This hotel is ideally situated for the beaches and the square. The reception areas, dining room ,and bar are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The newly designed and spacious pool area is lovely and there are lots of sunbeds ,a jaccuzi, childrens pool and also large shady area .The bedrooms vary in size ,ours was very spacious and had recently been refurbished,it was kept very clean by the hard working and very friendly cleaners. The food was very good ,lots of choice and cooked properly. We stayed bed and breakfast ,so we could eat out sometimes, but the meals were never as good as the hotel, and twice as expensive .Two nice things, drinks in bar and dining room ,half the price of bars in ayia napa. And you dont have to vacate your room untill midday. For a 3 star ,the Anesis hotel takes some beating.

The Pros: The reception and the pool are gorgeous

The cons: Rooms tatty and in severe need of refurbishment, we had a one bedroom apartment and our 19 year old son had to venture through our bedroom to get to the bathroom, there was a bathroom attached to his room but for some obscure reason the hotel had sealed the door - WHY !!! The beds were the most uncomfortable things I have ever slept on and they are also covered in a plastic sheet, which made you very hot and feeling wet, they also creaked when you moved and were in dire need of replacement. The room was full of ants, including the bathroom, my husband was forever spraying the place - usually with my perfume, to get rid of them, at least our room smelt nice. The chairs that belonged to the dining table were rickety and looked like they were going to fall apart. The staff although they never did me any injustice, do have there favourites, usually people that go back year after year - and some do !! The restaraunt food is very strange on an evening, anyone know what emince of turkey is? and the BBQ night was a sham, the meat had never seen a BBQ. Also, although it did not affect me because I don't have small children, they did not do a childrens menu, the kids had to eat what the adults were eating and I heard a lot of mums/dads complaining about this. As this hotel does not offer free child places, I would have been cross too, The breakfasts were ok but I did find it slightly annoying that some of the Russian customers where allowed to take enough food to feed 1/2 a small army, away in a bag that they brought with them everyday. I am talking 8 crossiants, 6 bread rolls, a whole trays worth of ham and cheese, salad, fresh fruit, doughnuts, they even filled water bottles with the fresh orange juice, I got the impression that they thought that they had the devine right to steal from the dining room, in fact the woman even came down in her nightdress(I pressume this was as she would have missed breakfast if she had have had to get dressed)When they had safely packed all the food into the bag the then proceeded to eat enough of what was left to feed the other 1/2 of the army.

If you are going to the Anesis and they offer you a room that ends in 7 8 9 or 0 refuse, these are on the roadside and boy do you here a lot of noise, bykes, mopeds, dustbin vans & drunks coming home from the square from 2.00 - 8.00 by which time you are wide awake. Summary: Will I go back - No not ever

We stayed for 2 weeks at the Anesis, staying in a superior room on a bed and breakfast basis. When we first arrived at the hotel i was pleased as the hotel is very neat and tidy. After we were allocated our room on the second floor i was a little disapointed as the room was very small and the bathroom had seen better days as some of the grouting was very dirty and dated which put a slight dampener on the room considering this is supposed to be one of their best rooms. But at least the rest of the room was clean. As breakfast is the only meal we ate at the hotel i can say that there is plenty to choose from a fully cooked breakfast to cold meats and cereals and plenty of fruit juice and tea and coffee. The pool area is the hotels best feature and is brilliant as the water is a perfect temprature and spotlessly clean and tidy with plenty of sun loungers to choose from at any time of the day. The only thing thats not good is the jacuzzi outside as it is only on for the first 15mins of every hour from 10am until 6pm and its a bit of a rush when it does come on! The staff are very friendly and the cleaning staff are diamonds and always got time to say hello which is nice. On the whole this hotel is ok but its not quite how it is painted by tour operators as a family hotel as ther are lots of groups of young boys and girls who on occasions can forget that there are other people staying at the hotel and can be noisy when coming home at 5am in the morning shouting and laughing. Also its on a main road and noisy motorbikes and buggies use this road 24hrs a day which can be rather on the irratating side and my girlfriend and I ended up buying earplugs from the pharmacy next door to get a good nights sleep. One tip you should take is not to shop at the supermarket directly across the road from the hotel as the prices are nothing short of daylight robbery, you should shop at the supermarket round the corner (take a right out of the hotel entrance, past the pharmacy to the small roundabout and take a right and go past the chinese 2min walk) as it almost half price for the same thing!! And if you are looking for good eating places The Crown Inn across the road from the hotel is excellent as is the mexican restaraunt in Ayia Napa square Los Bandidos. Delicious!!! Would i stay at the Anesis again? Prob not as apart from it being nice it does have a few negative points such as no entertainment in the evenings and is sometimes a bit noisy with the road and the youngsters

After reading the reviews we were expecting a lot more for the hotel The location of the hotel was good which had a supermarket just down the road and a pharmacy next door, there was also a lovely bakers across the road. The staff were really helpful and friendly. There were a couple of disappointments. Firstly when we arrived late at night we we were put in a tiny room supposed to be for 3 adults. the room was that small you could not swing a cat in it. We had 2 single beds and a camp bed. The camp bed was so un comforatble and it collapsed when one of sat on it! That night we asked if we could move but we were told to come back in the morning. That night is was very hot and the air conditioning was very poor. The next morning we were told we could move to a bigger room that afternoon. We were moved to the third floor. The room was bigger and spacious but we still had a camp bed for the third aduld. Again we complained. We were told that they did not have a room with a third bed but they would put a matress on top of the camp bed. It was a bit better. The food variety was not good, we could not fault the breakfast but the evening meal was appalling! There was about 5 dishes to choose from and most of the dishes had mushrooms in them which one member of the party could not stand. The staff would remove your plate before you even put the fork back on the plate. For anyone who had children there was no choice of food for them they had to eat what everyone else had to eat. The desserts consisted of a different topping cake each eve, fruit and icecream. The swimming pool area was very nice, the temperature of the pool was lovely and warm and every now nd then the spa would come on. The cleaners were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were kept clean. We did have to keep asking for clean towels as they were only changed every other day. The hotel did not have any entertainment apart from 1 night in the two weeks we were there and the lady singing did not look happy. This took place whilst people were eating their evening meal. The hotels website states that there is entertainment and a weekly bbq!! The weekely bbq was just bbq food grilled, there was no bbq. Overall we still had a great hotel but we would not return to this hotel again!!

We chose the Anesis after reading Holidays Uncovered reviews and after shortlisting five hotels only Yiannis from the Anesis bothered to respond. This led us to place our booking with the Anesis and it is fate that brought us together.

On arrival at 2.30 am in the morning we were checked in efficiently and given a voucher for missing our evening meal of that day. We went to our rooms (we had 2) they were fantastic. The first room was plush with two balconies, huge bathroom and lavish furnishings and full size free fridge. The second room had a pool view large balcony with sunbeds and table and chairs - view also of the sea and consisted of a double bed, sofa and 2 bunks with separating doors as well as other usual furnishings. We unpacked and crashed into our beds, slept well and awoke early next morning to the scent of bacon!!!

Arriving in the restaurent there was a vast amount to choose from, one counter had yoghurts, fresh fruits, danish pastries and cakes, the second area consisted of a coffee machine, baskets of croissants and toaster with bread baskets, the third refridgerated counter had cheeses and hams and the last longer area consisted of fried bread, fried eggs, fluffy scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, baked beans, tomatoes, diced fried potatoes, hash browns to name a few. The food was excellent, plentiful, hot, and well prepared. The evening meal (we were on half board) was an excellent variety, there was copious amounts of hot soups homemade with rolls and butter, a full salad bar which usually had 3 specially prepared salad meals along with extra lettuces, tomatoes, cucumbers, with varying salad dressings. Then the hot counter - everyday there was chips - mainly I think to pacify any youngsters, but each day there was a pasta choice, the spag bol and the lasagne were simply so very tasty, there was always a fish choice (I dont eat fish - so cant vouch but looked tempting) and then one evening there would be a pork meal, maybe a beef meal, maybe it would be a barbecue night with spare ribs, chicken wings, pork chops, steaks, burgers - but there was chicken coq au van, pork casserole, beef in red wine - to be honest the variety was so immense, cooked to perfection and always with a wide choice of vegetables and two or three varieties of potatoes to choose from it is hard to be detailed. The Jacket potatoes though I have to say were simply the nicest cooked Jackets I have tasted.

On to the pool area which was immaculate, soft background music gave an ambience to being by the pool which was well prepared with lots of sun loungers and parasols which we needed as the heat hit 110 degrees most days. The pool shelved in gently and often people lay on the gradual slope to benefit from the sunshine with at least the slightly cooling waters of the pool. The Jacuzzi was fantastic and could be re-started by pressing a button, the main pool also had another seated area which had jacuzzi type effect. The childrens pool was appreciated by the little toddlers we saw there being only ankle deep on an adult it was very safe.

The poolside bar prepared excellent snacks daytime and the spaghetti carbonara was such a vast creamy plateful we were unable to complete!! The bar prices were reasonable and not typical of hotel prices.

The reception staff were the creme de la creme, Maria who was on most mornings could not do enough for you, on one instance I had bought some medication from the very amply equipped huge pharmacy next door where the pharmacist was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, I had forgotton how many times I had to take the medicine and so asked Maria to translate - she read the leaflet - then rang their Doctor who advised 4 times a day . But this was a small sample including ringing of taxis, booking a jeep for us - just a small sample of the things she did.

Also on reception was Anna who was so friendly and greeted us like family - she showed interest in all we chatted about and shared her life with us as did the afternoon changeover staff from 3pm to 11pm Marie and Nadine - firstly Marie - a girl after my own heart, very family orientated, we shared laughter, stories and a great love of family life, we got so close during our stay we exchanged addresses. Nadine was also very friendly - a young Austrian girl who my eldest son thought was lovely - they both being quite shy and yet struck up a small friendship across the reception counter.

The Restaurent Manager must live eat and breath the Anesis - he was always there - he worked long hours and kept his staff on the ball in a kind manner but his restaurent was a credit to him and he was friendly and took pride in his appearance and the food presentation.

The cleaners - work so hard from morning till night, preparing the pool area, cleaning the rooms and although they did not speak much english were always smiley and friendly.

Now to the Family!! Yiannis - the one who returned my e mail - bought us drinks on arrival and spent some time with us sharing our lives and interests - sorry our horse did not win Yiannis! He introduced us to his wife and she was so loving and caring with my boys, then his mother and father in law who I think own the Hotel - who also bought us drinks, introduced more family and on our departure bought us more cakes and drinks. It was an immensely personal intimate approach that made this hotel the best I have ever stayed in.

The hotel location was fantastic we had a supermarket and bakery opposite us and a pharmacy next door. We were only 10 mins from the square - far enough to escape the noise but near enough to roll home as the men in my family did one night after a bar crawl beginning at Bedrock.

We hired a Jeep one day and we toured around the local area visiting Protaras which also looked a fantastic place to stay, and we also saw Farmagusta the very sad deserted town.

We went to Waterworld which is an absolute must - 17 CYP for adults to get in and if you want a locker it is £3 CYP for one - the lockers are watched all day. The taxis seem to be £5 cyp wherever you go local and many are extended in length thereby catering for larger parties.

We went on one organised night out to see JED a Liverpudlian comedian who was VERY blue and absolutely brilliant - he had us all rocking at our tables which were served with free drinks for 3 hours and a free kebab! - the venue could have been nicer for this though!

The sunshine was fantastic, never had a bad day in 15 days and it was up to 48 degrees in the day and some evenings still 35 degrees the air conditioning in the rooms was an absolute must, just remove the key fob from the keyring and leave in all day - the room safe's were £8 CYP per week. Internet cards were available from reception for either £3 or £5 - I used to buy £10 worth at a time as we are all internet freaks in our home - a £5 card bought you 2 hours internet time, you just typed in a password and log in and out as many times as you wish. They also did phone cards which I used in the booths in the hotel and to be honest what seemed a lengthy phone call back to the UK during the day was only using about £1 a time. Good Value.

The rooms had TV's in as did the bar area where the welcome meetings were held. We had an excellent rep Kelly who used to make us laugh with her ";Y'orite"; from Wigan!! However Kelly was on our day home being moved to Anthea Apartments - did not envy her.

For the purposes of our thoughts there were several places we would not have wished to stay, even some of the so called nicer hotels were rated badly by some of the guests who accompanied us on the trips for either rude staff or crap food, one that did get rated well was Napa Plaza for anyone interested. Personally if Yiannis can meet our requirements we will return back this year and if not definately next.

The Anesis hotel is a charming family run hotel, small enough to be personal and caring and large enough to have all the additional facilities you could need.

The pool table cost 50 cents, the table tennis was free, if you go and need a lilo - look behind the wall near the table tennis table as the spare lilo's are placed there so dont spend unless you have to.

If you are on bed only the breakfast is £3.50 per person, the evening meal is £6 - very competative with resort. On our last night we ate out at Raffaels on the road where McDonalds is - it was highly recommended, large portions, friendly staff - absolutely fantastic.

We also visited Nissi Beach where the sun beds and parasols are very reasonable in fact in 12 years dont think they have gone up in price. The beach was fantastic the sea was so gently shelving we had walked half a mile before it reached our waist!! My family went paragliding at a cost of £15 each - jet ski's were £25 CYP and banana boat £5 cyp. You often got the locals coming up the beach offering you bottles of cold juice with a very friendly ";lovely juice for sexy ladies, sexy juice for sex machine"; LOL - my kids were repeating this the whole holiday.

All in all we had a fantastic stay, the family rooms are large and comfortable at the Anesis - definately worth paying the extra for a pool/sea view.

If anyone does return please remember us to Maria, Marie, Anna and Nadine - and our warmest love to Yiannis and his wife Helena and my adopted Mom and Dad their parents - your run a wonderful hotel and you made my holiday and you should be very proud.

May I add I have Multiple Sclerosis and Yiannis and his team made sure that every need and every request I had to ensure a comfortable healthy holiday was met. For reference we stayed in rooms 203 and 206 -most of the photos are from 206.

The resort is excellent, the hotel is excellent, the weather is excellent, it is cheaper now than 12 years ago with local Keo 1/2 pint at £1 CYP and £1.50 for a pint. Double Vodka and Red Bull £2 CYP - really is the in place to go
