There were 4 of us who went to Prague 2 couples in our mid 50's-60's. We enjoyed a 4 day break in the city, there was plenty to see and the city was quite a surprise as you wander from one area to another. Went to the castle area, old town, jewish quarter, charles bridge, wenceslas sq, also the river boat trip. If you go on the boat trip try to use the small boats situated by charles bridge, we found them good value and the guides well informed. We used the 1 day tickets for the transport system that took us on the metro, buses, trams and cable car, loved the trams the 22 seemed to get you almost everywhere. Found that Prague was not as cheap as we were led to beleive, it can be just as expensive as London, I wondered how the locals can afford the prices on low wages (informed they earned between £125-£150 p.w) We were charged £85 for a mediocre meal of 4 steak and chips with 4 beers at the Europa in Wncelas sq. and would advise others to try the Everyday and the Louis Armstrong restaurants which are not too far away instead where the food is really good and not too expensive £12 to £16 for main course and desert with wine, both were superb. The other place for a good night was at a brewery that serves delicious sausages with a couple of accordian and Oompah men playing while you eat, at rows of tables, great atmosphere, I think it was called U Flech or something similar in Kremencova street, between Jiraskuv Bridge and Legii Bridge not far from the National Theatre its good fun and you can enjoy a pleasant stroll along the river after your meal.
We enjoyed our first visit to Prague, and would advise that if you are taking transport from the airport, go to the Airport mini-bus desk, they were efficient and you knew just how much the transfer would cost you for taking and picking up. The service was good and on time. Beware of pickpockets and people hanging around the money exchanges offering better rates of exchange, also the traffic can be very fast on the main routes and care needs to be taken when crossing the roads even on the zebra's. I hope that this review is helpful to you if you are going to Prague. The Czech's seemed nice polite people, but I wished that they were a bit more cheerful, it's such a pleasant city.
The St George hotel is situated 10 to 15 minutes walk from Wencelas sq between 2 busy roads, although once inside the hotel the traffic was not noticable. the staff were very helpful and polite, especially Matin who worked the night shift from 7 to 7 he in...
Great place for a short break lots to see and do and plenty of excellent bars and restaurants, would recommend Prague to anyone.

Prague is a lovely city to visit, however if you want four star accomodation dont choose the Waldstein hotel, this hotel is advertised as four star but in my opinion is far from it. We decided to stay there because the rooms were shown on their website as h...
Prague itself is a bizarre place. You will walk down a drab street that could be in back street London, turn the corner and be faced with a fairytale palace or museam. It is rich in culture and energy.

You do need to be mobile to walk around the city and all sights need to be seen to be belived.
Price vary wildly in certain areas, in my opionion it is much much cheaper to eat and drink a few roads away from the old town or centre. It costs around 29kc for a beer in the back streets, but costs around 80kc in the centre.
Be careful when travelling on the tube and bus. Try not to attract too much attention and make sure your valuables are secure. Use a bumbag if you have one (not cool I know) but neither is losing your passports or all your money.
Finally, and most importantly......Taxis.
BEWARE, the taxis are unpredictable. I dont want to scare anyone but......they are very keen to rip off English tourists. We were charged 460kc for a taxi from Thr airport to the Albion, which is reasonable. Try to get in a proper taxi (with alot of stickers on it, the more the better). We flagged a taxi down outside the hotel and after 5 mintues in the taxi the fare was already 500kc. We were charged 90kc per KM, instead of the government maximum of 28KC per KM. The driver became aggressive and tried all the tricks in the book to get us to pay more. The final fare was 1700kc, which I refused to pay, he eventually took?? 1100kc and sped off.
PLEASE BEWARE OF DODGY TAXI DRIVERS, ALWAYS AGREE A FEE (DONT TAKE ANY LIES ABOUT IT BEING ON THE METER (BECAUSE IT WILL BE ON THE DODGY METER), ALWAYS TRAVEL WITH A CLEARLY MARKED TAXI, INCLUDING SIDE STICKERS AND IF POSS A COLOURED ROOF.
Prague is a wonderful place polluted by a few horrible people. The locals are wonderful and warm.
Enjoyed getting out and about in Prague. Particularly enjoyed a cruise on the river which gives you an alternative to the impressive buildings you see on your walkabout. Had a good buffet on this cruise.

Stayed here for two nights on a Shearings Tour. The hotel is very clean, rooms are a good size but there is no air conditioning. Breakfast and evening meal were good. Prices in hotel bar were quite high. Don't expect a good rate of exchange from the hotel a...

Prague exceeded all our expectations for beauty, it literally takes your breath away. We have just returned after spending 4 nights and havent had a minute to spare, so much to see and do! The castle and Jewish synagogues are not to be missed. There are loads of places to eat and drink but the downside is because of the pound rate dropping against the Chez Krona and the huge mark up for tourists Prague is very expensive. We were paying around £9 for two vodka cokes and a meal for two is about £30 and thats a main course! If you want good food and lots of it go to Ceska Hospoda, Vezenska Street in Jewish part and order the meat board for two, add plenty of side orders and drinks for around £20 (fab). ENJOY PRAGUE AS WE KNOW YOU WILL.
We were plesently surprised when arrived at Boatel Albatross, couldnt have chose a more beautifull setting. Only several mins walk away to the old town square. The rooms are basic, clean and fresh towels provided daily. The beds are very comfortable but roo...
