient buliding.
Split is very pretty and has a nice harbour area where you can grab a bite to eat while watching the boat moor-in.

"Beautiful"
Overall Resort Rating:
This region in Croatia is just beautiful. I can't wait to go back and relax on the endless white beaches. The nightlife is brillant, lively and beer and food good value. You can either relax and enjoy the views at nightime or go to a nightclub for a livelier evening. Kastel is a one of seven old villages that stretch between Split and Trogir. Trogir is definitely worth a visit - lovely little shops, and plently of things to do and see here, including the old fort. I think Kastel is and excellent base for exploring Split and Trogir.
