Second trip for the group, last time in March 2004.

Booked BMI Baby flights, and then looked for Hotel. Always half fancied Bishops House (****), got a 4 for 3 nights offer, not too cheap, but looked like class.
Location literally 100 yds from Castle end of Charles Bridge, nightmare of journey in UK M4 closed, flight delayed, and taxi driver 5 minutes late, arrived at hotel 22.30, dumped the bags, out for a meal, virtually on the end of the bridge. Reasonably priced and reasonable food, good beer.

Hotel in the end of a small square, dead end, should be nice and quiet, antique lift, reasonable staff, only information in the room pack was how to identify a police man ! Nothing about Hotel services or timings. Mini Bar cheap enough to use ! Last morning they issued a breakfast menu!!!

Apparently we hit Prague in an exceptional heat wave, 35and#1618;C, but the world and his dog/truck/street cleaner/ dustman was about at 05:30 trying to wake the dead, and succeeding. Never been in such a noisy, middle of nowhere place before. Too hot to leave windows closed, too noisy to have them open, just don't bother trying to sleep past 05:30.

Disappointed in that the hotel bar apparently closed at 22:00, and the local bars appeared to close at 23:00.

Booked the hotel through (www pragueexperience com), and they threw in a free walking tour, turned out to be pretty informative, good guide, Good night on a river dinner cruise, and a good night at the Mozart Museum Recital, booked through (www pragueexperience com), Ambient Brazilian Restaurant, behind the Old Town Hall, a bit of a novelty but better to be there earlier than later, brilliant night at The Casanova Restaurant, Castle end of Charles Bridge, on the left looking over the wall, (not cheap but worth the splash, about £25/Head), it was a good last night, stumbled out at about 00:30. felt that we had been welcomed.

Biggest pain is the pickpocket, really need everyone to look out for each other, they tried but failed, Public Transport so cheap you have got to give it a go, trams a lot smoother than Amsterdam. 24hr ticket cost £2.00, Metro stations so big that if you pick the wrong exit, gap between Mustek and Museum can only be feet. National Museum worth a couple of quid to visit, but the waiter in the café on our trip had a serious lack of desire to serve. Funny how you can get wound up over trivia.

All in all, nice City, did the must do sights last time, this time enjoyed doing some events, but not as magical as first time, and service appears to be with a bit more attitude. Prices gradually creeping up, get on the tram / Metro and explore the edges, Andel area fairly busy and still well priced, big shopping center.

Going back in November, can't be that bad !!
