This hotel is very poor. Here are the facts of our personal experience:
1. The beds were worn out to the springs.
2. The carpets were filthy and stained
3. The air conditioning in the room did not work at all, and when switched on, sounded like a tractor. We would leave it on at 7pm, and when we returned to the room, usually around midnight, the room temp was as we left it!
4. The corridor on the 3rd floor stunk of stale air conditioning, with visible leaks from the ceiling.
5. Reception did not sell stamps.
6. The TV never worked, despite promises of it being fixed.
7. The lift was ancient, and there was a piece of metal hanging off the lift mirror for several days before it was 'temporarily' fixed, with strips of thick, white masking tape.
Avenida was built in the early 80's, and has had zero refurbishment other than possibly a coat of paint.
Olympic holidays should feel ashamed of themselves for recommending such appalling hotels.
Places to eat: If you want a superb, PROPER Cypriot Meze, go to 'Forsos Tavern' in Moutayiaka village. (10 mins from Avenida). For superb FRESH fish cooked on charcoal, go to 'Old Limassol', 5 mins walk, turn right out of hotel and walk! Trust me on the food, I am half Cypriot and know all the best places to eat! Totally avoid, at all costs, touristy places for food, other than 'Just George' opposite hotel. His food is all fresh, and he has a high turnover of cutomers. For lunch, find a Cypriot bakery and buy some on 'koupes' with mince, then buy some small 'shamishe' for desert! Talking of cakes, you must try 'kalo brama', means 'good thing' in English. and finally, if you want a Cypriot treat for lunch, go to the Famagusta Nautical Club, and ask for fresh tuna, they will bring you as huge tuna steak cooked on charcoal, also have 'bamyes', (ladies fingers)and maybe some lentils too! For desert there, try 'Mahalebi', a tasty middle eastern sweet with rose water.
Good luck and happy holidays!

We have just returned from a really nice new years holiday in Limassol Cyprus.
We stayed at the Avenida Beach Hotel.
It's not the best hotel we have ever stayed in but it was good enough.
The rooms are average and basic, which is fine when all we needed them for was for sleeping. The beds were clean (no stains or rips) the bathroom was also kept really clean and linen and towels were changed on a regular basis. We didn't have to pay any extra for sea view, but if you do have to I would recommend you do so, it was so nice waking up to blue skys, sun shining and listening to the sound of the sea!
The owner will do anything for you, any problems you have he will sort.
We stayed for bed and breakfast, the breakfast was alright, choice of toast, cereal, cold ham, cheese, tomatoes, cucumber and the eggs how you like or omelette, which also came with sausage or bacon occasionally. Tea, coffee or orange juice.
Not sure what dinner was like, as we like to go out at night.
The Hotel itself is really nice, they have a large swimming pool and plenty of sun loungers, pool tables, video games and two bars.
The area around the hotel is nice but not much to do, there is no beach at the hotel but if you walk along the front you will eventually find one.
The Italian across the road is excellant and their are plenty of other decent places to eat further up the road. Johnnys pub is good for British holidays makers as they have large TV screens for live sports, like football!
I would however recommend getting a taxi to the Galaxtic Centre about 5 mins drive away which is the tourist area. There are loads more bars, restaurants and clubs.
If you fancy abit of sight seeing visit the Troodos mountains for some fantastic scenery and if you go in winter you might be lucky enough to see some snow - we did and went sledging!!
Paphos is my favorite place and well worth visiting if not staying their instead of Limassol!
Overall we had a great holiday and would recommend this hotel but not too fussed on resort.
It seems that we have gone to a different Avenida Hotel to the ones previously listed.

We had 2 weeks at the Avenida Beach Hotel which we thoroughly enjoyed, we had a stunning sea view from our hotel room which I would highly recommend paying the extra for! Otherwise you look over a busy dual carriageway.
The rooms were basic, typical Greek and very clean. The cleaner changed our towels and bed linen on a regular basis.
The swimming pool is excellent with nice pool surroundings.
We found the staff to be very friendly and efficient from the start of our holiday. Hercules the receptionist held the restaurant open so we could have some hot food when we arrived from the airport late.
Maria, Tony, Abdul and Alum who manned the restaurant and bar were really nice funny people.
The breakfast, although a bit repetative was adaquate, hot eggs, boiled, scambled or fried were provided on different days, with a strange type of frankfurter sausage which I didn't particularly care for, however, bacon was served on a couple of occasions and there was always cold cheese, ham, tomatoes and cereal available as well.
The evening meal again was limited, but I found it to be adaquate, I am sure that some guests were frustrated as chips were never on the menu!
The Hotel held a Cyprus night every Tuesday with traditional Greek food and dancers,
The beach, well not really a beach more a rocky shoreline. Several small beaches are found a couple of hundred yards away where the swimming is safe with shallow water.
We can can honestly say that we recommend this Hotel and we would return if going back to Limassol!

Room Filthy, carpet had holes, bath greasy, shower head filthy all smelt mouldy. Window hanging off.
Beds old spings squeaked, with bobbly sheets marked and mouldy. Lights out of the ark, one chair.Rooms stated as tastefully decorated and cosy, the only things cosy were bed bugs. We were covered in bites next morning.
Write up 3* with 4* facilities, we never found them.
Food, cold and poor, improved after complaints from others. We as others from moved to another hotel.
Avenida could be a good hotel with a good clean and a lot of money spent on it. Worst Hotel I have ever stayed in.
