Sunrise Beach Hotel Reviews

Just returned from 2 weeks stay at Sunrise Beach Hotel. Overall we had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday. The hotel, which is located on the beach and central to Protaros 'strip', is a large well run hotel with a very big management structure. Nothing was too much trouble and any problems they would do there best to sort out asap.

Good points to the hotel:-

Good choice of breakfast to suit all needs.

Had a large king size bed which was very comfortable.

Rooms had good,free air conditioning.

Sunbeds allocated during your stay a good idea. If you didn't like the location given they did there best to move you when other guests vacate - just ask the pool attendant.

Located close to water sport activities with a good choice of things to do.

Only had evening meal in the hotel once - the food was good with plenty to eat.

Bad points to hotel:-

Not enough attention paid to cleanliness/maintenance around the pool, i.e. a few cracked tiles. Floor and shower areas not cleaned regularly enough.

Rooms were ok. Thought we were getting a newly refurbished room but looked as if it had been done about 2 years ago. Only one 3 pin plug in room.

Fridge in room could be used as a mini bar (free of hire charge),but to use same fridge empty for your own use there was a 5 euro a day charge! Best thing to do is to use as a mini bar and you could still get a couple of your own bottles of water in at a squeeze.

If you require a non-smoking room you need to ask for the 3rd or 5th floor.

If you need any requirments from the hotel email them before you leave Britian and they will do their best to accomodate.

The resort - Protaras is very laid back with lots of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. We ate out most nights and never had a bad meal, but some were better than others. Would recommend Corner Restaurant, Andama(same owner). Promises, Oscars and Georgia Restaurants are worth a visit.

Prices of drinks and food in the resort differed from place to place, but didn't stop us having a good time.

Cyprus is expensive but you are guarenteed good weather and a friendly atmosphere.

Sunrise Beach Hotel is a great hotel. We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Sunrise Beach hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed it and had a really relaxing time. The hotel was excellent and the staff was very friendly.

Reserving of sunbeds on arrival was excellent, although this should have been made clearer to us on arrival. The only thing I will say is at weekend it got really busy and we were not able to get our sunbeds at the weekends.

The location is great, right on a glorious beach. We had a good size family room which had recently been refurbished. Did hear that some rooms are in need of updating and still have carpet in the bathroom and poor air conditioning.

Went on the Big Red Open Top Tour Bus - got our ticket from just outside the Sunrise at the Bus Stop but we believe that there are various stops along the strip. It was very interesting and the guides are very knowledgeable and we enjoyed it and it was only 2 hours of our day so had time to spend back in the pool in the afternoon

Lots to do on the evening, Protaras is very lively and had lots of bars with entertainment going on, some of it tacky but also saw a lot of good shows. Kids were made very welcome and enjoyed watching the shows. Although karaoke and Elvis and Kylie impressionists got tired some by the end of the first week.

Great weather and cannot fault resort for an all round holiday destination where you can do as much or as little as you like. Would recommend it!

Breakfast was great, a wide choice and it was good that you could go between 7am and 10am - we never missed it once! Did not use hotel restaurant for dinner, drinks too expensive and it always seemed quiet. Pool snack bar has basic food, quite pricey though and not great.

Lots to do on the evening, Protaras is very lively and had lots of bars with entertainment going on, some of it tacky but also saw a lot of good shows. Kids were made very welcome and enjoyed watching the shows. The square is a good place to take the kids, they have entertainment on all evening and a big park at the rear of the stage where my 2 boys loved to play whilst we relaxed and had a drink. Also loved the Sphinx Bar - good shows and a nice atmosphere. Best place to eat was Andama - fabulous food and good service.

Went to Famagasta - booked through a local agent. It was very interesting and we all enjoyed it and it was only half a day so had time to spend back in the pool in the afternoon.

Only down side was dad, and two boys all got ear infections - maybe it was from the pool - but there is not much you can do about it. The local doctor prescribed antibiotics and they were all sorted within a couple of days.

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Sunrise Beach hotel throughly enjoyable and relaxing holiday. The hotel was excellent, the staff were friendly we stayed as BandB the food was great and you had a excellent choice. Reserving of sunbeds on arrival was excellent if you couldn't get near the pool they would move you as soon as a position came available. The Fun in the Sun staff were very good and were great with both kids and adults.You can't go wrong with eating out in Protaras, Tee Jays was excellent with big portions also Andamos was very good,we would definately return to Protaras and the Sunrise Hotel.

We have just returned from our 2 week holiday at the Sunrise Beach Hotel and it was one of our most enjoyable holidays to date.
The hotel was in a prime location near all of the restaurants and bars although we were not disturbed by any noise late at night as we had a sea-view room which we would recommend paying the additional cost for as the views were lovely.
The hotel was spotless and our rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard.
We had our sunbeds reserved throughout the duration of our holiday so there was no fighting for sunloungers first thing every morning. This was a good idea, however, it wasn't made clear to new arrivals that this system was in place.
The nightlife in Protaras was ok but the Elvis impressionists and karaoke became slightly tedious after the first week. Luckily, Ayia Napa was only a 20 minute bus ride away and there were some lovely restaurants there in the square - although prepare to be harrassed by the promoters as they hound you until you go in!

Overall the holiday was fantastic and we will definitely be going back to Sunrise Beach in the future. Hello to the July Club!!
