Nicki Holiday Resort Reviews

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Cyprus. I chose this accomodation after reading wonderful reviews of the hotel. Unfortunately, we were slightly disappointed to find there was no-one here and that there was no entertainment or kids club as specified on their web site. There was no apology or explanation given either. We never once met any of the 'Stratis' family that people have raved about. The plus side of this was that we had a pool all to ourselves for the whole time we were there.

The hotel itself is lovely and clean, beautiful pools, comfy loungers, the rooms however are very basic, the bed was really uncomfortable, cuboards were smelly. We were in the old part of the hotel though and I'm sure all the new rooms are wonderful. We chose not to eat in the restaurant as there was never anyone there, so can not comment on the food.

A few days before we arrived, the hotel had been fully booked with Cypriot guests, which seems to be the norm for this hotel, as this is the case I would not choose to return to this hotel, but highly recommend the area.

This was our eighth visit to Polis but our first at the Nicki, it will not be the last.

With the exception of the Anassa (5*plus) Polis really only has basic accomodation which in many cases appears to be used by travel agents as an allocation on arrival overflow, this means that many of the people who find themselves in Polis are dissatisfied with the location as they really want something more lively.

The Nicki will not be found in many uk travel brochures as the owner would rather cater for for people who appreciate the qualities of Polis and it's surrounding areas as opposed to people who arrive there by default.

We arrived at the Nicki at 11.00pm and the reception staff were very helpful,as was Petros the owner who came out to greet us. We had booked a penthouse apartment which gave us a superb view across Chrysochou Bay.

Our apartment had a large terrace with sun loungers table and chairs.The air conditioning was without doubt the best i have experienced anywhere including the USA.The third and fourth bed were proper beds,not sofa beds which are the norm. The standard of cleanliness was the best that we have encountered in many trips to cyprus, also the general standard of maintenance of the property was excellent.

Although we ate out most of the time in Polis and Latchi we did use the on site restaurant on several occassions.
All the meals were freshly cooked with proper ingredients (not frozen) and the home cooked chips were sublime!.
All staff without exception were helpful and courteous at all times. Over the course of our stay we spoke with Petros on several occassions he cares about his hotel,he cares about his guests,and it shows.

The independent traveller looking for a quiet stress free holiday in peacful surroundings will be delighted as we were with the Nicki holiday resort/Polis.

Polis / Latchi is not the destination if you want lively and nightlife,however if you want a genuine Cypriot environment this is the place for you.

Car hire is essential unless you are a keen walker Polis,Latchi,the beach are all approx 20 min walk (bring torch and good shoes).

We are already planning our next visit hopefully in the not too distant future.

Our fifth trip to Polis and our fourth to the Nicki Holiday resort.Lovely room (cleaned every day)with wonderful views and a large terrace to enjoy them from.Hotel staff all very friendly and helpful.We've always hired a car direct from the UK but in future think we might hire direct from the Nicki.

Have to say we love the Polis Latchi area. We do like to chill out on holiday and our favourite way of doing that is bobbling around in the sea which is beautifully clear and perfect for a lazy snorkel.A drive into the mountains to Kykkos monastery is a must. Do go to the museum, the combination of the modern beautifully crafted building and the artefacts is stunning.

Foodwise according to my husband the best steak he has ever had is at Finikas restaurant in Polis.Wonderful food and good service. Best meal of all though for us is the Yangtse Chinese restaurant in the Nicki Complex. Solos, Anna and Maria will ensure you have a meal to remember and Anna's Brandy Sours are legendary!
All in all a wonderful relaxing holiday for us both.

Our daughter is at the Nicki at the moment with her boyfriend. She met him in Aug 2002 at the Nicki during a barbecue when the owner Petros pushed her into the pool and she came up spluttering in front of her future boyfriend!
Call us boring if you like but we have no wish to go anywhere else on holiday. The Nicki and the Polis Latchi area are perfect for us.
