Paphos review

"Very expensive more than other EU "

Although some brilliant scenery, at least 3/4 of resort is overpriced. Very expensive. More so than other EU countries. 2.50 Euro for cup tea ranging to 6E per cup. Car hire very expensive. We had car for 5 days at a cost of 85E but they then add on the half tank petrol for another 25E

Paphos review

"Rip off Paphos"

87%
of reviewers would recommend this

We were so disapointed with Paphos is there purely to squeeze money out of tourists, I have never been anywhere else that so blatently tries to rip you off in anyway possible, from going to the supermarkets that the locals use and having to pay nearly £4 for 3 bananas to being charged £2 for a can of fanta in a nick-nack shop, we had to pay these prices because it was the same all over the resort. We talked to tourists who said they would never be back and we talked to brits who have lived there for 20-30 years who said it was the greedy cypriots who would kill the island not the recession..!!!The resort caters for 2 sets of people, the 18-30's on Bar Street and the retired who go out for a meal that lasts all night, there are no pubs that offer any entertainment apart from football matches on Sky tv, there is no effort to make the promenade a nice place to walk and have a drink, all it is is a busy road that young boy racers drive along with their music full blast, the small harbour near the castle is ok but nothing special, the cafe's/restaurants at that end seem to think they can charge anything they want because of their locations, I am not a tight person with my money, I go on holiday abroad with my family once a year and save up to be able to have plenty of money to spend wherever we go but this year for the first time ever I brought money home because I refused to pay their prices on principle, we did eat out but not every night. We hired a car for 3 days which was £70, about the best deal we had all holiday..!! Aphrodite's rock is a must see, the village of Omodos in the mountains is an experience and the ruins at Kourion are exceptional also the mosaics at Paphos are very impressive. If you go to Paphos with the thought in your head "I'm on holiday who cares if I get ripped off" then you will have a good time regardless of what you have just read, Enjoy

If you want to stay here be prepared for an expensive week or 2 after a couple of days you’ll want to hire a car to get around and find somewhere with a bit of atmosphere, there’s almost no beach and it’s very over rated in my honest opinion. If you have a young family there’s even less to occupy them, the shops bars and restaurants are over priced and the taxis are just a complete rip off. Go to Majorca instead.

I would not recommend Paphos, the beaches are not great, food and drink are expensive and the overall feel for the place is not great.

The hotel was good, but the place generally was bad. A mix of relaxation and the urban vibe. Bad food and drink culture but very friendly people.

Nothing to do, dull boring nightlife - myself and my family felt like we were an extra on 'Cocoon!' Too far to walk to the very inadequate shops which sell nothing but tat. The beach is extremely poor - seaweed and rocks, not a sandcastle type holiday. Rowdy tourists - half of them must be from Chatsworth Estate and a close relative of Frank Gallagha. Dont waste your money on the weddings - they are inpersonal, on a conveyor belt and not right for the special occassion, our cousin cried after her wedding, and NOT tears of joy.

Cyprus is very expensive at the moment due to the exchange rate. We found Phapos to be a bit tacky with lots of English type bars. The harbour area is nice but very expensive.

the reps on the street were a real pain in the butt. And in the heat you can do with out that. Very very very expensive, wish we'd gone all inclusive. The food was however very good though. Don't go to KFC it costs an absolute fortune. Roads are manic at all times so do take care. Lovely beaches though. The kings tombs were good.

I felt that there wasnt much to do around Paphos.

Be aware for their GREEN days (bank holidays), everything is closed.

Me and my partner went to do research for wedding. Im glad we didnt arrange anything as there was not many thing to do, especially for children.

Be aware that the food may be cheap, but the drinks are expensive

What we saw of Phaphos was scruffy, tacky and very touristy with English shops. Frankly could be anywhere with little character.

Historically there is a lot to see in Paphos, I just wish the locals would show more attention to their own historical sites. The food is mainly English with some Greek food that is of good quality. Avoid the chinese and Indian restaurants. Tomatoes locally are the best i have ever tasted in The Med!

A bit non descript really. Took the open top bus tour and it was dreadful. Took us past hotels, water park and mini golf. Saw a few historical sites, but not worth the time or money. Just very disappointing really.
