THE PAFIAN SUN IS NOT A 4* HOTEL. It is an apartment complex and as such cannot have a star rating. The brochure quite clearly states as such.

the worst holiday we have ever been on and what made it even worse was the fact that it was our honeymoon!!

The best bit of the holiday was our view and thats the only thing thatw as right, we booked a sea view and we got it amazing...as a honeymoon couple we were told we would have flowers, chocs and champagne in our room, I think the maids must have had it, or it was put in next doors room...being on AI was the worst mistake we could have made food was just warm, same kind of thing every day and night, and most of it tasteless, never mind the queing. the bar closed at 12midnight if you were staying as a AI guest you couldnt get a pint of lager only half the drinks were watered down the staff were miserable apart from hussein service was cr*p, reps were cr*p and the entertainment was yep you guessed it...cr*p dont go to the Pafian Sun Village and who ever gave it a 4 star rating must have been very drunk or stayed in a completely different hotel

The Pafian Sun has had some very bad reviews and we were concerned about visiting but all our doubts were put to rest as soon as we arrived. The reps were very friendly and took care of us brilliantly.

Admittedly the food in the restaurant was not brilliant but there was always a good variety so we were happy. The pool was beautiful but unfortunately too cold to use in November but thankfully the indoor pool was heated and never seemed to get over crowded!

The best thing about the holiday by far was the entertainment, the 4 entertainers worked tirelessly to ensure we all had fun and they were constantly rehearsing in the early hours of the morning - true dedication. Matt, Ben, Sunny and Donna were fantastic and really made our holiday.

The hotel was not a 4* standard but it is not advertised as such, they are A class apartments and have been given a Thomas Cook 4 sun rating.

Returned recently from the Paphian Park Holiday Village in Chlorakas, 7km outside of Paphos Town Centre. (15 minutes on a very regular but busy bus service). Not to be confused with Paphian Sun Village, which I believe is a different hotel.

Excellent accommodation, nice flats with fridge, cooker, toaster, kettle and yes ladies a proper hairdrier, 1500w, excellent for long hair. Don't bother taking your own, never used mine at all. All of these were provided even though we were all inclusive.

The hotel itself is clean and tidy, very quiet, lovely large pool with a kids pool as well. There is also an indoor pool and gymnasium, which was well used and reasonably well equipped. If you are self catering be prepared for the shop on site, it's not good at all, however there are shops within about 5 to 10 minute walk which I heard were better.

We were all inclusive basis and this is probably where there might be a few bad points depending on what you are expecting. We had never gone AI before so had nothing to compare it with. The food was very repetitive, never saw any sign of Cyprus night/Italian night etc as advertised. The quality and taste of the food was good though, can't complain about that, however being veggie I really struggled for anything to eat but salad or plain pastas. A few of us did discuss this with the rep and things improved a bit.

The hotel advertise that snacks are available well into the night however these were mostly grapes/apples/melon and pieces of fruit cake. Sometimes after lunch there were chips and fish fingers etc but these appeared to be what was left over from lunch. Not a great choice, however on a more positive note, how much can one person eat in a day?

Bar staff - some were friendly, mostly the women, one to watch out for is 'S' with the eagle eye. Accused me of buying drink for someone who wasn't AI and when I denied this he said he didn't believe me, in other words I was a liar. Not a very pleasant man. Sometimes whilst waiting at the bar you get the impression that you are a second class citizen because the bar staff and managers appear extra keen to serve anyone who isn't all inclusive. I think they forget that we aren't actually getting drink for free, we have already paid for it in the price of our holiday. Cocktail menu as advertised is not great, as not all the cocktails are included on AI. Only about four to choose from. No bl**dy mary's or margaritas, however did a very nice Tequila Sunrise. Lager is only served in half pint glasses, well plastic cups actually during the day, though we took this to be because they didn't want glass around the pool which is fair enough. Bottled water is not included on AI, although you can take an empty container to the bar and ask them to refill it for you from the purified water they sell at the bar.

As you can probably see, I have tried to advise on what we felt were the negative points but also tried to point out the positives, of which there were a lot. All in we can honestly say, if you want a pleasant, wonderfully warm holiday, with a great complex and reasonably good food, then the Paphian Park is a great choice. If you want a lively resort holiday, then you should probably go elsewhere. (Also the Akti Beach Hotel and the Dammas Bar five minutes walk along the road are excellent if you get that wee bit fed up staying in the same place all the time). Would we go back? Yep, although we would only go AI if we were there for a week.

Last of all, hi! to Den, Lucy and the coconut cream cake!! You know who you are! Jan+Fraser Paphos ~2004~

This hotel should be rated at a low as possible. All female group went out,had no hot water for three days. Sofa bed slats broken,Ants and Cockroaches on the groud and coming out sink.

Towels that were dirty request for clean ones were turned inside out to appear clean. So you had a nice surprise once opened. Reception treat you as idiots. Thomas cook reps not help at all. Chase you for money for trips (went on Egypt trip fantasic, flew) then ignore you for the duration of the holiday . This was an all inclusive package. We were treated like dirt. Last resort was the General manager, we battled to see him who initally didnt want to give us a foc courtesy room on the last day.I would not go back there again if it was the last place in Cyprus!

The holiday was ok but for the all/inc side the drinks were poor in quality and in portion i would recomend you go self catering if you go. pool may look clean but lots of cats around drinking pool water and doing god only knows in there food not good very borig and not a lot to to offer we decided to eat out alot,

the harbour is nice and the last resturant along the harbour was the best one place to not go is the pelican food c--p people not nice also stayaway! coral bay very nice must go! also tomb of the kings good very hot midday in there, back to pafian waiters not bad look out for hussain nice man notice he smiles all the time ,rooms not bad cockroaches yes big ones also ants yes big ones my sum up is that the pafian sun village is not 4 star its 3 star i would go back to paphos but i don't think id stay at pafian sun. the entertainment was good some very good also some not so good but forget the greek night and cypriot night thats awful.do not sit outside for your meals there are cats everywhere and they do bug you.

we went here a little concerned at some of the reviews we had read beforehand.we originally booked another holiday that stopped dealing with thomas cook so kind have had this one directed at us so we trusted the travel agents and changed to here.

when we got there i was surprised as it did look lovely from outside, the rooms were ok-i wouldnt say 4 star but i think that rating is mainly because of the facilities i.e. gym saunan etc etc not because its meant to be POSH as such.

we made a big mistake going AI- we were bored with staying in one place for food after the 1st 5 days and the food was limited-espiecially the kids buffet (pasta sausage chips and nuggets, everyday!)also there are a lot of cats around the outside eating area, one scratched a little girl whose parents we were travelling with-so i would recommend going out to eat, the harbour has some lovely restaurants and they all adore children (poseidonas is exceptional the last restaurant along the harbour)

i think the thing i enjoyed most were the reps they worked tirelessly and the kids loved them, welshy is amazing and i am glad he does cabaret back home out of season as i would love to see him again!we used to go out but be back for the disco at 8-but for the younger children mc jay isnt there anymore welshy said he is retiring?!the drinks on all in were naff too, very limited as were the kids ice creams and even if you were ai you still had to pay for the sauna etc and the air conditioning is very expensive,5.20 per day.

all in all i would go back BUT only self catering-the entertainment team made me not want to come home, cerys, ben, becky ,michelle and welshy will definitely put a smile on your face.i won 200 quid on bingo,a thomas cook superstar t shirt and a bottle of sparkling vinegar (you will understand if you go!!!) so my advice is go,eat out lots enjoy cyprus, and if you join in with all the activities you will enjoy it so much more.

We have just arrived back from the Pafian Sun in cyprus and after looking at some of the reviews it seems like some people are talking about a completly different place!

We originaly went self catering but when we arrived upgraded to All Inclusive for 85cyp pounds for the week. I would definitly recommend this as the food is great with a good selection of salads, cold food, hot food, fruit and deserts. Also the drinks are good to, although i must warn you that one of their alcohol measurements is about five of ours! I would also say to try the ouzo special cocktail-very nice!
When your All inclusive you also get one dinner a week in the a la carte restaurant. The food in here was absolutly beautiful! Its a must to take some quite smart clothes for this as its quite posh.

The reps were great and did their best to involve everyone. Some of the entertainment was repetative but the show each night was different. Some of the reps couldn't sing a right key at all, but a few of them like Michelle were really good. As someone else said before, miss the Greek night!VERY bad!
Everyone that we met who worked their were very nice and very chatty! They all did their best to help.

The pool are seemed very clean and tidy. Stunning views of the sea! The only thing i would say to watch out for is that its VERY slippy around the pool when it wet!

The situation of the holiday village is great because it is right between Paphos town and Coral bay, with the regular bus service going up and down all day till about 11 at night. We hired a bike for two days for 40cyp which was really good fun, and nice when you needed a bit of a breeze!

I would definitly say to visit the Tombs of the Kings as these were AMAZING!
Also the waterpark in Paphos is loads of fun and Coral bay is must!

All in all i would say that the only people who wouldn't like the Pafian Sun are people who want to get away from children, but i would say that this was a problem for us!
And anyone who loves cats will be wanting to take them all home with them as their all lovely!

I'm afraid that I am going to have to agree with most people on this one. The Pafian Sun IS Butlins!!

Entertainment boring. The reps did work hard but its not what I was expecting. As we were close to the pool area where the entertainment was held it was impossible to get away from and it would have been nice to have had the choice to do so on occassions. It would have been nice to have been able to put the children to bed early aswell as we had booked up some trips and had to be up early. Its nice to have entertainment but this was too ";in your face";!

Accommodation definately not 4*. Maid service pretty good.

Pool area dirty. We saw it being hosed down but it needed more than that especially as most of the water (along with the dirt) was running into the pool! The pool felt gritty to walk on. Yuk!

Food OK but boring after a while.

Drinks watered down big time.

Kids and teenagers everywhere. Not always a bad thing but it got very irritating when trying to sleep and they were still running about (sometimes as late as 2.30am) not even trying to be quiet. Of course I expected there to be children but to be kept awake all night by them was something I wasn't expecting! Where were the parents!

Ear infections everywhere. NOT something I should always expect when going away, as suggested by a previous review.

In short, cr*p holiday. Will definately not be returning to the Pafian Sun. Butlins isn't my sort of thing!

Arrived at the Pafian Sun in the first week in July. We had a self catering apartment with a sea view, which was spotlessly clean very large, if a little dated in decor. Air conditioning was welcomed due to temperature being in the 40's. Maid Service was excellent. I would say that even though the hotel and grounds were beautifully kept I would class this as a three star. Super for families that need children to be entertained. I would suggest that this is not the place for couples as it caters for families with children and the entertainment is geared towards them. However found it good value as a last minute booking.

I booked this last minute,so didnt know what to expect. It was supposedly a 4 star but doesent deserve to be rated at all,the staff werent helpfull at all,and i found i had to ask for receipt for everything,to be on the safe side, they charged me for the air conditioning, but when i read on the back of the door it was free and relayed this to the receptionist, she replied that for vip,s only. It was only listening to the other guests constantly grumbling that i found out that other people had been charged to,and some had refused to pay,i was told to see a guy called dick, who was the med rep,he told me to tell them id spoken to him it was only when i said this that they refunded my money.

the place is miles from anywhere, but there is a bus a few hundred yards up the road that takes you to paphos, but be warned if you want to come back after 11pm youll need to get a cab costing you 7cypriot poundsabout a tenner. On the last day i got a pint of fresh orange which they charged me 3.60 cypriot pounds, absolutely disgusting, the enter tainment is non existent,in a word if you want to book a holiday in paphos forget this place.

This hotel is like Butlin's in the sun. If you like that sort of thing then fine but when you expect to be staying in a 4* property you don't expect to get awful food, a swimming pool that was so dirty you can't see to the bottom of it and for the lifts to be out of order. The bar toilets were constantly out of order due to them being blocked up.
Everyone of my children got an ear infection due to the state of the swimming pool. The reps were no help - I was told that ear infections come as part of your holiday!!!

We were staying on an all inclusive basis which was a joke as we didn't eat at the hotel at all after the 1st day. When getting drinks from the bar you were only allowed 3, children only allowed 1 so as a family of 5 both me and my husband had to go to the bar separately so we could have a drink!!!

The hotel staff's attitude was appauling. I didn't see any one of them smile all holiday!

Just returned from here!Very disappointed! There is no way this is a 4* hotel. My advice-go somewhere else!

I was fuming when I got to the welcome meeting and I was told that you could upgrade to all inclusive for £17 pounds a day with two days a week free and your 2nd child half price.Works out much cheaper if you're booked self catering.Rooms shabby, some mouldy bathrooms and were basic.(We where 3 families as a party).

Some staff lovely others very rude.We were asked if ";you English have heard of the saying that your eyes are bigger than your bellies";when in fact the waiter had brought the wrong drinks to the table (whiskies instead of vodkas)and we are not greedy or drink ourselves daft adults!.She was eyeing up the full glasses! My partner was told off for eating the left overs of my sons ice-cream(Seriously!),Apparently ice-creams are for children only, only one ice-cream-twice daily!!Kids be on time!.Food-Ok not much choice for children.-

Luckily we hired a car to see some sights-worth it,but did use the bus service as well which was also very good.Fat Mamma's a must if you want to eat out for a lovely meal. There was long queues to see reps for complaints and to top the holiday off-on the last night there was a massive brawl with police, staff and holidaymakers-obviously some people accidentally involved.

The highlights-the entertainment team and football coach(for the boys). They tried very hard-one of the best iv'e seen. They need promotion Thomas Cook but please take another look at this place for next years brochure.

If you like going to Butlins then you will like this complex, it's far too British certainly alot of people getting their moneys worth (drink wise). Half of the people came down with ear infections, my partner ended up in hospital with Gastroenteritis and put on a drip and my daughter picked up a fungal infection from the pool side.
The only nice thing I can say about this place is the food.

The so called adult entertainment was one night making paper aeroplanes and see who's flies the furthest, or singing which was just too much every night.
The bar staff and women waitresses were very miserable, what ever happened too ";service with a smile";.

I have been all-inclusive for 14 years so have experience on what to expect but I must say this is the worst place I have ever been too if they are saying 4*.
