The resort was ok. It was very quiet and with our holiday being All Inclusive we didn't go out in the resort that much as we'd have had to buy things!!!

Hired a car for 3 days and traveled around the island and this was great. Party if you want around the square or relax in bars on the out skirts. Ayia napa suits all ages.

Far too many expats ruin this place. Shipanis supermarket prices are extortionate. We decided to eat in one night - a standard frozen pizza from Shipanis supermarket - 6.25Euros, the same pizza in Asda about £1.50. Aparently, there are cheaper supermarkets in Paralimni. A lot of people from the southeast of England have settled in Kapparis and they all seem to know each other. The expats were not at all welcoming. Fireman's beach is lovely, though very crowded in August. Some nice places to eat in Kapparis, the best we tried were The Lounge and Just Italian. Worth a visit are Kennedy's, Pig and Whistle (huge portions) and Wooden Crest. Karas was extremely disappointing as the waiters were all surly and we expected a traditional Greek welcome. The Lounge is the place to be - with some good entertainment with a relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Taxis to Protaras 12 Euros, worth going to Anatolias which is the best restaurant we have used and very reasonably priced - it is always busy and it's not hard to see why! We had a good holiday thanks to Diego at The Lounge and a handful of other friendly people we met in resort. We had to spend more than we had planned because everywhere was so expensive.
paphos itself is just a mass of bars and restaurants and bar street opened our eyes nearly been dragged into bars with lots of drunken teens and we had 2 kids with us, this was the one and only time we ventured down there on a night and during the day the sight of the street been cleaned up was as bad. we went to aces cocktail bar every night and spirros the owner was very welcoming, food wise it was very expensive eating out on average spending between 60 and 75 euros for 2 adults and 2 kids for a meal, a pint of beer was 3 euros and coke was 4 euros so it paid to drink alcohol. sight seeing was good we went to the tomb of the kings, mosaics which was very interesting. we hired a car and went to arkaka beach which was deserted and lara beach where the turtles hatch which again was very lonely and felt like it was our personal beach. we went to limassol water park fasouri which was amazing the rides were great and we all had a good day.the harbour was lovely although you were harrassed along the way by touts for boat trips but the worst was the scratchcard touts for timeshares boy were they a pain and no matter how rude you were to them they never stopped bothering you but persevere and they stop otherwise they will hound you for hours and try get you to buy a timeshare, the tell tale sign is when they ask you if you have a credit card.

Good resort to stay for couples or families alike. Beaches are good and plenty of places to eat.
For those that like British grub, you are spoilt for choice for places that "Full English Breakfasts" etc, but there are plenty of places for those that want to get away from all that and try local cuisine.

Ayia napa is definatley called the party capital of cyprus for a reason !!!!Bars, bars, bars and more bars..nice beaches, cool shops...more bars...but very expensive....You would need a second mortgage to go self catering, unless you really are willing to self cater. All inclusive or half board is definatley recommended.

Protaras review
"Friendly clean and lots of places to eat"
resort to a friend
Protaras was purpose built after the Turks invaded the north of the island in 1974, so you dont go here for the culture. You come here for the good beaches, the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere, the great choice of eateries and the water sports. There is minimal traffic in the centre, so it makes it easy to wander up and down the road to choose a place to eat - from McDonalds to Cheers pub and from true Greek cuisine to deliciuos Italian. All sorts! If you want a slightly more real Cypriot town go to Paralimni up the road. If you want solitude head to Cape Greco for the National Park.

This is a modern resort which seems to have been developed in the past decade. However, the beach and nighlife is geared for everyone, especially for families with children. The beach is superb and you need the council run lounger plus unbrellas in August, at 7.50 euro's a day. The water is inviting and clean. This beach is a Blue Flag area and is kept clean to European standards.
For the more adventurous, there are the usual water sports, parachutes, glass bottomed boats etc, everything one can wish for.
The town revolves around the 'Strip', the Hotel Rd which is anything but. It is filled with shops, bars and superb restaurants. We ate at a different place every night, and the food was excellent and plentiful, at a decent price. This is a resort for everyone, especially those with young families. Would we go back? Yes, we would.
