Booked this holiday directly with Cyprus Airways & Anais Bay Hotel

We decided to take our young family & my parents to this gem of a hotel following reviews that I had read on various websites. It is owned & run by 2 brothers, Yiannis & Nicholas, they were superb, along with the friendly & helpful receptionist & fab waitress, barman & chef not forgetting the cleaners, you have the perfect traditional hotel! This hotel is clean, traditional & very beautiful in our opinion. Not a large faceless snazzy 4/5 star hotel, this was its greatest appeal, along with the service, food & generally the laid back feel, there was nothing to complain about. Every guest that we spoke to was on a return visit, some had been going there every year for up to 18 years!!! Says it all really. My only worry was that it may not be child friendly but it was, we do not like kids clubs & hundreds of kids taking over the hotel (although we have 2 children of our own) we travelled at Whitsun and there were about 6 children there, perfect, they all played in the pool together or in the small gardens. We felt very safe there and very well looked after. The hotel is about 2 minutes from a great beach which we used occassionally, lots of building work around but did not bother us at all. Very peaceful. Resort of Pernera is fine, usual really, bars & nice eating out places, some expensive & some reasonable. Good variety and never had to queue for food. No McDonalds, KFC etc... which is brilliant, apparently lovely coastal walks but unfortunately due to us having a pushchair, we did not experience that part, will do next year.

Back to the hotel, the airconditioning is noisy and I do not think that effective but we coped without any complaints! The people we met in this hotel also made for a fab time, no riff raff, no snobs, just hard working everyday people who have obviously fell in love with this hotel just like us. We are returning next year, no questions, not even going to bother looking around!! Cannot wait, so sad when we left & that hasn't happened for a good few years! PS - Don't tell everyone about this hotel, I would like to keep it just as it is!!

OverallVery Good Resort

Did not see much of the resort or outside of the resort. The hotel was where we wanted to be!

Pernera has nice restaurants & bars, usual really to a typical small resort. Nice friendly people, mostly families with young children, couples of all ages b...

We have recently returned from a 2 week stay at the Anais Bay in the Pernera area of Protaras.
We paid an extra 84 Cypriot Pounds on arrival for a sea view room,as this would be our home for the next fortnight and our original room was on the side of the hotel. The rooms were small but confortable. The air conditioning was included but was not the best we'd had by far. We stayed there on a bed and breakfast tariff. The breakfasts were satisfactory for a small hotel. The lady on reception who is called Mariana was lovely. She was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. She is an asset to the hotel. The hotel is situated about a 5 minute walk from a lovely beach. The Cypriot man (who looks like Roger Daltrey)looks after the sunbeds on the right hand side of the beach and is very polite and helpful. The restaurant on the right hand side as you get to the beach is very good - ideal for lunch.

Local restaurants we can recommend for evening meals are:- Noufaro Restaurant, Blue Spice Restaurant and Kartanas Meze Tavern Restaurant. But the best one by far...La Cultura Del Gusto, which is an Italian/Mediterranean Restaurant. The restaurant and service are the best and the food is to die for. If you visit on a weekend it is best to book a table as it gets very busy. We also visited the Mexican restaurant called Speedy Gonzales but were disappointed with the service.

We can definitely recommend this hotel and we would return there in the future.

This hotel has featured in previous reviews and I must concur with most of the comments regarding this particular hotel.
The accomodation we were initially offered on arrival was disgraceful- the smell of damp and wall plaster crumbling off at floor level. To add insult to injury we had paid and booked a 'sea view' room and from the window of the room the view of the sea was impossible as the only view was a 20 foot high fence surrounding the tennis court. Anyway we complained immendiately to the receptionist who informed us the hotel was full and we could not have a sea view room.

The following morning we complaied to the libra rep and shw did her best to sort it out with the manager but we had to wait from Sunday to Wednesday to get the sea view room on the top floor. This room was much improved but for a 3 star rating it does need to be reviewed.
The food as stated before in other reviews is not really 'cuisine' as most of it appears to be straight from the freezer, heated and placed on the plate.
I mean - crab on the menu was crab sticks!! very finely shredded.
I would recommend you check with your tour operator when booking this hotel that the room is allocated before you arrive.
The weather as always was hot and clammy.

I would ask, why do the local bars all appear to be competing for the loudest amplifier system they can use. Total rubbish.
On the other hand if you wanna be entertained find where big Spender is doing his karaoke night, he was a pleasure to listen to.

The airport at Larnaka had some of the best Cyprus mosquitoes flying around just to give you a good bite before boarding the flight home. Which was delayed by an hour due to the baggage handlers being 'too busy' on Cyprus airways flights.

This is my third visit to Cyprus and it doesn't get any better. Not next year though - GB for me rain or not.

We had one week very relaxing holiday at the Anais Bay Hotel,it is small, very friendly, family run Hotel, the staff are excellent and the rooms very clean and tidy with air con if you want it,we didn't use it as the weather was just right, not too hot in the evenings although some people complained that it was too windy and cool at night (we Brits love to complain).

We were half-board,the breakfast is continental but there was bacon, scrambled eggs and frankfurter sausages on a couple of times through the week, the evening meals were nothing to write home about and there was only two choices of starter, main course and sweets,we ate out on the last night as the Hotel did not serve a Cypriat meal for the whole week, there was a Italian night,a Barbecue night but no Cypriat night.

There was entertainment on for a couple of nights (A karaoke night and a singer/guitarist called Big Nick )which we missed.
The pool is small but there was plenty of sunbeds to go round and there was a small bay with a beach just around the corner which was safe for kids, jet ski's and para-gliding were also next to the beach.

All in all a very relaxing week's holiday,in fact there were people at the hotel who come every year,I don't think I would though.
