i booked this hotel as a 4* all inclusive so was i dissapointed when we arrived, well yes i was.
the room we were allocated had a lovely view but that is all it had going for it.
to my discust the room was filthy and they had even left dirty towels for us to use from the previous guests which may i add took three days to get changed in the end we bought our own towels to use.

the rep was completly useless. the food was terrible cold and bland and not alot of choice because i feared about getting food poisoning we ate out, it cost us about 50 cypriot pound a day.

the entertainment was terrible not like what was advertised. the only good side to this holiday was the weather other than that i wanted to move to another hotel but they wanted 600 pounds to move us which i was not prepared to pay.

Just returned from here!Very disappointed! There is no way this is a 4* hotel. My advice-go somewhere else!

I was fuming when I got to the welcome meeting and I was told that you could upgrade to all inclusive for £17 pounds a day with two days a week free and your 2nd child half price.Works out much cheaper if you're booked self catering.Rooms shabby, some mouldy bathrooms and were basic.(We where 3 families as a party).

Some staff lovely others very rude.We were asked if ";you English have heard of the saying that your eyes are bigger than your bellies";when in fact the waiter had brought the wrong drinks to the table (whiskies instead of vodkas)and we are not greedy or drink ourselves daft adults!.She was eyeing up the full glasses! My partner was told off for eating the left overs of my sons ice-cream(Seriously!),Apparently ice-creams are for children only, only one ice-cream-twice daily!!Kids be on time!.Food-Ok not much choice for children.-

Luckily we hired a car to see some sights-worth it,but did use the bus service as well which was also very good.Fat Mamma's a must if you want to eat out for a lovely meal. There was long queues to see reps for complaints and to top the holiday off-on the last night there was a massive brawl with police, staff and holidaymakers-obviously some people accidentally involved.

The highlights-the entertainment team and football coach(for the boys). They tried very hard-one of the best iv'e seen. They need promotion Thomas Cook but please take another look at this place for next years brochure.

Advertised as 4* Not so.Bedding fithy no pillow cases;a strong smell of sewerage by the pool.Sewerage seeping out of the patio.Very simular eating facilities to a transport cafe.Entertainment team young and very poor. The only positive is that we refused to unpack and after heated meetings with the thomas cook rep we were moved to the Queens Bay next door that place is beautiful. The entertainments manager said the PAFFIAN SUN is a embarrasment to the entire island.

Not recommended. No disrepect to some reviewers who rated this place highly but this is possibly the worst hotel I've ever stayed at and I holiday abroad at least 3 times a year.

On booking I request a room in a quiet area of the complex as I have a 6 year old, I was told no problem you will have an inland view looking out to the hills. On arrival our room was on the ground floor with our balcony less than 3 meters away from the outdoor entertainment stage which blasted out music and games till midnight. On top of that the Bed in the living room was broken(And they expected my 6 year old to sleep on it), the unit in the bedroom collapsed whn I placed my bag on it and the drawers were full of previous holiday makers hair and used cotton wool buds amongst other things.

The next morning I complained to the reservations manager who was useless so went back to the room and took digital photos of problems and demanded to speak to the manager. He had no alternative but to move us after seeing the evidence I had collected.

We stayed self catering, but the Mini Market was hopeless with no essentials such as fresh bread, milk, beans etc. The nearest decent supermarket was in Kato Pafos 6 k away or a £6 taxi ride.

The entertainment was woeful although the ";Animation team "; did try, They struggled to create a party atmosphere any night.

A couple of nights the Kids disco conisted of a Ghetto blaster in the corner of a room(My 6 year old was very confused).

The location of this hotel is 7K from Coral bay and 6K From Kato Paphos so unless you have a car you will be having a grim time.

We did try the breakfast one morning which Looked great, Unfortunatley the tasted did not reflect that. It was disgusting

Book this hotel at your own risk, I will not be going back thats for sure.

"Pafian Park Holiday Village review"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Poor

Open quote

Whether or not you enjoy your holiday at the Pafian Sun depends on what your expectations are and what your type of ";thing"; is. Unfortunately for us, it wasn't ours. Basically, you will either love it or hate it.

After reading some of the reports we were beginning to get really worried but after a lot of consideration we decided to stick with our choice and keep an open mind. After all, we had chosen it specifically because it had kids' clubs and offered a daytime and evening entertainments programme so we were expecting there to be a lot of kids and things going on. However, the Pafian Sun was unlike anything I have experienced abroad before. It can be summed up in once sentence - ";Butlins in the sun!";. Two words also spring to mind - ";naff"; and ";tacky";.

Firstly, I have to agree with previous reviews that have rated the Pafian Sun 3* as opposed to 4*. The apartments themselves were very basic. Our apartment had only one cupboard in which to store food and this was under the sink where the bin was kept and there was absolutely no work surface on which to prepare food. For anybody that intends to do any catering I can't imagine it will be easy. We also had a few teething problems with our apartment - the toilet seat was loose and eventually fell off, there was no plug in the bath, both the air conditioning units dripped water everywhere, the fridge wasn't working and in the first week we didn't just run out of hot water we actually kept running out of water altogether! Having said that, once we had pointed out these problems at the reception they were soon fixed and they replaced the fridge with a new one.

The entertainments team (which are basically the reps) did work hard but the entertainment was hardly ";top class";, as described in the brochure. It consisted of a kids disco, a few games on stage, bingo, the reps singing and then another disco. The ";entertainment"; was held outside by the pool and was very, very loud. Our apartment overlooked the pool and we could hardly hear ourselves talk let alone each other. It might not have been so bad if the music played was any good but after hearing the same old thing over and over again it got very boring and when they played the Birdie Song and Agadoo I was ready to pack my bags!(and this wasn't for the kids' disco either). We really weren't interested in the entertainment but when in the apartment we couldn't get away from it.

But what really spoilt the holiday for me was the amount of people crammed into the Pafian Sun especially the amount of kids and teenagers. They appeared to far outnumber the adults. They were everywhere - wondering around the complex like an infestation of cockroaches! On one occasion when I took my daughter for a quiet swim in the indoor pool I was shocked to find kids and teenagers running riot in there. They were dive bombing each other. There were two boys chucking a fully clothed girl in the pool who was screaming the place down. A ball was being kicked about, hitting the walls (and innocent bystanders.) There were kids in the jacuzzi, emptying it of its water with plastic beakers. (The jacuzzi was switched off, however, due to the fact that kids had broken it previously by emptying out the water and letting it burn itself out!) Eventually a few people complained and they were all told to leave the indoor pool area. Long after the evening entertainment had finished (which was usually around 12am) they were wondering around the complex laughing and shouting completely oblivious of the fact that people may actually be trying to sleep. It was like a teenage holiday camp.

I was also surprised by the behaviour of some adults. It doesn't surprise me that one of the previous reviews mentions an incident where there was a brawl and police were involved. Long after the entertainment had finished they too, would continue sitting around and just generally being loud. On a number of occasions it had gone 2.30am and there were people shouting. At 1am one morning a very drunk man stood up from his table, arms spread out as if he were on stage somewhere, and started serenading all the apartments overlooking the pool with a football song whilst his wife was trying to get him to sit down again! I can almost see the funny side now but at the time when we had a 6 year old who had been unwell and needed to sleep I was fuming. You can see why the Pafian Sun needs two security guards roaming the complex!

Ear infections amongst both children and adults were rife. In certain circumstances the ear infections were so bad that people were told that if they didn't get better they wouldn't be able to fly home!

The only good thing about the holiday was that we were not ";all inclusive"; and ate out in the evenings. We also hired a car for a few days and spent the days driving through villages and finding out-of-the way beaches. (Latchi and Pissouri are both well worth a visit.) We therefore, thankfully, spent more time away from the complex than in it.

The Pafian Sun is some way from the Harbour and Town but the bus service is relatively good and there are numerous taxis always available. If you do go into Paphos and you like Chinese then ";Chloe's Chinese Restaurant"; is a must. The food, decor, service is out of this world. It may be a good idea to book ahead as it is very popular.

We love Cyprus (we've been twice before to Limassol and Protaras) and find the Cypriots very very friendly (outside the Pafian Sun that is) but we weren't overlly impressed with Paphos.

We will definately return to Cyprus someday. However, we will NOT be returning to the Pafian Sun.

we arrived at the pafian sun -check in was very good told where our room was 23d sea facing was,Entered our room, were .There were Two rooms, not very clean, smelt damp and were grubby, chair was badly stained.Curtains hanging from rail, Beds were changed once. Bedroom was very damp,
Bathroom-was dirty, tiles badly marked, ingrained dirt in corners, where no cleaning had been done for a long time, towels were changed once a week, and they were old and tired.
,Nights were very cold asked about heating 5cyp per day per room,we used the blanket.
dining room-if you like going back to your school days with tables in long lines this is the place, breakfast was the best meal of the day, lunch was cold burnt hamburgers, or some sort of pasta and salad, then recycled for the evening meal
Dinner was hit and miss, soup was the same tasteless water with another name to it.some nights we ate of the childrens menu.
The meal was always cold if you complained they came and stired it,to try and make it look more edible,IT was still bland. and tasteless. The complaints were nonstop but still nothing was done Evenings Plastic cups are the norm with watered down drinks,It was that cold we sat inside with our coats on no heating
Entertainment-bingo, if you have kids like sitting at plastic tables on plastic chairs and drinking from plastic cups,
this is the place

This no way a four star hotel more like two star,I feel it it was a complete waste of money Whats in the brochure is not what you can expect at the Pafian Sun This was my first hoilday with Thomas Cook.On the flight We were treated no better than cattle the seat pitch was so small. If this is there standard four star.never again

I arrived at this hotel and was very very disappointed with everything the hotel had to offer. This hotel is rated by tour operators as a 4* but by no means was this a 4* hotel. If you want real a 4* hotel don't book this one. Would not recommend this hotel unless you are prepared for 2* or 3*(at a push) standards.

This hotel should be rated at a low as possible. All female group went out,had no hot water for three days. Sofa bed slats broken,Ants and Cockroaches on the groud and coming out sink.

Towels that were dirty request for clean ones were turned inside out to appear clean. So you had a nice surprise once opened. Reception treat you as idiots. Thomas cook reps not help at all. Chase you for money for trips (went on Egypt trip fantasic, flew) then ignore you for the duration of the holiday . This was an all inclusive package. We were treated like dirt. Last resort was the General manager, we battled to see him who initally didnt want to give us a foc courtesy room on the last day.I would not go back there again if it was the last place in Cyprus!

How they ever rate this as a four star hotel we will never know, it was more like Butlin's in the 50's and 60's.
The location, staff attitude and food were absolutley disgusting.
We will never recommend or go to this place again.
No hot water for five days and even no water at all at times.
The smell of sewerage both around the apartments and pool.
Lucky if you could get sunbeds that were not broken.
Entertainment was dreadful.
Never again!

this is supposed to be an 'A' class hotel, and is advertised as 4*! however, this is definitely not the case!

arrived at 2.30am local time as an all inclusive guest and was met by a very rude member of staff who gave directions to the room. the bar and shop were closed and we were desperate for a drink of water. none were provided for us in the room so had to travel out of the hotel to a nearby pub to purchase some.

the room was nice and spacious, tidy with a nice bathroom however the room was boiling and the air conditioner wouldnt come on. after talking to the man at reception he agreed to turn it on but explained that there was a charge for it. i explained to the man that there was a signed document on the door stating that all A class hotels must be provided with air con between may and october free of charge but he said i should speak to someone in the morning.i spoke to our rep who said that because we were a late booking (only 3 weeks in advance) it was not part of our contract. however, upon our leaving i spoke to another couple with a different tour operator who booked a week in advance and had all their air con included.

we also asked the rep if we could transfer to a sister hotel because of threatening behaviour towards us from another guest making us feel uncomfortable and spoiling the enjoyment of our holiday. we were told that we would have to pay if we wanted to do this and that we should stay out of the hotel to avoid any future problems.

the food in the hotel was abysmal. it was cold, tasteless and boring. any food that could be tasted was disgusting and when i had to eat i ate the childrens chips and chicken nuggets (which were rock solid, by the way!)because of the food we were forced to eat out 4 nights at a local Irish Pub!not the idea of taking an all inclusive holiday! however the jelly was nice.
drinks were served in plastic beakers and coffee in polystyrene cups; ok by the pool but surely not in the evening?

entertainment was poor, repetitive and boring.

towels etc were changed most days but a couple had unknown brown stains on them. the floors and balcony were not mopped until we left.

however, the pool area was nice and the day times were largely enjoyable as the heat suppressed our appetites and we did not have to eat the lunch time food.

speaking to a number of other guests at the hotel they were of the same opinion as us. the hotel is well below the stated A class or 4* standard and would not recommend this hotel to anyone as all inclusive accommodation.

we are also going to avoid travelling with Airtours again.

Paphos itself is great and went on a lovely excursion to the mountains and monastry, however the hotel ruined our holiday.

Last minute booking, asked for 4 star accomadation was assured it would be, so wemt ahead and paid the £2,200 for one weeks holiday.

On arriving at the hotel i instintley new what a terrible mistake we had made, the hotel was filthy their was cats running around everywhere. The food in the restuartant was the same every day and as for the desserts you had a choice of either red or green jelly ( DEEP JOY )
ice cream was none excistent. The rooms were not cleaned every day and our light and towel rail was both hanging of the wall.

The entertainment team was a load of rubbish and what was meant to be the disco booth was nothing more than a man standing behind a piece of wood.
My advice to you is to stay well clear of this hotel.

Read the reports but unfortunately it was after we had paid the deposit. However in hindsight we wish we had now forfeited the deposit and gone somewhere else as it totally lived up to all the poor reports we had read. It also taught us to read this website before booking more holidays.

Firstly the hotel is actually nothing like it appears in the brochure. Because of carefully positioned photos it appears much larger. Although it is actually by the sea it is 100ft above the beach withe the nearest beach a few miles away. It is also isolated so there is nothing other than the hotel.

To briefly sum up as it is repeating much of the same as has already been written by others
1) In most resorts in most countries this hotel would be classified 2*, if some improvements made maybe 3*.
2) Food hot but very basic, little choice.
3) Staff impolite, particularly to children who often were ignored for drinks and had to come to us to get them.
4) Accomodation ok but not 4* standard.
5) Entertainment an overseas Butlins type.
6) The fuuny part of the holida, try to find an unbroken sunbed and if found try to find somewhere to put it.
7) Police had been called to the hotel the day before we arrived and we were welcomed with warning letters in our room stating that no help would be given getting back to UK if we were evicted for violent or antisocial behaviour. (We found this a little worrying)

All in all, go at your peril.

Arrived at the hotel at 11.45pm given the keys to our room and told where to go by the security guard.Once at our room it took us a good 5 minutes to get in the door( had obviously swollen and we couldnt open it). When we eventually did get in we dropped our bags and went to get a drink, by this time it was after 12 so although we were all inclusive we should have paid for the drinks but the lady behind the bar said that because we had just arrived we could have that one free, we thought great things are looking good, little did we know then.
After a couple of drinks we retired to our room.

Next morning we went to have a wash we were met with disbelief the clean towels which were in our room were a utter disgrace they were filthy, it was obvious they hadnt been changed from the previous clients. The bath was caked in grime it made us feel rather sick. In the end we used our own towels what we had brought with us for by the pool. We went and complained and they promised it would be sorted,so at that we went to breakfast.
We were delighted to see a full english breakfast on the buffet bar. We both ate a mouthfull and looked at it other every item of food was cold we couldnt belive it
all we could do was leave it and make do with a cup of tea. We thought maybe lunch would be better but surfice to say it was not, we ended up having nothing to eat on our first day.

We checked to see if our towels had been changed but they hadnt we went back to reception and informed them but it still took three days to get them changed.

We spent most of our days by the pool then we noticed the filtration outlets in the pool had the filtration caps missing off nearly every one making it a very dangerous situation especally for the children using the pool. Also a grey box what we thought may be a water hose was left unlocked and it kept swinging open when we went to try and lock it ourselves we were horrified to see it contained electrical cables, this box was right next to the water with children in and out the pool spashing and throwing water, how no-one was electricuted we will never know.

The food didnt improve so in the end we were resigned to having to take a taxi ride into paphos which cost us £5-£6 each way plus £30-£50 for our meals. In total we spent a sum of around £500 - £600 in food and taxi fares.
For four days we tried to get in touch with our rep but he was never available so in the end we had to phone the customer helpline, they in turn made an appointment to come and see us the following day( thursday ). Our rep was useless he said there was nothing he could do so we asked for a wriiten report, he was a little reluctant but in the end he did. Also if we wanted to move to another hotel we would have had to pay another £300 each plus a cancelation fee which we were not prepared to pay, we had already paid over £1050 for the holiday i dont see why we should pay direct holidays anymore money. Also along with about 20 other people went to see the manager of the hotel whom abruptly told us it was not his responsability for the condition of the hotel or the food and he did not want to know.

IN BRIEF:
We believe this holiday was misrepresented and missold to us by the holiday company holidays direct, because hsd they told us about the ongoing problems with health and safty and food hygiene at this hotel we would have choosen an alternative holiday.
This hotel was sold to us as a 4* A rated hotel when in actual fact it is little more than a 2-3* complex.

We advise anyone thinking of going to this hotel should change there mind or better still dont waste your money stop at home.
if you have already booked this holiday we feel very sorry for you but if you want somwhere good to eat the we recommend you go to ROSE CORNER in paphos.

Please take this report as a true desciption of the hotel complex, anyone ignoring our advice and find that they are dissapointed with the complex should also submit a report to compliement the report that we have written.
