Good Hotel

We went with two teanergers to the Acapulco. The hotel has good beach facilities and the food was good but the evening entertainment was terible. There is nowhere else to eat/drink/shop within walking distance and a hire car is a necessity.

we stayed a bungalow with two rooms it was very small and dark no area outside to sit out, beetles and lizards also shared the rooms.we had no minibar you must only get one in the hotel.the pools were ok the waterslides were popular especially on sundays when a lot of the locals payed a fee to use the pools and beach.

the animation was poor, the entertainment at night was dire the same artists singing the same songs.the food was fab at breakfast plenty of choice to choose from yet at lunch in the beach bar it was pizza, pide, chips kebabs and a choice of local foods, dinner was chaotic and repetetive most nights althought the sweets were really tasty.hardly any thing for the children to do apart fom arcades, pool tables, table football and the adults pushed in when it came to using the internet, one computer is not enough.I went for a massage and was put in a dingy lit room no relaxing music no candles no ambience at all.

also there is a casino attached to the hotel cars coming and going day and night. It is worthwhile going into town everything is pretty cheap, get on the bus early as it gets busy.the shop on site is really a rip off he charges to much.

all in all the ratings given to this hotel are not accurate the hotel was rated 5* standard I wouldnt give the bungalows a 2*.we also stayed at a hotel called the pia bella for one night it was brilliant just wished we had booked to stay there instead of acapulco, worst holiday we have ever been on,no rep to meet and greet when you arrive,no information given out, hardly any english mainly cypriots and spanish and greeks.not a very english family friendly hotel.

also before you book your holiday a word of advise check to see if it has a Atol licence and pay on your credit card our holiday company flew us out on the 12 august 06 and the company went bust on the 15 august 06 we found out to our horror when we arrived at Ercan airport that our tickets had been cancelled,we had to purchase 4 tickets at a cost of nearly £700.00,luckily I had my credit card.

We have just returned from our first holiday to North Cyprus and can only say that we had an excellent time, very relaxing.

The food was wonderful and the staff helpful and attentive. The hotel, both inside and out was very clean and the rooms spacious. Fresh towels in the rooms every day and the bed linen change at least 3 times a week.

The hotel is set on its own private bay with a superb beach, which again is kept extremely clean. Sun loungers, large embrellas and beach towels are available free of charge.

There is a curtsey bus at various times during the day if you want to go into Kyrenia. The return fare is only 2 Turkish lire.

We hired a car for three days so that we could explore the area at our pace, the scenery is wonderful and there are many places of historical interest.

We would recommend September/October to anyone who does not want the fierce sun of the summer months 45-47C. It was 30C+ while we were there, more than hot enough.

This will not be our only holiday to Northern Cyprus and we could certainly go back to the Acapulco.

Just returned from our holiday to the Acapulco Hotel - Kyrenia, N. Cyprus, overall had a good time. The hotel rooms were large and spacious and clean with the children in their own room at side of our room, which was as requested, although some other families were split up on different floors. The hotel reception staff were very helpful and polite.

The swimming pool is huge, and the water slides brilliant for the kids, but be aware, that the hotel does get very, very busy on a Fri, Sat, Sun, as it seemed that all the locals flocked to the hotel for the day to use the facilities.

The beach is beautiful, lots of sun loungers, clear blue sea, but very hot sand! There are others areas to sun bathe too, the grassy area or around the pool, although the pool area was quite loud and manic.

The Travel Company does not inform you that beach and pool towels are available free of charge, but they were available from the bar area, just ask bar attendants who will assist.

The Hotel is in the middle of no where, so be aware that there is no where to walk, and the nearest supermarket is not within an hours walking distance, believe me, we tried it!! You can get to a very small one within 15 minute car journey.

The cost of drinks within the hotel are very pricey for instance a can of coke cost two pounds, a packet of crisps the same, a shot of malt whiskey nine quid, believe it or not. We found it very restricting, as you are not allowed to bring food or drinks in from the supermarkets, and they WILL be confiscated by the hotel staff if they see you walk in with carrier bags from the supermarket, therefore you had to purchase all drinks etc from the hotel.

The hotel food was very very good, lots of chefs cooking an assortment of local delicasies, but if you can image 1000 people all merging into the only restaurnat serving breakfasdt and dinner, it was rather hectic.

The resort really does have all the facilites you require for a good holiday, but would benefit if it was all inclusive and not just half board.

Overall a good holiday.

On our arrival at the hotel we were given a room with a view of the servants entrance and car park which were scattered with pots, tables and chairs - even though we had paid £200 for a room upgrade! There were no views of the pool, sea or mountains as stated in the Cyrpus Paradise brochure.

There were no plugs in the bath or basin in the en-suite bathrooms and the patio furniture on the balcony was broken causing one of our children to fall! This was not replaced despite reporting it on first morning of our holiday.
Other guests staying in the hotel bungalows were seen reguarly bringing in cockroaches which frequented their room during the night. The reception staff's advice was just to spray them with bug spray and go back to sleep!

The half board basis is only available for evening meals and the price of drinks in the resort is extortionate - e.g. £2.30 for can of coke!
The air conditioning in the restaurant was not working and the hot food was cold and the cold food which was not refrigerated, was warm. The quality of the food was terrible and you were left guessing what in fact you were putting on your plate due to lack of labelling.

The pool area is finished in a marble like tile which when wet is like an ice rink - we witnessed numerous children and adults slipping and falling .
The whole area around the pool is in poor repair with many hazards.
Also, the hotel pool, beach and it's facilities are open to the locals every weekend and they arrive in their hundreds taking over the place - mostly Turkish youths in their late teens who run riot around the pool area.
There are open man holes and drains on the main approach to the pool , and the paviours all around the hotel are left in a terrible state with numerous pot holes and uneven edges.
Part of the beach wall has collapsed and is left in a pile of rubble with numerous areas around the beach resembling a building site with sand, cement and wheelbarrows left lying around. Watersports consist of 1 canoe! and there were numerous bags of rotting seaweed left for days on the edge of the beach.

On our first evening, we took a taxi to Kyrenia harbour and purchased some personal toiletries and some refreshements for our day trip the following day. On our return to the hotel the porter escorted us in to reception and pointed out to the reception staff that we had carrier bags. We were confronted by 4 staff who demanded to look in our bags and were told that we were not allowed to take any drinks or food up to our room or consume anything that was not bought on the premises. They tried to confiscate our bags and we were told that we could collect them when we left the hotel grounds. We explained that the drinks were for a trip the following morning and refused to hand over our bags. We then returned to our room where we put the drinks in the fridge. We then went to the Restaurant for cocktails and on our return to the room there was a note under our door stating staff had entered our room and taken the drinks and we could have them the following day when we left the hotel grounds. The note was signed with a questionmark!

After 3 days of our 10 day holiday, we asked to move hotels or be flown home early as we just couldn't stand it any more. We were fortunate to be moved to a hotel in Kyrenia which was much better although we then had to go on a B and B basis, therefore having to fund our evening meals even though we had already paid for a half board holiday.
All in all, this hotel is a health and safety nightmare, the staff are rude and their policies leave alot to be desired .

This Is advertised as a 4/5* resort - it is not!.
